Finding Station Store was one of those make-or-break moments. I didn't have much time before my train and was in need of a late lunch; more than a snack you'd expect from a convenience store like this one. It had been a bit of a stressful day until now so, when I laid eyes on the fresh deli counter, I could have done a little dance. - That's just how happy I was! £1.30 for a tuna roll and I was on my merry way. It's basic, of course, but offering something that can't be found in the vicinity, especially on a Sunday afternoon, which was when my stomach grumblings hit. Service was on the chirpier side too. Whilst I wouldn't go out of my way to get back to Station Store, I know that it's there if I'm caught short again; and that's good enough in itself. read more

This branch of McColl's is a fairly big one for a convenience store and they stock a pretty good…read morerange of items. Everything from tins and jars, bread and baked goods, newspapers and magazines and beer and wine can be found here. There's even a reasonable selection of fresh and frozen food, as well as a few hot items (think hot dogs etc). Of course, being a convenience store, they're not the cheapest place to shop. On the other hand they are, you know, convenient. They're also not totally extortionate and they do run various offers so you can still find a good deal from time to time. The staff are friendly and chatty and the store is easy to get around. I never have any trouble finding what I'm looking for.
