Very casual atmosphere and popular for lunch. This is the second time I've come here and it always takes a while to get the food. This visit was about 30 minutes after we ordered but it is lunch rush. Portions are good and leave you filled. I always get the Clinton Club, you can't go wrong with a club sandwich. read more

The food was definitely worth the wait for how long we had! Honestly didn't need to be towards 30 mins but I have no clue how big the kitchen staff is but the food is phenomenal. The only reason I'm giving it a 3 star is due to the less of attention by staff as we rarely got refills and they did forget my girlfriend's sweet potato fries. The owner on the other hand did nothing the entire time but basically write wartime letters for the entire hour or two we were here. He applied no help to the girls or checked in with the customers. We saw this restaurant featured on WSPA a while back and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! We expected to wait a while for our food, but it was worth the wait. I tend to drink a lot of liquids at a meal and my glass was refilled often. All the members of the staff were friendly and helpful. I had the hamburger plate which came with fries and slaw. My wife had the country fried steak (fork tender) with rice and gravy and fried okra. Everything was great. My parents and I were going to go to a cafe in Joanna, but it was closed for the holiday weekend so we happened upon this place in Clinton. We were delighted to find it! The grits were perfectly seasoned and cooked to the right consistency, eggs were done properly, prices were unbeatable, and the staff was extremely courteous. We came for breakfast but I noticed they had grilled PBJ on the menu, one of my favorites. The only thing my father "missed" was that they didn't have jelly readily available already on the table. I wanted to like this place, and tried to wait patiently to do so, but in the end, 2 stars is all I can manage. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon approx 1 hour before closing. The place was relatively busy (maybe 50% full) but people were finishing their lunch and leaving. Ordered two blue plate specials at approx 1:06pm. At 1:25, the server (who was very prompt) stops by to tell us that our order will 'be right out, we cook it all fresh'. At 1:40, I go to back to see if there is some problem with our order. Server says 'we are really busy today with to-go orders so kitchen is slammed. She offers free dessert for our trouble. Order finally arrives at 1:45ish. The food was OK, but fried Okra was overcooked which almost made it inedible. To her credit, the server was quick on water refills, and on taking our initial order, but there is no way I would have waited 40 mins for the food that we received. The only bright spot of the day was he lemon cake, which was very tasty! So, I have to say, avoid this place until this issue gets resolved. read more

Steamers is a fun place for lunch- if you want to spend the big bucks. The service is great, no complaints there. The reason I would give steamers 2 stars is simply the cost of a sandwich- about $10 for a turkey bacon grinder plus about $3 for sweet potato fries. If you add a drink you're looking at 16.00 for 1 person without tip. 2 people can eat at Outback or Longhorns for about 25.00 for dinner. For 2 of us at steamers it's at least 25.00 :( and that's lunch only cuz it's only open till 2, so if you don't want to spend a lot of money out or want to go on a date at night, it isn't worth it. also, for all the PC students out there, steamers quit their free dessert cards. It's such a big incentive to spend money out on food in Clinton (dempseys pizza has a free pizza card) and that adds up! It's the biggest let down that they stopped the free dessert. read more

We went there last weekend, met an old "college" friend some 40 years (!) later to get caught up. The food was great, and the staff was excellent. I don't usually bother with reviews, but the downton in Clinton (a halfway meeting place for us between Greenville and Columbia) seems to be struggling.
