First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - Tannadice Park is one of my fave stadiums because of the name, the intense atmosphere (possibly the loudest in Scotland) and the team that plays here. I've seen home games here on 3 occasions including once when I was little, and I intend to come back here many more times and bring my girl here someday. I love it, I love how orange and intense and windy and cold and awesome it is. However, I can't give it that 5 stars. When I went back in 2014 most recently, I remember thinking... if they just fill in the corners and modernize it a bit, it could be one of the best stadiums in the UK. And so much less cold! Maybe one of these days. So when I was doing my first tour of Scotland in 2011, I also hit up every single stadium in the country. My obsession with footy (soccer to Americans) is the reason. Every stadium review - like all my reviews - are based on first-hand personal experience, usually from multiple visits. As recently as Fall 2014, when I was "stuck" in UK for 3 months, I went to most of them yet again while travelling. I have pictures of me at many of them, which I will post later. Also, when back in Scotland I plan to take more pix, and add more stadia! So watch this space! *** return to regular review *** It holds just over 14k and is just a few yards away from Dundee's stadium. Dundee United play here in bright orange, which is why the whole stadium is bright orange. It's in the middle of a neighbourhood and it's really lovely here, watching games here is a thrill and the fans are fantastic. It's been in use since 1883. It is one of the best atmospheres in Scottish football and everyone should see a game here before you eat Haggis or Deep Fried Mars Bars. If they fill in the corners and increase the acoustics it'll get 5.

I haven't watched live football here, but I have been inside, and talked to a groundsman for probably 45 minutes about this stadium, the problems with it, and other issues. I agreed with most of the negativity, and for that I'll give it a 2 rather than the standard 3. I enjoyed the visit, but this may have been one of the least impressive Scottish Stadia I visited. I was here in 2011 and again in 2014. So when I was doing my first tour of Scotland in 2011, I also hit up every single stadium in the country. It opened in 1919 and is too small to meet UEFA's requirements, whatever they may be. The largest stand is behind the goal. Aberdeen uses Glebe Park for its reserve matches.

First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - I've never seen a live match here unfortunately, but I have been inside once, been around the outside on two other occasions, and I've taken tons of pix. I think it's a great, grand old stadium, but the capacity is pitiful... only 3k people. So I'll keep it as a 3, especially since it has artificial grass (which I walked on! Yay! Don't tell anyone!). So when I was doing my first tour of Scotland in 2011, I also hit up every single stadium in the country. My obsession with footy (soccer to Americans) is the reason. It has artificial turf, and it can hold 3k people. Montrose used to rent the pitch out for livestock and grazing (hahahahaa), and their stand was formerly used at the Highland Games.

Where were you at the Perth of your child? Hopefully not at this stadium. First-Hand Experience: I was a kid when I came here. You may think I was too young to remember, but in fact, I was the only reason my family brought me here. I demanded to visit every stadium in every town we went through when we were on holiday. I was obsessed with footy and I still am. I must have been a nightmare to deal with. Or maybe not. Who cares anymore, it's in the past. I remember this stadium looked like it was literally about to fall apart. It was a wreck. It was one of the scariest looking, most run down, least impressive stadia I ever saw. I give it an extra star because ASDA came in and saved it and built them a shiny new one across town. What a lovely story. I've been back to the site of this stadium since, and I think it's best that it was demolished. It's a nice little shopping area now. From 1924 to 1989, St. Johnstone played here, until ASDA decided they wanted to build a superstore here, and so they actually put in the money for the new stadium in return for this land. Boo ASDA, really. Then again, the new stadium is nice so I guess it's fair enough. In fact, if you talk to the hardcore fans it seems like ASDA saved the club and so maybe someone at ASDA is actually a big fan of Scottish football, who knows. I really think the world is quite safe by the way but Americans Still Don't Agree ;) The stadium was a death trap so it scores a 2.

And I had a great time in their stadium, and nobody tried to kill me despite me wearing an orange shirt... so for that I will give them a solid four stars. I haven't been back inside the stadium since that awesome match in 2011, but I will be going here again soon. I visited the ground briefly in 2014 and relived the memories, but not on a match day. Next time I go, hopefully it will be for my second match experience here! Dundee is half of the city of Dundee, the other half being Dundee United. They play in ugly dark blue and were formed in 1893. They are in the Scottish Premier. They play to 11.5k and are 300 yards away from their great rivals. First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - I've been to Pittodrie twice, but only once to watch a game. It was my 3rd fave experience in Scottish football but only because my fave Scottish team (Celtic) got a narrow and thrilling win. One of my most memorable nights watching Celtic for sure. Then when I was on tour here in 2011, the morning after the night of my concert, I went to relive the memories and walk around the stadium. I noticed that it hasn't changed a bit. It's still huge, it's still intense, but it badly needs a makeover and perhaps to have the corners filled in. Maybe that will happen soon. If it does, this grand old stadium from the 19th century could earn the 5th star that I want to give it. So when I was doing my first tour of Scotland in 2011, I also hit up every single stadium in the country. My obsession with footy (soccer to Americans) is the reason. So watch this space! *** return to regular review *** The grand home of Aberdeen FC way up by the ocean in NE Scotland, this 1899 stadium holds 21k and is one of the biggest in Scotland with a fierce support. It was the first all-seater stadium in the UK. It's the 3rd largest stadium being used by a top club. It has a cool granite facade. They might move to a new stadium but that would be a tragedy really since this one is so good. It's 15 mins from the city centre on foot and Briony has been there. it's an expensive ticket. It could be better atmosphere-wise if the corners were filled in but it's one of the better stadiums in the country. It's very close to the sea which makes it absolutely freezing.

They have franchised all over the world, including building a city named Perth in Australia, to mimic the one here in Scotland. But not really. First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - my concert in Perth went fairly well, so the following morning, I stopped by the footy stadium as I usually do and hung out there for awhile. I used wifi in the parking lot, walked around the grounds and even got to sneak inside (as I usually do at the smaller grounds, and it's not too hard. That's what she said). It's a decent new stadium (new-ish, opened in the late 80s), and I took pictures and imagined what it would be like to see STJ play here at some point. One of these days, I will. I'll be back here, that's for sure. I think if the stadium gets upgraded and expanded it will be more likely to be a four star, though. It just looked a little small and incomplete when you get in there. So when I was doing my first tour of Scotland in 2011, I also hit up every single stadium in the country. My obsession with footy (soccer to Americans) is the reason. Every stadium review - like all my reviews - are based on first-hand personal experience, usually from multiple visits. Dundee is quite divided, and the bitter rivals play just 300 yards down the road. Bitter because United are the bigger team by any stretch of the imagination. First-Hand Experience: I've seen DUFC play 3 times at home, and several times away, and I absolutely love them. They're my favourite team in Scotland (alongside Celtic) and they have shiny orange kits like the 1970s Holland teams did. I'm positively in love with the way they play in their swashbuckling side, backed by the Tannadice Roar. It's a crime that this stadium only has one review... maybe Yelp is not so big in Dundee. If you ever go up to Scotland and you like football, do what I did. Take a chance, go in the wind and the rain and sit at Tannadice and be amazed by the crowd and the team and the spirit of this city and club. I love this team a lot! Can't wait to go and watch them again. They play to 14k people, more than DFC, and they have a much sexier kit (orange). They are known as the Tangerines, or Terrors, or the Arabs - the supporters anyway. Not sure why. They play at Tannadice which means every time I hear Coldplay or Phil Collins singing about Another Day In Paradise, etc... I sing "Another Day In Tannadice." Ironically Celtic Park is nicknamed Paradise. They were originally Dundee Hibernian and they are the Irish (Catholic) half of Dundee. They were formed in 1909. Like DFC, they have only won the Scottish Premier once, and that was quite recently, in 1983, right around the time that Aberdeen were dominating. They've won the Scottish Cup twice recently, in 1994 and 2010. They won the Scottish League Cup in 1980 and 1981. They've been Scottish Cup runners up 5 times including 2005 and 2014. They were amazingly UEFA Cup runners up in 1987 and European Cup Semi Finalists in 1984. So a very storied history for this beautiful orange club.
