The food was delicious and the staff were wonderfully efficient, accommodating, and professional. Before the event, we sampled the food at Cooper's Landing. From the very first bite, we were certain that they were the caterers for us. Working with Nichol was a pleasure and every step of the way, she guided us to the perfect menu. Their selections of appetizers and main dishes were vast including standard and elevated fare. We especially loved the fact that the appetizers could be ordered by quantity instead of per person. This allowed us to select a smaller quantity of certain appetizers that might not suit every palate and larger quantities of appetizers that would have a broader appeal. (We chose to prepare Family Style Desserts ourselves.) During and after the event we received rave reviews about all the food! The Signature Creamy Crab Dip was a huge hit as was the Baked Brie topped with Raspberry Compote. The North Carolina Pulled Pork Barbecue Sliders with 3 homemade toppings were huge and delicious. The Mini Shrimp & Grits were elegant and yummy. Friends in attendance who owned a very successful "up market" restaurant said that the beef medallions were cooked to perfection. At the end of this very long day, the catering staff left us with a clean kitchen at the venue and leftovers from the evening safely packaged and stored in the fridge for us to enjoy! We had such a wonderful time and experience! Molly and Nick, the owners are such a delight! It's such an elegant, beautiful and unique bed and breakfast they have designed! They both have extensive knowledge and background in the Zoological field. Molly is a vet tech and Nick a habitat designer for zoos, therefore their animals are in great care! I love how as guests you're involved in learning about their wildlife conservation efforts and about giraffes and interaction with their two resident giraffes Boomer and Tuzu. In fact, 3 experiences with the two giraffes are included (tea time with the giraffes on the veranda, feeding the giraffes and the next morning feeding again)! The manor is a historic landmark that was built in the 1800s that the Wildes' (current owners) recently purchased and renovated into an elegant safari inspired bed and breakfast tastefully decorated by Molly herself! They only have 5 rooms available which accommodates 2 to 4 people. Two rooms which accommodate 2 max ( flamingo and monkey room) , and the zebra room ( which we stayed in) can hold 3 adults. The leopard room and elephant room can accommodate 4-5. Each room contains their own private bathroom equipped with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, hand lotion and hand soap, toilet paper, bath towels and wash cloth. The zebra room is spacious and elegantly designed with two large window seats, one which is a nice view over the veranda! We were pleasantly surprised to check into our room and see Boomer and Tuzu outside our window! How awesome was that?! There is a twin sized pull out couch and two closets in the room. There is also a mini fridge available. All the guest rooms are located on the second floor so it is not handicap accessible. They do have a small museum located upstairs dedicated to historical items that were found in the home. It's pretty interesting! The floors are original wood floors! The bed was comfortable and the AC works very well! They had a full house during our stay! Eleven guests, fortunately they were all nice and easy going! You will collectively do your giraffe encounters altogether, but they go by groups by rooms so each family has one on one time to feed the giraffes and even pet them in the morning if the giraffes are up to it!! Be sure to arrive close to check -in time (2pm-2:30pm) so you don't miss out on your included experiences!! Additional experiences included with your stay are the tea time with light delicious sweet and savory bites with options of various iced tea or hot tea in the veranda with the giraffes ( their herbal tea was sooo good!), happy hour for an hour that includes alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks and a delicious hot breakfast buffet in the morning served in the dining room with juice and water. They do have a coffee station that is available during your stay as well. Your itinerary is pretty booked most of the day, so you probably shouldn't plan to do anything the day of check/in unless you don't mind missing the included experiences. I would recommend experiencing it all! Although, you should probably plan for dinner and lunch prior to check-in. They do offer other animal encounters at an additional cost- south african penguins, and lemurs. They are in the process of bringing in flamingoes in the future. All the staff were wonderful! Kerri/Carrie (I didn't catch the spelling of her name), was our animal educator majority of the time. She was great! You can tell how passionate and knowledgeable she is about the animals! It was so fun to talk to her and learn about the resident animals! We met Amina as well who was just as pleasant, but met her briefly. Thad is another kind staff member who helps with the giraffes and gave us a tour of the manor upon arrival. Kelsey, our bar tender during happy hour made some fabulous lavender lemon drop cocktails and some bourbon drinks! She was a joy and a lot of fun to chat with! Everyone was such a pleasure to meet!! During our lemur encounter, Molly taught us how to help train Vuli with a ball target on a rod and a clicker with fruit on a stick as reinforcement. Vuli is so adorable and I wanted to cuddle with her. Unfortunately, we were not able to touch or handle the lemur because You cannot touch a lemur in Virginia because state law strictly prohibits public interaction and direct physical contact with all non-human primates. I just absolutely loved everything about this place! I can't wait to return with my sisters to celebrate their birthday!

Each room is named according to the theme: the Zebra, the Monkey, the Flamingo, the Elephant, and the Leopard room! We stayed in the Zebra room and it was so so elegant! From the wallpaper to the floors, the paintings, rugs, and the window seats! Everything was just so unique. The bathroom has a beautiful black and white animal print wallpaper opposite the sparkling clean shower, which was very spacious! The grounds were well kept and tree-lined, so very private! The staff was amazing!! Maddie whipped up such an incredible afternoon tea and spread, as well as a fantastic full breakfast! Kelsey was an incredible bar tender, who worked her magic! She made me a nonalcoholic strawberry and lemonade and my sisters a lavender lemon drop and blackberry bourbon lemonade! Just phenomenal!! Molly and Amina were so great with the animals and introducing us to them and interacting with them as well! They explained everything about each animal! We met other guests from NoVa and Baltimore with their lovely kids and they were all so wonderful! We had tea with the giraffes on the verandah and ate breakfast in the morning in the dining room. The bar and study led to the verandah where the giraffes roamed just beyond. We had interacted with the penguins, Percy and Petunia! They were both soooo cute and vocal!!! Such a wonderful and memorable birthday celebration, my sister and I will cherish for years to come! Thank you, Janice, for such a special birthday gift!! We arrived to find a very clean and charming farmhouse with yummy cookies, a comfortable bed, and fascinating pictures and books. After a wonderful night's sleep, Jacqueline cooked an out-of-this world homemade farmhouse breakfast with fluffy eggs, sausage gravy, biscuits, fruit, jams--most of which was sourced right there from the farm. That morning, she took us on a complimentary tour of the farm and explained much of the history and operation of the farm. We fed a baby guinea hog from a bottle, fed hay to fainting goats, and toured the high tunnel garden and 18th century cabin on the property. Overall, it was a very delightful stay and we look forward to visiting again in the future!

I liked fishing the filled jars out of the hot water bath with a jar lifter. The guest accommodations are elegant, the community real country, hosts Jim and Jacqueline so willing to be of help, including with special dietary restrictions: Yes, although we don't eat pork we wanted to visit this heritage hog farm and they still made great breakfasts for us.

We got told to go to a million different places on the property and then we we were finally on track to find our room the owner of Berry Hill came up to us and told us the room we had booked was no longer available. She said that "an employee who no longer worked there" booked us in a room that isn't available for the weekend of the festival. She was incredibly condescending and was acting as if we did something wrong. They ended up putting us in a room that was much worse and smaller that the suite that we had booked. There was no apology for the mix up-- only the owner being rude and unkind towards us. You would think that she would want to make a good impression since this biggest weekend of the entire year for this resort. Besides our terrible check in experience, the hotel was nice. There were scratches on the floor but we had a nice balcony and big windows. We did find an ant in the bed though.
