I received a letter from the insurance carrier that proof of installation of a new roof had been completed, or my insurance would be cancelled. I supplied the proof within two days of receipt of the cancellation notice. I was told by the Allstate agent by email that the information had been forwarded to the insurance carrier and that they were waiting for a response from the carrier. A month and a half later I received a second notice of cancellation of my home insurance by the carrier. When I contacted Allstate again wanting to know why my home insurance was going to be canceled, I was advised that the carrier had the information and that it could take weeks or months to get a response from the carrier. I told Allstate that I would be calling the carrier to find out what other information was required or what did I need to do before my insurance would be canceled. When I contacted the carrier the next day, I was informed that they received the documentation the day before and would have it processed within three to five days. Thanks for lying to me about the issue being with the carrier. The issue was clearly the fault of inept, lying Allstate agent. There's more...I contacted Allstate corporate to have my agent changed to an honest, trustworthy agent. I was advised that I could not change my agent because the agency had been purchased by a new person and that I could not change agents for one year from the date of purchase. So the only way to change agents was to cancel my policy with them. When I contacted the agency to request cancellation, I had to speak with the same agent that had lied to me repeatedly. I requested my policy to be canceled effective immediately. This agent did not cancel my policy and continued to bill me for the policy that I had canceled. Now I am stuck in a legal dispute because the agency turned me over to collections for a policy that I canceled. If you like being lied to...If you like being held responsible for a cancelled policy, then this is the agency for you.
