Opened in 1935, it features a spacious entrance hall with a glass and steel roof. The station's main entrance leads directly to a large hall where tickets are purchased and information on several digital boards displaying train schedules prominently. There are 19 clearly marked platforms, and directional signs in multiple languages help guide passengers to their trains. The station houses several eateries, from quick snacks and coffee bars to sit-down restaurants. My partner, our friends, family member, and I waited here last Wednesday for our high-speed Italo train on our last leg to Rome. Andiamo!

It was a Sunday in Italy and we were completely stuck with no transport. Thomas arrived in a lovely, air-conditioned van, helped us with our bags, and immediately went out of his way to make sure we had the best possible experience. As soon as we got in the car, he told us all about Montepulciano -- the best vineyards to visit, what prices to expect, and how to get around. We hadn't booked anything, but Thomas contacted his friends and organised everything for us. He even took us to our hotel, waited patiently while we checked in, and never rushed us. He then arranged a taxi to collect us after our vineyard tour and even negotiated the price for us -- something we never asked him to do! At the vineyard, he personally walked us in and introduced us to his friends. Thomas truly saved our day and turned what could have been a stressful experience into one of the highlights of our Italian trip. He was incredibly kind, patient, generous, and genuinely wanted us to have the best experience possible. If you have the option to book this service, do it! Roberto was so knowledgeable and made sure we knew all the best places to visit along with the history of the beautiful Tuscan countryside! Literally across the street from the Duomo…read more We walked here from the train station... It's far when you're lugging your luggage. You are really in the centre of it all when you stay here. We buzzed their suite when we arrived and got let in. I waited at the bottom with my suitcase because a) I am lazy and b) my hubby was there to check us in and tell me what's what once he found out. When he came down to get me, I hauled my luggage up the flights of stairs. I could have taken the elevator, but it's one of those small, metal, open ones... I can huff it up. Our room is pretty standard. We chose the "shared bathroom" option, so we are sharing with one other room. I don't know if there is an option to have an ensuite here. I think that since it's an old house converted, there would only be a couple of rooms (if any) that would have that. When we opened our window, if we looked to the left, we had a perfect view of the Duomo. There is wifi, but neither of us could connect. How am I going to play Tapped Out? Luckily, there are other places that have wifi. I didn't want to bother either of the guys working there. My Simpsons could wait. This place is so central. It was so easy for us to walk about the city and come back to our room for a little rest. We were given codes to the gate and the main door rather than keys so we could come and go as we please. I would totally stay here again.

Sooooo easy to use, and WAY INEXPENSIVE!…read more We were doing a bit of sight-seeing outside of Florence, and hiring a private driver just wasn't going to cut it for us. We didn't need (or want!) to spend a ridiculous amount of money, and where we were going there were no trains. One day we had lunch reservations in Panzano in Chianti -- approx 60min ride only 3.80EUR each way. The other trip was to visit the Florence American Cemetary - approx 30min ride, only 2.30EUR each way. So basically, the SITA location is probably Southwest of the SMN train station. So if you were facing the train station, it would be to your left. This is the small little hub, complete with waiting area, for the regional buses. The buses were very clean, and in good condition. More like coach buses - - much better than what I was expecting. You go inside, and purchase your ticket from the office - -you can purchase round-trip if you'd like. Or... you can also purchase the one-way from your destination too, most likely at a Tabacchi store. Buses are very timely and on-schedule. I would definitely recommend using the SITA for any regional travel.

Our hotel was situated a few blocks from the main train station in Florence...the Santa Maria Novella train station. However, the only trains available from SMN to CT were all regional trains, which means it would take twice as long and stop at all the smaller towns. Plus the regional train would require a change of trains at Pisa with only 5 minutes to do so. To me, that just sounded like a disaster waiting to happen. So naturally, booking train tickets from Campo di Marte was a no brainer. We asked our hotel to assist us in getting a taxi to the train station since it's situated a few miles from the center of Florence. No problem in getting transported there. The train station is small and once you locate your platform, you will need to climb stairs to the upper level. Boarding was smooth and we were served snacks and coffee on the train. We also booked the nonstop high speed train back to Campo di Marte, which arrived at 10:00 pm. Unlike busier train stations, there are no taxis waiting at arrivals. It was dark, quiet and outside of the city center. I tried getting an Uber, but after 30 minutes of waiting, I gave up. Luckily I saved the taxi service's business card. I gave them a call and within 10 minutes, we had a cab pick us up. Whew! Keep that in mind if you decide to book this train station. What can I say? It's a train station. A plain one. No fluff, no restaurants, just good ole train service. I would do it again just to avoid a lengthy, uncomfortable, jam packed regional train any day. Our train ride was comfortable, clean, and fast!

So when I saw the total at the cash register to buy two pairs, I changed my mind and decided to forgo one pair. The staff seemed a bit pushy for the sale and asked me quite directly, 'Why? You're getting £10 off.' I explained my reasons but it was clear that the staff at the checkout didn't care, and seemed to give me lots of attitude afterwards. Felt like a walking $ sign for the sales staff. Tourists beware!
