My sis and I came back here for the 2nd time. This time to celebrate her birthday with her friends, we tried the Missing Season. We loved how beautifully the rooms are decorated and Gamemaster Manny was super nice, friendly and helpful in making the escape game enjoyable. Thank you for the great pics, GM Manny! We had so much fun that we spontaneously booked The Lost Expedition right after we finished Missing Season It nice that they gave us 20% coupon off for the 2nd room. I appreciate that their rooms are NOT the horror-scary type but more on the magical-adventure type. Now that I completed all three rooms, each room does have unique puzzles & riddles and I enjoy how the puzzles are connected to the lore of that room. It is super interactive & detail oriented and it's really important to be observant. I would say all rooms are family-friendly. The puzzles are tricky enough that these rooms might be hard if it is your 1st time escaping. However, the staff do a really good job of guiding through and really wanting you to enjoy the experience that makes it beginner friendly. Except Lost Expedition - that one is a very challenging but oh so fun! I adore the scifi hi-tech in Neighbor, the super cute ending of Missing Season ( a nice touch ), and the props of Lost Expedition. I wish Steal and Escape to have more rooms in the future for us to try because I like how they format and create their rooms and how nice their staff are. Other Pro: parking lot is still spacious and easy to find plenty of free parking spots. Free Lockers storage to put belongings away. Main door is unlocked so you can use the restroom anytime. Did The Missing Season room with four people, which is probably near the upper limit of what would be comfortable in terms of things for individual people to do at once. Can definitely be done with fewer people, but would not personally recommend many more. Definitely was more of a for fun experience than a challenge, but I greatly enjoyed it. The story seemed like a crutch to force puzzle flow, but I feel like that was done in a fairly unique way and not an overall detriment to the room. Very efficient use of space. The best part was our host, Manny, who not only voiced the narration, but also replied in character to our questions and banter. He seemed very good about gently redirecting our flailing and keeping us on track. Unique and memorable set up and puzzle mechanics. We had also previously long ago done their Mysterious Stranger room that has been replaced by a new room, The Neighbor. We have been assured the room has been completely redesigned despite occupying the same space, so I'll probably be back eventually to check it out. That room was one of the best ones we've done before in terms of puzzle density, variety, and use of limited space. My partner and I did the Missing seasons escape room. The minimum charge is for 3 people but we are able to play with two which I appreciate! Huge shoutout to Manny our game master! Super nice guy, enthusiastic, helped us when we needed help and we had fun discussing the game :). The room itself was pretty unique in terms of concept, puzzles, and introduction and ending to the room. Definitely not a lock and key room, which was great! Immersive (even in terms of temperature). I think we got 2-3 hints with two people so an experienced group can definitely do it with 3-4! Bathroom was clean. Lockers available and puzzles while you wait. Overall was a great experience. We have done 100+ rooms and we booked The Neighbor as our first room and The Lost Expedition as our second room. We played them back to back. Our team of five absolutely LOVED The Neighbor room. There was plenty for all of us to do and the way you interact with the house was freaking awesome. We all had a blast in this room. We also really enjoyed The Lost Expedition and it had a lot of cool elements + a split start. Overall the puzzles didn't flow as well as the first room, so our favorite ended up being The Neighbor. I booked a session for Saturday at 1pm maybe 2 weeks in advance. A lot of the other slots were taken that day but I was happy with 1pm. You have to pay for at least 3 tickets. You can add up to 8, I believe. I paid for the rest when I got there. Plenty of parking spaces. They have lockers to put your stuff. We had a group of 5 for a mom's day out activity. We chose The Neighbor. I've done an escape room before but I had never heard of a steal and escape. The company we worked for wanted us to steal technology from a neighbor and escape. There are several rooms set up for this. We had so much fun figuring out everything. Being able to ask for hints and clues were a big help. We got out with 5 min to spare. One thing's for certain when playing any escape room game designed by their creative & talented owner Jason, it WILL be original! Without giving anything away that might spoil your experience, your game begins in a way you never thought it would. Then there's surprises along the entire way that not just feels like a puzzle game, but that you're also immersed in this fantasy world the entire time you're playing. And their escape rooms and props aren't just turnkey games they paid for and assembled over a weekend. You'll be able to tell this game took months and many hours of labor to finally complete (you'll see when you end up playing it). Each section of the journey encounters a whole new set of challenges which you and your group will enjoy trying to figure out. There's a reason the max number of players is set for 5, as it would get pretty crowded with any more players as you navigate through the game. While our group managed to escape, we were so immersed that we lost our sense of time (something we never lose track of) but it was so much fun, we forgot about time altogether. Thank goodness we managed to defeat it. If you have a group of 5 players, book this room as we guarantee you'll have an awesome time! They definitely hit another Home Run with this escape room! I played many escape rooms over the past years and this was definitely in the top 10 for me! We did the Lost Expedition room, which was very different from other escape rooms I had experienced. It was very high-tech and role-based, and the room design was incredible. Don't want to give too much away but will be back for their other rooms. The Game Masters were super enthusiastic and helpful and made the game much more enjoyable. When we finished we realized we had unknowingly skipped a part, The GM let us do the puzzle before leaving! As someone who is an escape enthusiast and has done close to 100 rooms, this company is a must do of San Diego. Our group of five did Lost Expedition. Immersion 10/10 In this game you start with different roles that impact the way you play. Right off the bat our group was hyped that we each were going to get our own unique experience. Going into the room, it felt like we were transported into the dig site. As we continued to explore, every little detail was thought of from the types of locks used, to really cool uses of technology. The story made logical sense as we continued threw the game. Puzzles 9.5/10 The puzzles were ingenintive and tied perfectly to the theme. Nothing felt out of place and everything our team completed made it feel like we were actually immersed in our environment. The reason I'm giving a 9 is because our group flew threw the room and got out with time to spare , so part of me wishes there were even more puzzles but I am biased Hosting Our game master was amazing and the owner of the company came and introduced himself and took time to chat with us about his love for escape games. One of THE BEST escape rooms in San Diego!!! My bf and I have completed over 30 escape rooms and Steal and Escape is by far one of the best, most unique escape rooms we've ever done! Friends and I were looking for something fun to do last minute on a Saturday night, and it was sooo cool of them to accommodate us around 10pm that night!! Went on a little staycation with my lovely lady down in San Diego and wanted to start it off with an escape room! However, traffic had other plans in mind.. What should've been a 2 hour drive quickly turned into 3, causing us to be late to our game by 30 minutes! I absolutely hated having this happen as I know how tight an escape room's schedule can be.. BUT THANKFULLY, we had an extremely kind and accommodating GM by the name of Tanya (THANK YOU TANYA!!). She let us know that we'd still be able to play, and I bet she probably had to work harder and faster to make sure the game was perfectly set for the next guests. But regardless, she was super kind to us and greeted us with all the warmth and hospitality that people as late as we were didn't deserve. As far as the game itself goes, BRILLIANT use of technology! Wow! We had such a great time for my husband's birthday. I called ahead and spoke with Marqueta, and booked a reservation the same night. It was during the week, so I think they weren't as busy. Needless to say, it was our VERY FIRST escape room and it was thrilling and super fun! What I mostly like about this place is that they only charge for children over 7. Makes sense, since most small children can't really participate that much. We had a blast with our two boys, age 6 and 4. In total, there were 5 adults and 2 small kids and I thought that was just the right amount of people to share the experience with. We were able to finish the room with 6 minutes remaining!!! The staff were super nice and helpful - even though I messed up the time and arrived 2 hrs early they came in and set it up for us anyway. Julia was a great host! We did The Neighbor with a 4 person group. Really liked the AI hints and spotlights, and the use of digital puzzles. It was challenging but not frustrating, we were able to finish in time but felt like we got our money's worth. The facility was clean and well kept up. Also, lots of parking is a big plus. What a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. This was an outing for my youngest son's Boy Scout Patrol. They learned a lot about working together and team work. I won't give away the scenario but I will say they were challenged. Great ownership and employees that are fast to respond and will to work with us. Amazing price!!! A really well put together escape room experience. We love escape rooms and we are really happy we found this one. Went to steal and escape on a weekend. Parking was super easy since its located by a bunch of offices which were all closed. We went after the mysterious stranger and found that it was a nice break from the normal escape room games. The puzzles were challenging but doable. They had a nice mix of simple puzzles to get you moving along with a few more complex ones. The puzzle progression was mostly linear so perfect for a small group of people. Ambiance of this room was pretty good. The décor was solid but no extras that add to it at all. This unassuming door in an industrial park in National City opens up to three different fun escape rooms. The world-building is excellent, with well-thought out backstories. They are creepy but not too scary for the younger members of your party. My favorite is " The Neighbor" which has lots of puzzles to solve including some great effects. "Marlene" is the best! We did "The Neighbor" and it was the perfect amount of challenging (we made it out just under 60 minutes) . The design of this room has been our favorite thus far, including several new challenges that we had never even seen or though of! We loved how interactive the room was with us and the owners were very nice as well! Unlike many other rooms we've experienced, we weren't just handed hints when we did not ask. My three teens had a great time at Steal and Escape. They did The Neighbor and finished just under the 60 minutes. The rooms were easy to navigate and the puzzles hard, but not too hard. They enjoyed the storyline and were quite fond of the high tech elements of the game. Without giving too much away, the scare was their favorite part. The location is easily accessible with plenty of free parking. The game assistant was friendly and helped when needed.
