The guy working here on Monday really saved the day. I was going for my first ride of the season but both my tires were flat. I went to Walmart to buy a pump (I realize that this makes me a dildo) and the pump snapped the screw off of the tube. I had a bit of a nervous breakdown and gave up for the day. Then I decided to google bike shops in the area and found this one. I went in and my bike was ready to go in a few minutes. Dude was super nice too. They have a great selection and they are a family owned store which is a rare find for an outfitter these days. Their end of season sales are great. Also Columbia County has lower taxes for clothes under a hundred bucks. Definitely check it out-- super helpful staff. Help keep them in business! read more

Amazing spot in Hudson! Such friendly staff - something hard to come by in the area - who are down to earth and helpful.

This is not a complete review. All we did with this store was rent two bikes for a days riding around Hudson. However the bikes were in great shape (Trek) and we really had a good time tooling around on an extensive ride. The two staff people we dealt with were friendly and helpful. My feeling is that if I lived in Hudson this is a store I would feel comfortable using for my sporting needs. read more

I had gone to a couple of local bike shops looking for a mountain bike. Nobody had what I wanted in stock and it was a considerable wait to have what I wanted shipped in or they wouldn't order a bike for me at all. I went to Steiners on a Monday and although they didn't have what I wanted in stock they ordered it and I had it by Friday. The salesman, the manager and the bike tech were all very nice and extremely friendly. It was a real pleasure to buy my bike from them. I'm also very happy with my bike. read more

I am giving this store one star because it's not possible on Yelp to rate them any lower. Yesterday my wife and her friend (Both Japanese) Went to Steiner and rented bikes to use for the last part of their journey. Approximately 30 minutes in one bike had a problem. Something happened with the chain and my wife had to try and fix it herself. Unable to get the bike to work properly they had to return to the shop. Here the mechanic took 10 minutes to look at the bike, They were now way behind schedule and had to opt for a car service to get to their destination on time. Any reasonable business which wants to curry favor with customers and hopefully garner a good review would have offered some sort of discount on the fee they were charged. Steiner charged them both the full 24 hour rental which came to $37.80 each including Tax. So essentially their journey was messed up and Steiner apparently cared nothing. These were not two Japanese tourists who will never be back in the USA. And even if they were what kind of business operates like this. When I called to speak with the owner (Glory) she had absolutely no empathy for my wife and her friend and did not offer any percentage of a refund. Saying we have no way to do that, which is patently ridiculous. We may have to explore a charge back. read more

I was very unhappy with Steiners with my last 2 repairs. I suppose after the first botched repair I should have known better. The spokes on my tire are coming loose up the point that the wheel is wobbling. It's a new wheel! They just installed it a few days ago. I suppose when every failed repair only results in more repairs that incentive to fix the bike is reduced. I'm getting out while the getting is good. You'd be smart to do the same. Update: after working to re-true the wheel I discovered why the spokes were so loose. It's because the owner's son who ripped me off and gave me the more expensive wheel instead of the one I ordered... that guy and circumstance, the reason why. Is because the rim isn't actually centered. It can't be. It's the wrong part for the bike. Instead of shipping it back and getting me the right one, he installed it anyway and decided not to tighten all the spokes so that it would be centered enough for the the breaks to work. I am beyond livid. I hope other people see this and know not to go there. read more

Complete incompetence and dishonesty. I ordered a Trek bicycle 6-7 weeks ahead for a vacation I was going on. I should have backed out right from the beginning after a bizarre 3 charges were put through on my card for the bike before credit card locked Steiner out. I followed up with Steiner about 3 weeks before to make sure everything was on schedule for delivery. Yes. 1 week before, yes. day before: Yes, bike is on route and we will build and call you. I don't hear back, so I call 2 days later. And I speak to the owner who tells me: the bike was sent to our other store (I was initially told it was being shipped to Hudson store, where I purchased, so not sure how it ended up at another store ) and one of our employees built the bike and sold it. Now this is during covid where not a single store has a bike to sell (as I was told by the owner), but somehow one of the employees built a bike and decided it was there ready to be sold, when they haven't had a bike for sale in months. When I asked the owner if she was planning on doing good on my purchase, she said: I wish we could but we literally do not have a bike to sell. Then how on earth did one of your employees think there was an unaccounted for bike to sell? She quickly agreed to reimburse my money. That was the best they could do. I was left to go on vacation 2 days later without my bicycle that I had so looked forward to having. I can only speculate what happened to my bicycle, but the excuse was so all over the place I can only imagine it was sold for alot more money to someone else, or an employee decided they or a friend could use a bike just about now. Super disappointed. read more
