Last year, we got to see an oud and vocal concert downstairs. It was a delight and a group of volunteers had set up an art station where my child could make buttons. These buttons are all still in our rotations. The library is beautiful and an extremely restful place to enjoy a hot tea around your performance.

I drove to the post office and what looked like a St.Bernard and a German Shepard came from no where and just started fighting. Almost every house was a trailer as far as I can see. Nothing wrong with trailers or trailer parks if they're somewhat well kept, but ugh no. There is nothing in this town, of course, and it doesn't look like it get's much action. Glad this was my first and last stop in Bucoda.

At a first cursory glance, there is not much to it as there are only limited businesses to see. On my last trip there I was given a tour of the old Town Hall by one of the town officials and learned some fascinating facts about the two-story concrete building. Joe's Place serves excellent burgers and fries and has been a family owned and operated business for 113 years. They must be doing something right. The town once was the largest town in Thurston County and was around when Washington was still a territory. It was the location of the first territorial prison and had a huge lumber operation at one time. Definitely not ready for the bulldozers as one reviewer has said.

There is a small parking lot out front of the building where visitors to the town hall can park their vehicle. Out front there is also a ballot drop box and a large sign laying out a timeline of the Town of Woodway. A quiet place to come and drop off your ballot if you live nearby and/or have concerns for your safety dropping your ballot off at a different location. The grounds around the town hall are beautifully curated and the building itself presents a modern-rustic feel. Also a fun place to come and learn about the history of Woodway. My mom and I visited in mid-September 2020 and we enjoyed reading the timeline and posted notices on the Town Hall building, it was closed at that time due to COVID-19.

Can't cut trees, can't have more than three pets, no roosters. The city wants to 'rewild' the city at citizen cost in safety for both citizens and their domestic animals. In the 28 years of living here the city has become much less safe. Wild animals are overrunning the city including rats from the city's unkempt Blyth Park. Latest is a cougar in people's backyards. The Bothell police officer I talked to about the puma public safety threat said the public must defend itself against 130 pound predators. Currently the City of Bothell has an extremely aggressive, over-empowered, unprofessional animal code enforcer evicting and confiscating people's valuable animal property without due process of law, fining pet owners for perceived minor infractions, citing animal cruelty and neglect, and getting pets killed, and owners traumatized and feeling raped. All with the apparent support of Bothell's Police Department as police officers have accompanied the code enforcer to people's homes. So pumas on the prowl are okay, poodles, barn cats, and roosters not okay. The city does not control its own vegetation and animals, but hyper-controls citizens vegetation and animals. Not at all welcoming. Backwards policies. All at a very high cost in property taxes. In addition to not providing physical security, indeed threatening citizen's peace with the aggressive animal code enforcer and police, the city, because of their poor tree management, does not provide electricity security. The power goes out often and often for prolonged periods. Most homeowners have been forced to get generators. If you are in an apartment or condo, darkness and cold await you. We definitely do not recommend living in this city as it is at present. Sign us, 28 year residents looking for a kinder, more sensible place to live.

There are some standout restaurants here (Amaro Bistro, Poquitos, McMenamins Tiki restaurant above the lagoon, to name a few..) and it's a small town with a cute and safe small town vibe. There's still a Baskin Robbins, local bridal shops, and also a local lady-owned tattoo shop (she is so talented there's a huge wait-list). I am always up for a stroll in downtown Bothell and can't wait to see how the city continues to grow!

I was promised $850, spent $150 on supplies, paid $320 to workers, and drove 90+ miles -- and I've been ghosted by everyone involved. No one from the City will respond, and the contractor has a history of not paying laborers. This is wage theft, and the City of Kirkland is responsible for letting it happen. I've filed complaints and will take this public until I'm paid.

Kirkland has many unique features i've not found in other cities i've lived in or done business…read morewith. One is their vast volunteer opportunities. A good portion of their normal operations are supported by not just their staff..but volunteers. The Juanita Friday Market is 100% volunteer driven. The City Hall receptionist(s)..volunteers. whether you want just a few hours here or there, are looking for a schedule, or want to get involved on a long-term basis, there is positions for you. One time projects, administrative support, events..it's ever-changing and tons to choose from. The City also funds Neighborhood Associations. Through 2 year grants, they allow each defined neighborhood (Juanita, Totem Lake, Rose Hill, Houghton, etc) to establish a volunteer Board non-profit association status to directly improve and support their neighborhoods. There have been great projects founded or carried out by these associations. I've been on the Board of mine for some time now, and it's been a really fun learning experience and a great way to get directly involved in my neighborhood area. I've also been impressed with the City's responses to things like snow removal, clearing leaves from storm drains and various tasks we all love to bitch about when a government isn't doing it to our liking. Their commitment to open space, parks, re-establishing habitats and tree canopies, low-impact development and the environment lifts them above other cities nearby, as well. Sure, there are things I wish they did better, like support small business (I have heard so many nightmare stories from biz owners I know at how difficult it is to work with them), be more transparent and maybe just do things "my way" on a few subjects..but of all the areas I've lived out here..they really do a lot of really cool things and work hard to preserve and support this beautiful area.

For one day, the city united and celebrated a 2nd SuperBowl Title by the Seattle Seahawks…read more It was a big bourbon street all over Seattle, a big Mardi Gras, elation, cheers, tears, screaming, and bliss. A Beautiful day for sure to display the 12's pride and joy parading down 4th St on foot, bus, trucks, convoys and so on. Alcohol free flowing on the streets :) without malice and only good vibes. Win or Lose, we love our Seahawks, wish everyday, everywhere could have the same vibe everyday. It doesn't cost anything to be kind, spread the love. These moments give hope to humanity, in a most f'ed up world we live in right now, a day like this reminds us to always stay positive and look forward.

It's so funny that you can review a city. I know Seattle gets a lot of hate for being leftist…read more(blessedly true) and expensive (also true), but it's also my favorite US city. After 14 years here, there's simply no beating Seattle's beautiful greenery and waterfront, vibrant and diverse neighborhoods, or welcoming and progressive politics. We do pay a premium for all that awesomeness, but it's worth it. And all these great photos? Just a random camera roll selection from this past month. It's really that nice here.

There isn't much to say about Lake Forest Park. It is a very nice city and is very small. It has…read moregrown substantially over the past few years though and continues to grow. The "downtown" area is center around a large white building which houses the majority of the administrative and government offices. There is a lot housed in the one building though and it seems as though all the stores are situated in this one area of the city. I did notice the police department right away but there is also a quite nice public library & town hall along with a few other cute shops. It's a really quaint city which feels extremely safe. That might explain why the population is blowing up.
