If I could give his place zero stars I would. This place is not a place you want to put your relative or loved one, unless you hate them. The place itself is a zoo! Staff are inundated with people behaving like animals! My mom's room was filthy, absolutely disgusting and disturbingly gross. She was neglected and it showed. read more

Once they get a patient in, they manipulate the financials/Medicare/Medicaid to keep them as long as they can even if the patient no longer needs their service. They look for anything over 100 days so they can bilk insurance. Social Services is a joke as they have so much power once a patient is admitted. As soon as you put a relative there, get a Medical Power of Attorney or they will not speak to you and you have no say. Your relative is held hostage. read more

I write this review in sadness and anger towards the administrations failures our family faced. Even at this moment they are making hurdles to review our loved one's medical records as we look for answers..... why? The care and attention provided to residents at this facility is nothing short of deplorable. Yes I have photos and documentation of everything I state in this review. Despite consistent visits and reporting concerns to the staff, nurses and administration, the quality of care and basic living needs were consistently ignored. Placing my loved one in serious medical situations and without my families insistence to seek emergency care would have been left in pain and suffering and lead to serious and severe health complications. It became very evident that they lacked the necessary staffing, knowledge and compassion to deal our loved one. Rooms were often left unsanitary, patients left bloodied, soiled and unattended. Infections in wounds, bed sores, stolen property, poor hygiene and even a broken hip was documented and brought to administrations attention. For anyone who is thinking of bringing a loved one here don't or be advised these are the types of behaviors and experiences that have happened and will probably continue to happen due management's inadequate response and actions. This is my families first experience with a facility of this type and I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy. I will continue bringing awareness to the lack of care that we witnessed and received Not only for my loved one but for all of those that are still there suffering in silence without someone to speak out on their behalf. read more

I give them a big fat zero..please do not send your loved ones here...Worst experience of my fathers life and his family...They all lie and cover up for one another...My Father was in for 2 months and took him him home and he died 3 weeks later due to Covid in the facility that was never informed to us, we saw it for ourselves...I beg you do not send anyone here. This place is disgusting. They make the website look like a dream when in realty its gross and the staff is horrible. They never have enough people working when you ask them to help your loved one. They talk bad about the floors and patients right in front of visitors and then try to lie about it. The staff would rather the residents soil themselves instead of helping them use the bathroom which is probably why the entire place smells awful. Residents are just roaming the hallways and trying to escape and security does nothing. The desk when you walk in make you take a rapid covid test and wear a mask meanwhile they don't wear a mask. They just throw the residents in the "day room" and let them rot. Majority of them looked drugged up. The food is beyond disgusting, these poor resident who have no family to bring them anything have to suffer and eat this horrible food. read more

It has taken me a while to write this review after having to grieve the loss of my father who was in this rehabilitation facility in August 2021. If anyone is thinking of having your loved ones go here PLEASE RUN in the opposite direction. My father was recovering from spinal surgery when he was transferred here for inpatient rehabilitation so he could get the proper assistance and physical therapy he needed. We never imagined what would happen a few weeks later... My father contracted Covid-19 from this rehabilitation center (of note he was fully vaccinated). We understand it's a pandemic but we truly felt this place did not take the proper precautions whatsoever. On frequent occasions, we would see elderly patients run past security trying to escape. Security did not pay attention to who was in and who was out of the rehabilitation center. My dad suffered the consequences. Another patient tested positive about two weeks prior to my dad's positive test result. We are not sure how it got transmitted to him, maybe through the staff...it is hard to determine. Of note, my father was in and out of hospitals for the last year and half (including during Covid-19) and he never had any experiences like this. He was safe because those hospitals took the necessary steps and precautions when dealing with high risk populations. Over a year and half into Covid-19 and he was never exposed ever. But worst of all was after he tested positive. My dad wanted to go to the hospital. But the rehab would not let him leave to go to the hospital without a doctor's note, despite his recent spinal surgery and that he was high risk due to his age (67 y/o), medical conditions, and cancer treatments (chemotherapy). They told him to quarantine in a different room and that would be all he needed to do. You would think with the high risk population they would not only take more precautions but they would be quicker to intervene. In fact, he had just gotten chemotherapy a few days prior. Eventually he was able to be transferred to the hospital with a doctor's note (our PCP was amazing in advocating for him), about a week after going to the hospital he was put on a ventilator, and he passed away a few weeks later. To make matters worse this place lost all of my father's belongings after he passed away. The center tried to give us a box of someone else's things but we knew it was not my father's belongings. For weeks they dodged our calls, even the managers would not call us back after requesting to speak to people at the top. Finally they admitted to us that they lost all of his belongings and offered us cash. It was not about the money for us, it's having his belongings that we really wanted. We would have never imagined that a place we thought was meant to make him stronger and healthier would put him at such high risk. PLEASE I URGE YOU NOT TO PUT YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. I can not even rate this place. As a healthcare provider, I must say in all of my 20 yrs experience this place is the absolute worse. This place is a death sentence. If you don't have a family member advocating you are screwed and even then it's not acceptable . Ppl know your rights. Report them to the State and also to your insurance companies. Take daily notes and email them to keep records of your correspondence. This place is a crap hole if I even found one hand full of caring experienced workers that's a lot. This is not a nursing skilled facility in my book, it is more of unskilled . The PT ppl are pretty good except for one I came across . The food , I think prisoners get better food . Not appetizing at all, frozen foods not cooked thoroughly, French toast only cooked on one side. You are encouraged to crap and urinate in your diaper as opposed to calling for bedpan . Where is the persons dignity here? The experience with some nurses honestly I think they make up numbers. Cause if you think a 70 % saturation is good and total confusion of where you are is acceptable, then your license should be revoked. Unfortunately , the 4 th and 5 th floor were nightmares .i found one nurse who was caring and fed up with the place one aid who was great. The rest complain stay on FaceTime and just don't care. Or you find others just BS at the station while call bells are buzzing and they are ignoring them. If you care about your love ones, this is not the place for them. There is so much more I can say badly about this place, but I will refrain from such. All I can say is God help these poor ppl that are there. read more

My mother was a patient there until her death in Dec. 2017. I visited weekly. Everytime I visited I found her to be clean, fed and in good spirits despite her mental health condition. Sure there was some "help" I wasn't a fan of and on a couple of occasions I told them so. No place is perfect.......the place she came from was a hellhole.....S.I. Care Center was "the Ritz" by comparison..... I was satisfied with the facility. read more

Dad needed Rehab.. I didn't think twice and I'm so glad. The receptionist was friendly and she told me about the weekday Van service. The Nurse on the 5th floor was excellent and remembered my dad. I visited a friend who is at this facility. First off, upon my arrival I could sense the security they have in place. Before allowing me in, they snapped my picture and wouldn't give me the exact room number of my friend. I like that. Next, after being escorted to his room by a staff member, they announced me to my friend which insured he knew me and allowed my visit. I like that too. Finally, everything looked very clean. Patients all looked clean and fed. Plenty of staff all around responding to being called. One last thing, an attendant thanked me for visiting, on behalf of my friend. A nice touch. Not being able to base my review on anything other than the info above (I don't know about food quality etc) I can't rate more than 4 stars. read more

This is one of the worst places you can put your loved one. Food is sub par that I wouldn't feed to my dog. Nurses are nice but don't think you will get finance dept to do their job. Supposed to put my loved one in for Medicaid and lied to me numerous times. They have not done it!!! I took my loved one out of this facility because I couldn't take the crappy excuses and can treatment during bathing time. Keep looking. If i could give it zero stars i would! worst place ever. the staff is very careless and couldnt care about the people here. ( or at least thats what i seen while i was there) i had the head nurse flat out lie to me. My aunt who is a heart attack patient was forcibly put into a wheelchair and rolled into a day room to sit for 3+hours. i found her slumped over laying on a table with 16 other people in the room she had drooled and spit all over herself but someone was nice enough to give her a pillow on the table so she could lean! i was later told by one of the nurses who was given the order to put her in the wheelchair that she indeed was screaming and yelling NO NO NO as well as throwing her hands and hitting them. She is a 77 yr old female about 80lbs soaking wet! When i confronted the head nurse i was told she "willingly got into the chair around 7am! That WAS A LIE! No one here is held accountable for their lack of actions. DONT GO TO THIS NURSING HOME! read more

I visit my good friend on the 5th floor everyday. I find the staff to be very friendly, courteous and helpful. The nurses take very good care of my friend and always treat him with respect, which makes me feel good. I love that I get a free guest tray when I visit during meal times. Staten Island Care Center saved my life!!! My mother had a hip replacement and went to a different local facility for rehab where she was absolutely miserable. After three weeks she was still in a wheelchair and going nowhere fast. I went to other local facilities to tour but nothing compared to SICC. From the minute I walked in I knew this was the right place for my mom. Everyone from admissions to nursing to administration went above and beyond to assist me in transferring my mom and making sure she was comfortable. Thankfully they had her up and walking in weeks and she's being discharged today. I will recommend Staten Island Care Center to all my family and friends. I am forever grateful to everything they've done for my mother and our family. read more

I visited my brother who is a long term resident at the facility. The staff is polite are caring. The nurses make me feel very comfortable. When I arrive on the floor the doctor or nurse manager finds me and provides me updates on how Jerry is doing. They take the initiative to come over to me. I appreciate that! read more

If I could give zero stars I would, This may be the worse nursing home/rehab I have ever personally visited. I had a loved one there for rehab and the lack of service there is insane. Medicine wasn't given on time if at all, Wounds were not properly managed, cleaned or dressings changed. Food is god awful, the smells throughout the building are disturbing, The entire feel of the place is depressing. The place is also pretty dirty, and the parking lot is so small with no where near enough spots for visitors and considering the neighborhood it is in you can't really veer to far from the place to find parking. The staff is 50/50, You have some nice people, some rude people, and some downright arrogant people. My loved one was somewhat bed ridden but could wash themselves on a daily basis in the small sink provided in the room, after being there for 6 days the nurses came in to tell them it was time for a shower, and when they were asked why 6 days later, the response was that they only shower people there 2-3 times a week! My friend told them it was ok and that they were capable to wash themselves and didn't need them to shower. We were both also harassed by the "head admin" there to take down some negative comments that were put up on there page because they feared for their "reputation" I think this place is more concerned about their reputation then the quality care of their patients. All the times I was there, I never saw a happy person walking around like they show in their you tube video.. Bottom like this place is a horror show and if I were you please do not trust them to care for your loved ones and if you're young and only have to stay for a short time for some rehab, try to get it done and get out as soon as you can before you end up god forbid catching something else while you're there. and Please, please open your mouth and stand up for yourself if you are staying there, and if you have no choice but to put a loved one in there for a long or short period of time, make sure you follow up on everything and open your mouth! read more

I have been at staten island care center for 2 weeks and the care has been exceptional. Starting the nurses, aids, physical therapists and aids have been so compassionate and caring. I can walk around freely and have alot of energy. I could not believe after being at the hospital i would have been able to get my energy and strength back. Rafi has been great, checking in on me making sure i am comfortable and being cared for. The nurse Carrie has been great, Jonathan always takes the time to be with each patient, Marylou 3-11 has been more than wonderful. Sue from rehab has been great helping me walk and build up stamina. Jason also helps by encouraging and pushing me. Donna and Patrice have been so kind and worked with me and make a smooth transition. When i go home next week i will send cookies back for the staff for the wonderful care that they gave me. I am so glad I chose staten island care center and i highly recommend it to my family and friends. read more
