I recently closed on a home and used Statewide on a recommendation from a friend. My loan officer was Garrett. Garrett is great at his job! He helped me months in advance in preparing to purchase. The process was so smooth and I never worried about a thing. He answered all of the questions I had and I never had to wait long for a response. ***Edit*** I wish to update my original review. While our experience with Stephen was very frustrating, we were later contacted by Keith, the owner. He called us to discuss our experience and took the time to listen to our concerns. He was kind and understanding and provided the level of service and support we had been hoping for from the beginning. His professionalism and genuine care completely turned our experience around. How a company handles these situations says everything. We truly appreciated him reaching out to us, and in this case Keith truly made things right. We are looking to buy an investment property, and before we made the offer, we wanted to obtain a pre-qualification letter to provide the seller's realtor. Having been matched with Stephen Gray, we started the process on Monday. I would like to point out that our credit is exceptional, we have great jobs and assets. I would also like to note that our credit report wasn't supposed to be pulled at that moment, and yet... it was. Thanks for the hit - I have carefully curated my credit over the years and don't appreciate that. When my husband called on Tuesday to ask for the letter, understanding that this is *not* a pre-approval, just a pre-qual, he was met with an aggressive tone, raised voice, and scolding because I hadn't unfrozen one of the reports, and accusatory statements that we weren't giving them the information quickly enough. Our interaction was not a good one. I have a very demanding job and an invalid family member, so it was going to take me a little bit to get the information. Note, we are talking less than 48 hours. The same day, we got the pre-qual letter from another Mortgage Broker with the same information we had provided Statewide. We are puzzled at the treatment we received from Stephen, considering that we are ideal clients, have great income, and exceptional (near-perfect) credit. read more

*** Update**** The true measure of a good company is how they respond to a challenge. In this case we found that Keith Swisher the owner of the company is a true professional and gentleman of his word, and this their most valuable asset. Although we chose not to move forward with Statewide Mortgage and we still find Stephen's action to be extremely appaling and unprofessional, Keith has shown that he is serious about running a very reputable business and this was an isolated incident that I am confident will not repeat itself. I strongly recomend this company based on past performance and the response from the owner: Keith. Just do not work Stephen in the event he is still employed at Statewide. My experience with Statewide Mortgage was utterly dismal, and I feel compelled to share this review to warn others. The lack of professionalism and the outright rude behavior I encountered, specifically from an individual named Stephen, was shocking and unacceptable. From the very beginning, communication was a serious issue. This created a great deal of frustration and anxiety, as I was left completely in the dark about the status of my mortgage application. The most disturbing part of the experience, however, was when I finally managed to get him on the phone to address the lack of communication. Instead of offering a simple apology or a reasonable explanation, he completely lost control. Stephen went into a rage and started screaming at me over the phone, displaying a level of unprofessionalism and hostility I have never witnessed in a business setting. His behavior was not only unprofessional but also intimidating and completely uncalled for. When I told him I was going to share the rude texts and his improper behavior with his company he gave the name of the owner and told me to do. This leads me to believe that he feels protected by the owner. If this is how this company wishes to be represented by this individual in a day of some much competition in the marketplace, it is appaling. read more

If I could this company a negative 0 I would. I had the pleasure of being defrauded by Ryan Baxter & the Kentucky Real Estate Fraud Team. They have a system set up to take advantage of Black first-time homebuyers. They discriminated against me, changed federal laws. They also have a person appraiser Jeff Krimple who lies on FHA appraisals to the home financed although he's aware it's fraudulent. Mr. Swisher is well aware of what his employees are doing, Please be cautious when you using this company they do not treat all consumers the same different rules for different people. I've had a mortgage and a refinancing through Ryan Baxter at Statewide in Louisville, and both experiences were positive. Both times Ryan answered my many questions and helped the process to go smoothly. On my refinancing, the rates he provided were very competitive versus other rates which were offered to me at that time (3% on a 30-year). The process did take a bit longer than the initial estimate to pass through Underwriting, but this happened during a pretty high-demand time when rates had gotten pretty low and lots of people were refinancing. read more

The woman I was working with has been honest, professional, and thorough. I appreciate that she laid out every possibility. She researches options and keeps you updated. ETA: I removed two stars because she pre-approved me and pulled my credit report after I asked her to wait. It was almost like she was determined that I would work with her and not explore my options. In fact, she pre-approved me after I told her I was talking with other people. As an always-organized, prepared person who is always seeking to make well-informed decisions, I did my homework in speaking to a variety of types of lenders but the choice to work with Jason was easy. From our initial meeting all the way through the week of closing on my first home, Jason made me feel like a priority. He always promptly responded to my inquiries and made sure I was aware of the process and my options. I never felt pressured into anything. Financing your home, and revealing all of the paperwork that goes with it, is a highly personal process and it's imperative that you work with someone you trust and feel comfortable with. One of the frustrating things about buying a house for the first time is that everyone but you seems to know what to expect and there are SO MANY choices to make before you even start looking at houses. A friend recommended Missy Blanford at Statewide or else my boyfriend and I may not have checked them out. Missy was very responsive to calls and emails. When we met with her, she did a great job of walking us through what we might expect and describing each step of the process. She was patient and thorough when answering questions. RUN!!!! If you have a choice to use another mortgage broker/loan originator, then chose someone else. The loan originator I worked with was a complete flake. He rarely read my emails all the way through so he repeatedly asked me the same questions I had already answered or asked for the same documents I had already sent. They were COMPLETELY ignorant about the type of loan I was approved for and messed up constantly. The guy would ask me questions that he or the lender should have the answer to...things that a loan officer should not be asking the client. Several times he asked me to do his job or find out answers for him. I am really disgusted that I paid a fee for their "service". He messed up on so many levels and was not timely at all. In conjunction with the Lender they paired with (who was also terrible), they caused me to miss my closing 3 times. The guy was a complete jerk, got crappy with me on the phone, and then bad-mouthed me in an email to the Lender (he forwarded me a response from the Lender and forgot to delete his comment first). read more
