The cottages were a little dated and very basic, right on the beach with incredible lake views. Steps to the lake, access to your own small strip of beach including lounge chairs and fire pit. WiFi/cell service was spotty. There are kitchen supply essentials for your convenience, but stop at the Walmart in town for groceries or any of the many party stores on your way. The cottages are a short drive in either direction to Oscoda or East Tawas, where you'll find grocery, gas stations, chain eateries plus a handful of local places, and a few options for entertainment like bowling and movies. Super adorable Alpena is about an hour away and Mackinac Island is roughly 3-4 hours, if you fancy a day trip.

Panelling, old carpet, older looking furniture, but very cozy. Our unit had two bedrooms, a tiny kitchenette area, a living room and dining room area that kind of blended together. The AC worked great and there was a cable Tv in the living room. It's got a cabin feel to it, but again, was very nice. What really made the place great was it's sitting right on the lake shore. Our unit was a short walk across the parking lot to the beach area. There was shuffle board, a fire pit, a playground and plenty of beach area and chairs available. There was even a couple wood swings and a cornhole game set up. The owners were super friendly. Each unit has a charcoal grill that we used. The room had dishes and silverware. A coffee maker but no filters. The beds were cozy, and the place was really quiet. Our unit was right near the main road and we didn't even hear the traffic. I would definitely stay here again, we wished we could of stayed a few days longer after only staying one day. The price was right too, I think our off season rate (after Labor Day) was only $75 a night.

My husband and boys were in need of a place due to covid and this was the last availability in the vicinity. It was a dump. They walked in and walked right out again and refused to stay. It needs to be demolished. It was the middle of a windstorm and it felt like the whole place was going to fall in. The floor was not level, the place was dark, dank and drafty. The owner is extremely confrontational and difficult to deal with, not someone you want to do business with. Find somewhere else to stay. We tried to call 2 separate numbers and kept getting a 'this is a voice call number'. So then tried to text the owner stating he misrepresented the property, not staying and wanted and refund. He called me a liar, said no one ever showed up, refused a refund, just basically yelled and screamed. He wanted to meet in person to discuss this, which was a huge red Flag and I obviously declined.
