Disappointed is all I can say. Several instances occurred this weekend but here are the top ones... Had a room, this past weekend, with a couple of issues reported and no remedy to any of the issues. TVs didn't work. HVAC return filter was disgusting. Condo was listed as "sleeps 4 with pullout couch". Negative. No pull out couch was there. Also, when seeking food at the dock, the management of the restaurant was absolutely horrible. The staff will ignore you and you will stand and wait to be seated 10-15 mins because nobody wants to seat you or even speak to you. We sat ourselves, then got lectured by the manager as to why you don't do that even after stating that we had not seen a hostess or server come around. After waiting for over an hour after ordering pizza, they tell us they are out of pizzas....when asked "we are hungry so now what?" the server shrugged his shoulders and walked off. We will not be back here and will heavily encourage any of our family/friends to stay away from this marina. It has majorly fallen downhill since Safe Harbor has taken ownership. read more

We always have a great time at Lake Cumberland and thanks to Jamestown we had good sleep and clean space. There was only a couple of things that would have made it better. One of the windows were broke and they used duct tape to keep it together but it didn't work. I know there is not much that could be done to keep bugs from coming in. But there were so many gnats that even the traps they provide didn't help much. But overall the houseboat was in decent condition and we had a great time. read more

I would have liked to give the hotel more stars. Truly. However, after spending a week at the Jamestown Resort Hotel, I frankly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The room itself needs a lot of TLC. While the rooms are spacious and have a great view, they are run down and obviously not well taken care of. For example, the pipe in the shower is lose and rattles in the wall, there are stains on the bathroom counter, etc. However, these things could be forgivable if it weren't for the other concerning things. The first night of our arrival, we went into town to buy some groceries. When we got back the electronic key card reader didn't work. After calling multiple times to reach the front office with no answer, we resigned ourselves to sleeping in the car. However, my husband just happened to see an emergency number posted over the event room in the hotel. We reached a national number who connected us with an "on-call" person who said they would send security to let us in. After waiting about 30 minutes, a security guard showed up with a keycard to let us in even though we had been clear that the reader didn't work. He then left us alone standing outside our hotel room after sharing that he didn't know how to get us in and someone else would have to come help. After approx. 2 hours, we finally were able to get into our room. The next morning after we woke up, I went to the kitchen area to make breakfast with the items we bought and half our pastries and breakfast food were completely swarming with sugar ants. I threw the food away and called the front desk and they said that someone would take care of it. We had ants on and off the entire week and didn't use the kitchen area after that. When I shared my information with the front office staff, they seemed very unconcerned until I made a call to the corporate office. Only then did I receive a phone call saying that they apologized for the concerning lack of staffing in the evening and the ants - they then offered to make it right by buying me a Kroger gift card to replace the ruined groceries, on the condition I could provide a receipt. Frankly, Safe Harbor needs to get out of the hotel business if they don't want to be bothered with running a hotel. I spent over $2000 for two rooms for the week, and could have stayed somewhere much nicer. I would literally never send my worst enemy to this hotel - stay at your own risk, especially knowing that there will be no compensation for your time or materials. read more

My husband and I booked a super suite for a recent family vacation. The room was dated but the views were amazing so we totally looked past that. I even looked past the dirty tile floor (my feet were black from walking on the tile). The deal breaker for me was the brand new pair of airpods still in the box taken from my work travel back pack. I bought them for a presentation I had to give while traveling but ended up not needing them so stowed them in my work bag with my laptop because there was no safe in the room on the first day. I was planning to return them to the store. There was also no daily cleaning service so I had no expectation that somebody would be in the room but clearly someone was and the headphones were taken. Front desk was not helpful when I called to report. read more

Rented a cabin here for 2 nights. Not impressed at all, no toiletries provided....not even HAND SOAP. No way to wash the dishes you use, no shampoo/conditioner/body soap, no paper towels, nothing at all provided for your stay here. Definitely over priced considering all that's not included, and the pool was STILL closed July 12th. We will most definitely try a different place for our next Lake Cumberland visit. read more

My husband was in love with the price and at first glance it's beautiful. The lake view is amazing and in all likelihood we may stay here again. The pool was nice and clean and surroundings were well kept. The mattresses was comfy. I would ditch the fitted bedspread for a soft comforter, add a blanket and a few pillows. Pull up the stained carpet and lay water resistant flooring. Update the mini fridge ( mine couldn't have been the only old one in the place) mine also smelled like FISH. Someone most like spilled fish water. Touch up paint and do a little extra cleaning. Parking was easy and I hope the restaurant is open next time I'm in town. read more

Rented a Houseboat from State Dock in 2016. 4 Stars for them. Decided to go with Jamestown Dock Rental for 2017. Rented a Tranquility Houseboat. Bad idea. Reservation and counter staff were great. Maintenance guys and boat pilot were also great. No complaints with the personnel. That's why the overall operation received at least the one star. On the other hand, the houseboat was a disaster. If there was something on the boat that could be broken, it was broken. Missing simple things like towel bars and clothes hooks in the bathrooms. More significantly, the boat had no Inverter. That means, unless the generator is running, you cannot operate anything requiring electric except the toilets and the radio. We shut the generator off at 11:00 PM. The batteries were dead by 4:00 AM. 100% no power at all. It rained one day and water poured onto the front deck. Refrigerator, silverware tray, oven, and grill were all dirty. I don't expect pristine, but they looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. No grill brush, so we couldn't even clean it ourselves. This boat needs to be taken out of service for a week and refurbished. We'll never know if that happens because, in the future, we'll be renting from State Dock. read more

We had an amazing time. Came down for Raft up. The suite we rented was more like a small apartment. Very comfortable and clean. Updated and room for all our friends to hang out. The pub was a bit expensive and the service was slow. We were 50/50 on service. The first night we had an amazing server, the second night he had a girl who appeared lost and not very knowledgeable. Checking in can be confusing if you have never been to the resort. The girl at the front counter gave us some wonky directions and instructed us to take a water taxi to the pub...turns out the pub was at the end of the bridge she instructed us to walk down to catch the taxi. The gas pump attendant was the most helpful with directions and info. We docked our boat at the marina and I felt comfortable leaving it overnight. It was well lit, clean and everyone was friendly. State Dock is literally a swimming distance away and the water taxi is free to get there if you want to put your boat up for the night. Their food prices were better and the bar has a good laid back vibe. We would definitely be back next year. read more

Love their launching system; WAY more organized than the other place we used to put in at. Launch ramp is nice as well. Employees at launch ramp very, very nice. Overnight, covered slip rental - not so much love. They charge $60 for a covered slip with electric & water - NO CABLE!! The marina around the bend only charges $35 & cable is included. They even gave us cable - for free - since our cable wire was not long enough that we had brought with us. read more

Jamestown marina houseboats are old dirty and don't run very well. The furniture on them is worse than anything you would find on the street. The electricity and air conditioning only work will the serviceman is aboard the boat. This was our second time renting from them and nothing has changed. So if you want a vacation where all you do is work on someone's other than your own boat, go rent one from Jamestown marina. When your vacation is over you will wish you never went, but you will become an expert on generators, ac systems, water pumps And grinders! read more

Our stay on the Presedential Houseboat went really well. There were 18 of us over Memorial Weekend and the boat rental staff accommodated ALL of our needs! Our first thoughts were how big the actual interior really is and how patient and helpful the staff was. Pictures don't do the house boat justice, you just have to see it for yourself! They also let us take it out a night early and I could see why. They get pretty busy over holiday weekends! Yes, we did have a few problems with the boat however, the maintenance employees were always speedy to get out and fix what ever issues we had. They didn't give us any less than 110%, I was impressed. Overall our trip went very well! This was our first time to Lake Cumberland and we will definatley be back later this year! The only reason I gave this a 4 out of 5 instead of a 5/5 is because it wasn't "perfect". However, the staff, Mike, and everyone involved deserve a 5 out of 5! They really did go out of their way to make sure our stay was the best they could offer! read more

Great two room hotel/resort. Has a fridge and microwave everyone was extremely friendly even help when I had a problem with my watercraft this weekend and they helped me sort it out and get on the water. . the beds are comfortable. The bathroom could be renovated but it's adequate for our needs. shower head and faucet has all the water pressure you would want, no low flow devices here. Easy walk to a beautiful clean and nice dock. Great view of the lake from the porch/balcony. It also faces east so the sunrises are great to watch. Takes a while (10+ minutes) to idle out of the no wake zone. If I could say anything that needs attention its the pillows, they are flat Only other improvement I would suggest is to place window treatments across the sliding glass doors hard to sleep late with the sun coming in Great place though. I'll return and would recommend it to anyone considering a Lake Cumberland getaway. The marina restaurant served good (not great) food. Service was good each time I visited. Only wished it had opened earlier each morning to enjoy the sunrise and drink coffee on the lake front. read more

This resort / marina is located in an area right by the main (larger) part of the lake in a spacious, developed and convenient cove. Since we have a boat, it was a perfect situation. We rented a very inexpensive uncovered boat slip. It was easy to get to - via boat taxi or by car if we parked in the resort parking lot. We were also able to park and stow away the boat trailer in another lot nearby and out of the way. The people that run the resort are very nice and helpful. As a matter of fact, there was one employee that seemed to have numerous hats / jobs. He really seriously impressed us. We stayed for a few nights. The cabin was basically clean, spacious and comfortable. It offers maid service, but they just take your trash and replace towels during your stay. They don't replace linens or do any other cleaning as far as I could tell. It has a complete and full kitchen with a charcoal grill outside, an electric stove, large sized fridge, small microwave, toaster, electric can opener and a coffee maker. It had some amenities available like plenty of bath towels and toilet paper, some dish ware, like : various glassware and also a smattering of cooking utensils and an assortment of silverware. There was much missing too. We needed a grater, and there was not one to be found. The electric can opener was on the fritz, so we had to use the manual one which was also on its last leg. There were a few all stainless steel pots and pans, but the Teflon frying pans were very damaged and needed to be replaced. We didn't use them because we didn't want to eat Teflon. Bring a scrub sponge as well to clean dishes with. They only provide a dishcloth. They do not supply paper towels. Make sure you bring soap products like hand dish soap (no dishwasher), and basic toiletries like hand bath soap and shampoo etc. Also bring salt and pepper and paper towels. They do not offer those basics as well. I guess the main line of logic here is to think in the semi full camping mode and bring some survival basics to assure you will have them. That is, so you don't have to run into town and buy a bunch of things to fill in the big gaps. Bring charcoal, lighter fluid and matches or a fire source as well if you choose to grill outside. The beds were smaller - double sized. They were fairly comfortable. Bring your own pillows because theirs are very soft , cheap and flimsy. The cabin we stayed in had one bathroom, two private bedrooms, and a loft area. It could basically sleep up to 8-9 people (comfortably ? depending on your perspective). You will have to time and plan showers accordingly and strategically. The hot water tank is small - maybe a 15 gallon capacity, and it depletes at a rapid rate. The view of the lake is a nice touch, but it was mostly obscured by trees. All In all, compared to the other cabin site we were going to stay at (and ultimately rejected), I can honestly say this place is a real gem and a breath of fresh air. At the end of the day, especially when things are put into perspective (and always should be in life), I am really not complaining. ;o) read more

This review was for our stay the week after the Poker Run, in September of 2011. My husband and I had never stayed at Jamestown prior to this visit, as it has been a family tradition for over 30 years now to stay in the State Park. Why the change? Because when we stayed at the State Park the previous May, we found the facilities to be dilapidated and outrageously overpriced. It is sad what the economy has done to State Parks in general, but there it is. I wasn't about to repeat our May trip and pay $200 per night for a room that was only halfway renovated and dirty. We decided to look into Jamestown Marina's lodging options because it is literally right across the channel from State Dock and looks just as nice. We bring our boat down on each visit and dock it at the marina during our stay, so the condition of the marina is important to us. Jamestown Marina is not only adorable, but much MUCH cheaper than State Dock on both their gear, slips and most importantly, GAS. We were shocked at the difference, just fifty feet across the water, could bring when filling up your tank. Prior to our visit, I was apprehensive about the lodging options as they do not give you a detailed description of the amenities, nor do they offer multiple photos on their website. However, after contacting them via email, I was provided with extensive photos of their property including all the various lodging options. This was done in a mere matter of hours, not days. I was very impressed with their prompt customer service and thank Mr. Chambers for his hospitality throughout our decision making process. As for their lodging rates, Jamestown costs a fraction of the price in comparison to State Park. We paid $200 per night in May for a two bedroom cottage at the State Park, which was still considered their "off season". We paid a meager $50 per night for a two bedroom cottage in Jamestown in September. You do the math. Granted, the cottages at Jamestown are smaller and less "opulent", but they were CLEAN. Something we had issues with during our stay in May at the State Park. We stayed in cabin 10, one of their "Rustic Fishing Cabins" and rustic it is. There is only one small bathroom, but it was squeaky clean and adequate. The cabin consists of a living room and kitchen combo with two bedrooms that open directly off them. The bedrooms were small with only one double bed in each, but again they were clean and adequate for the price. My only complaints would be this: 1. The kitchen needed to be renovated, those cabinets were older than me and there was no dishwasher. But that said, the appliances were updated, clean and ran well. 2. The furniture DESPERATELY needed to be replaced and updated. The couch, chairs, beds and dressers had all seen better days. 3. The shower head in the bathroom was mounted very low on the wall, so unless you are five feet tall, you will be summoning your best yoga moves just to get your hair wet. The boat launch is light-years better than the one at State Park, but it is still a tricky one to maneuver. The launch is steep and they allow cars to park along either side. Couple this with the fact that like State Park, there is no dock to immediately tie up to, you need at least two people to launch your boat and both better be capable of either running the boat or driving your trailer up the hill to the trailer parking lot. Now, there is a dock that runs along the side of the launch and you can tie your boat up for easy loading of your family and friends, but it is a great length behind the launch, so you have to launch your boat, run it to the back of the dock and tie up there. The moral of the story, bring at least two people to launch your boat. Oh and the best part about the cabins in Jamestown Marina, they allow you to keep your trailer at your cabin! To get down to the marina you have one of two options, you can take a water taxi at the bottom of the boat launch, or you can undertake the fifty stairs that go down the mountain to the water. We took the stairs every time, with coolers and gear and it was never an issue. The marina itself was clean and every single staff member we encountered was beyond friendly. Our covered slip was easy to get to and cheaper than those at State Dock. All in all, we were very satisfied with our stay at Jamestown Marina and would recommend anyone stay there. read more
