TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE While looking for a new barber, I came across this shop on Yelp. Looked legit, cool spot and decided that I wanted to make an appointment. Weird that they require you to download their app to do so, but I did. They had an appointment available and I took it. Got there and several barbers working. Nowhere on the app did it assign you to a barber and they had no greeter or reception desk to check in. After watching several people walk in sit down immediately in a chair and get a cut, I realized that they don't even monitor this app that they require you to download. If you dont know a barber there, dont waste your time, find a new spot. I give negative stars read more

Stay Sharp Barbershop is great. I was lucky enough for them to squeeze me in for walk in. The place was packed with barbers and their clients. They greeted me when I entered and inquired about the services I needed. JP was able to give me a haircut and beard shave. He was very professional and gave me some suggestions on my haircut and tips on styling my hair. He did a great job and was able to finish quickly which was awesome. During the 3 months of quarantine my hair was getting really crazy. I tried cutting it once myself but couldn't get a close fade. When places started opening up I saw that this place was one of the few that were open. I haven't tried a lot of places around Lodi and have a hard time finding a good place. Made an appointment but they accept walk-ins two. Haircut is $25 but I also got a hard part and cleaned up my brows for an extra $10. I have navigated a few different barbers in the area, searching for a go to. I had visited Stay Sharp before but without appointment. I met Alex then (not knowing his name until today) and his professionalism and responsiveness, along with the presentation of the Shop, compelled me to try again. I called today and Alex answered, 2pm appointment. Two weeks of vacation and my bald head needed a shave and my wiry beard needed cleaning. It would require a patient and tentative barber - Alex delivered. I showed Alex a pic of my former handsome self and true to form, he returned me to my handsome self again. In all seriousness, he took his time, kept consulting with me, engaged in Barbershop chatter, and we both appreciated the Oldies but Goodies playlist in background. I found my barber. I wasn't going to leave a review because Ricky eventually gave me my money back only after arguing with me sayingthat's how I wanted my hair; every time I look in the mirror I get upset because this haircut is so bad there is no way it was not intentional. He had cut my hair twice before and did a great job and I always pay him extra along with the tip I spent like at least 50 60 bucks when I leave there and this time knowing I had a company christmas party to go to he just totally messed up my hair. I went in to Stay Sharp Barbershop as a walk-in. There was one walk-in in front of me, so I expected to wait. However, I didn't expect for an hour and a half to pass and neither of us to be taken to a chair. While I was considering leaving because of the wait time, the one white barber in the shop used the N word multiple times. Although his intention was casual and friendly and he wasn't using it in an overtly racist way, that still is not chill and should not fly with anyone. To me, it is common sense that white people should not be using any variation of the N word. Yet, not a single person in the barbershop called him out or checked him. I was referred here by a friend of mine and, I have to say I was very skeptical after reading their Yelp reviews but, I and my son just got our haircuts today and Jose did an amazing job and, his freehand beard work is legit! I had an appointment at 11:00am and didn't get take until about 20 minutes after but, I didn't mind because he had someone in the chair that he was finishing up which gave me the opportunity to spectate how he cuts hair plus, for anyone who really thinks you're going to be taken at an actual appointment time at a barbershop especially by a good barber you should already have it in your mind that it'll be a little bit of a wait. Giving 4 stars because I don't want to totally ruin their reputation but my son went in 2-3 weeks ago and his hair cut was not great. It was uneven and not blended properly. One side was higher, one side the shape was off. When my son mentioned it to the barber he supposedly fixed it and blended it more but really it was still not as it should be. It was noticeably different. He can't remember the dudes name but said he smelled like weed and his hand smelled like he had been eating chips or something before hand. I don't mind people smoking but come on, you're at work. Cover that up or something. Also, wash your hands or use gloves. Never sending my 14 year old alone again to a barber shop. Maybe when he's old enough to speak up until it's right. He did say the guy was friendly and seemed interested in his basketball stories and was encouraging him to keep on with his journey. read more

I'm not the kind of person who wants to mess up someone's reputation on Yelp. I truly hope this place succeeds. It's a nice, clean shop, and the guys working there in the front seem really cool. So you get 3 stars for the environment and the owner's demeanor. However. I made an afternoon appointment and when I came in 10 minutes ahead of my appointment, the dude who was supposed to cut my hair had clearly just started another client. He said "I'm just gonna take care of this guy first," but never communicated that it would be a long wait- just let me sit there while the time ticked away. At 30 minutes past my appointment time (40 minutes of sitting there), when he was still scissoring away on the other guy, I had to bail. I didn't have another 40 minutes for my own cut and who knows how long it would take for him to even get to me. When I make an appointment somewhere, I expect that to be "my time." If you made a mistake in your appointment book or are slammed and running behind that's totally cool- just be considerate and communicate, so your client can make decisions with their valuable time. read more
