I was attacked at Steamworks Bath Vancouver on April 4th, 2023. I was tied up by my wrists with a bungee cord and my attacker forced himself on me. When I tried to scream he put a pillow over my face. I was sexually assaulted and robbed. I was in shock and I walked up to front desk but I wasn't sure how to ask for help. A lovely gentleman working at front desk at the time noticed I was acting strange. He asked me if I was ok. I said I was fine and on my way back to my room I saw my attacker again. So I went back to the front desk. I must've been there a few times until the gentleman asked me what was going on. I was still trying to make sense of things and I started to have a melt down. As I was checking out of the club, he suggested I should call the police. My following visit was a few days after. I was surprised to find out I was banned from the club. When I asked for the reason I was not allowed in, the manager said it was because there is a police investigation. When I told the constable in charged of my case. He was confused and said there is no conflict of interest. The investigation is over. Today is my birthday, so I called the club to make sure I am allowed to enter. The staff on duty advised me to go speak to the manager in person as he does not take phone calls. When I saw the manager, I said hello and asked him how he is today. His response was "what do you want?" I said I understand I was not allowed in the club while there was a police investigation. But now the investigation is over, how do we go from here ? He said he doesn't know that it's over and snapped at me when I looked confused. He said "don't give me that look" and continued to talk over me as I was asking questions to clarify the situation. He interrupted me and said if I had said I was sorry about what happened, he may have let me in. I said I'm not sorry I got attacked. I did nothing wrong. He further claimed "there was an altercation between two of you so both of you are banned." When I clarified there was no altercation. It was assault. He then escalated and said "I get to describe it however I want. For the safety of our members and for yourself, the ban continues." I asked him how am I being 5'6" 120 lbs a threat to anyone. A that's when he further made an accusation and verbally attacked me by saying, "they better not call me to testify, because you were as high as a kite that day." The club has a struck bag check policy. If people can get "as high as a kite" on the property, then they must admit their negligence. It would take a sociopath to have no empathy with the distraught behavior of a sexual assault victim. He is incredibly disrespectful. I got assaulted in the club. Not only is there a lack of safety protocol to prevent such attack to begin with. The aftermath is worse. Other establishments would have at the very least apologize for their own negligence for letting a violent crime happen in the first place. Or at least refund the membership I had just paid for that day if they were to ban me. That would be a decent human thing to do. The constable also placed them at top 5 of establishments not cooperative with investigations. The manager's poor dismissive attitude further victimize me again by punishing me when I have done nothing wrong. To this day, when I asked what I have done wrong to get punished, he still could not verbalize a valid reason. Like a 5 year old, he said "this is a private club. I can let in whoever I want." Thankfully I recorded our conversation today. I'm writing as I am reviewing the recording for accuracy. I am a school teacher who has quit drinking since 2012. And the club has a strict bag search. If anyone snuck in any narcotics, it would be due to the clubs negligence. Recently, an acquaintance is banned for 3 months due to drug use. But I get banned indefinitely for being assaulted. Perhaps shutting me up by shutting me out is their way of keeping my story from spreading. And the conversation may bring a lot more similar incidents to light. Wednesday, May 30th, 2018 Just walked slowly back home for six downtown blocks while humming songs, and it's only just 4:07am when I reached my apartment and grabbed my charging phone and screenshot this. Why? I'm below 25 and the free locker thing runs through Tuesday 4pm to Wednesday 4am weekly. I arrived the branch with its "checking-out" clock saying 11:50am (as in its 3:50am at the moment since it's 8hrs stay standard charging). I was so much relieved since when I walked pass by CBC it said 3:51am which made me werrrrrk and ran a few blocks to get to the spot before cutting off time. Then the "dead-inside" Jeff not only told me, "oh my system is 4:02am now so that I cannot do anything" but using the as ironic and non-empathetic voice as he could to just rub it in. We all now how working in a space like that does to you, or, at least some of you and I, and it's undeniable he's an old bitter man any time of the day, at least to me, the past 30 something times, no matter tight passing each other in Chinatown-Stadium station or bumped into while taking a smoking break outside of Pint. The good thing is, not really offended from my part. Butt since it happened, I just wanna point out the 12mins discrepancy between the checking-out clock and the system. The structure tries to make sure you leave in time to not get over-charged simply because you left within a small window of delay. And the window is 12mins now I figure. Miss all the other old people for graveyard two years ago, butt who knows, maybe I'll see them again somewhere and I'll be PERCHING again. You know what I'm talking about when you read this, the person jajajajajajajaj. Every one have a GR8 time and I guess I'll be able to go to a Steve Nash in, A HOUR..... I'd have to say, apart from being sexually assaulted in the establishment, I don't have too bad experiences here. It is an interesting chain. I still haven't managed to go into the Seattle one and other ones after passing by them in different cities, they have been some stability in my life, even it's just super random. To be honest, next time I come in to pay for anything, I would probably be there for a free and like-free STBBI check-up with three-Bridge volunteers. Apart from that, it's the easiest place to see the racialization, as in how different groups having cliques of their own, the hierarchy, the verbal abuse, the sexual violence, the objectification/exoticization/fetishization/dehumanization etc. You learn a lot just by walking around the space and billing your hedonism from fantasizations. It's much more than that Dutch short film about a kid emotionally attached to a slightly older man after an encounter in a bathhouse. The boyfriend and I were in town for the weekend and after a couple of days of walking the city we were ready for a soak. And sweat. And public displays of affection. We've been to a few bathhouse in the past and this one was one of the most fun. After finding the doors to the space, we paid for our lockers and got ready while a special dj mixed in the corner wearing a jockstrap and nothing else. In the locker space, you also have some workout machines if that's something you're into. On the rest of this first floor you have the rest rooms, showers, hot tub, dry and wet sauna, and a special hidden room with a bed for those who like to showoff. The hot tub could be a little bigger. A bout four normal sized guys or 6 smaller could fit in here at one time. The wet sauna was nice and warm, my favorite way to relax. The dry sauna was dry but also kind of cold, which is why we decided to warm it up. We were there Saturday night after a couple drinks so there was a good crowd and a wide mix of age, color, and body size. In my defense, I was forced here. With a gun pointed to my head. Well, maybe not a gun, but definitely something that could shoot. So I was really surprised by how clean and nice this facility was - well-kept, to my eyes, with pretty modern finishes. After checking in, you enter past two sets of doors. After that, there's a seating and workout area up front, then the obligatory locker area. Lighting is dim and ultimately, yes, flattering, but not so dark that you can't see who you're talking to. The "wet area" is towards the back of the main floor. Again, decorated with very modern, masculine touches, dark bath tiles, free-standing porcelain sinks, and touches of slate here and there. There's a row of showers that are all motion activated, with excellent water pressure, at the perfect warm temperature, several gel soap dispensers, and multiple screens overhead playing several different - films. Hot tub is in that same area, weirdly positioned, up a couple of steps and overlooking the shower area. The hot tub itself is small compared to others I've seen. Smelled like chlorine, though, which in my mind is a good and critically important thing. Off to the other side is the dry sauna and steam. Both are connected by a door in the middle, which is pretty unique. Again, surprisingly nice spaces, adequate room for seating. And more. Downstairs are all the many, many private rooms, dark corners and spaces. There's a central clearing right at the foot of the stairs where there's a large flat screen and benches lining the walls facing it - for, you know, group activities and those who wish to watch. There's a sink area with a well-thought mouthwash station. Further back, there's a small computer area where you can access the internet (who wouldn't want to update their facebook status while at Steamworks) or, I don't know, input numbers into an excel file. Safety is reinforced (with posters and lots of condom dispensers), they have a no drugs, no alcohol policy. Yeah, there are a mix of guys - emphasis on the word "mix.". I imagine, depending on the night, you may find better variety than others. Good manners and politely saying no are taken pretty well here. Ultimately, guys come here for, usually, one reason. And I'd say this is a good place to find it in Vancouver. But if not, you can at the very least get a nice dry or wet steam, an awesome shower experience, all while being able to watch some quality films. That and you can check your email before you go. The saying, "There's a first time for everything," resonated with me on my visit. And if you're like me, you'll find it a decent place to come, maybe come again, then leave saying the exact same thing. read more

I was here on February 2nd to unwind after a long day of work and during my stay, my wallet was stolen from the lockbox by an employee working that evening. The next day after receiving alerts on my mobile banking app, I realized my wallet was taken during my time at Steamworks and quickly I cancelled all my cards to ensure that there were no more charges being made. After filing a police report and speaking directly to the GM on a solution, my wallet was turned in anonymously. I've now had to subscribe to credit monitoring services at personal expense and had the tedious job of having to replace all my cards and ID's. I was provided with a few free room passes as a sorry and they paid for the replacement of one piece of ID. I will not be heading back there anytime soon and I would warn anyone who frequents this space to report any thefts to the police and for anyone whos thinking about going to Steamworks... keep your belongings on you. Staff have full access to the mailboxes eventhough they say you're the only keyholder. read more

The location is perfect close to sky train, buses on the street, and close to pubs. I've had very good experiences here but my problem is the cleanliness in general. Downstairs in the back dark area stinks, literally stinks, smell like shit. Careful where you put your feet cause you can be walking over used condoms and other liquids. I also have been at the Chicago branch and the story is different. Management should take a look of others in some USA cities and European cities and do a bench. Also in New West there is one place that keeps extremely clean and neutral smells. read more
