I am concerned about the maintenance cost and what I might have to do myself to minimize that cost. So I called around and was referred to a number of different companies. Spoke to two and was underwhelmed by the responses and overwhelmed by the estimated costs. And then upon a recommendation I called Swim King. Dennis Galderisi answered the phone and from his the very first words my anxiety came down. Dennis was absolutely great. He clearly knows everything to know about pools and he answered my many questions with tremendous patience. He addressed my cost concerns by suggesting a tailored maintenance approach to how we will use the pool and suggested a number of ways we could do some of the basics and save money. His approach and manner felt sincere and honest. My next step is to get to his store and meet him in person. I am comfortable that I have found a pool professional who I can trust.

I asked if I could get on the waiting list for next year and they still said no. I understand if their client roster is full but the way they communicated was really smug. We ended up buying overpriced supplies from them anyway and our pool water still went green. Just YouTube it and buy supplies off Amazon.

We moved up to Carmel this past spring - the previous owner of our house had tried for weeks to set up a cleaning, but couldn't get anyone to respond, so they purchased a gift certificate from Schech's for the cost of opening the pool and gave it to us when we closed on the house. My husband called several times and tried to get someone from Schech's service to commit to an appointment. After receiving no reply, he made a trip to the store in person. The salespeople said they would communicate with service, but we never received a reply. I finally sent an email to the website to see if anyone would reply, and received a response from Barbara Schech-Freer. I replied that we had a gift certificate and were extremely flexible on which date the opening would take place, only asking that they put us on the schedule as soon as possible. A week went by with no response, so I emailed a final time to ask for the cash value of the gift certificate, since we were forced to go elsewhere to have the pool opened. No reply to my second email was ever received. I understand that it's a very busy time of year for the business, but it shouldn't be this challenging to receive a simple reply. If they had told us they weren't able to take us on as a client, I would have understood and not written this review. To completely ignore us this way speaks volumes about the importance they place on customer service, and so I suppose it's just as well we signed a contract with Strongman Pool Service instead. Strongman's team is prompt, thorough, reliable, and reasonable. They send us an email with a photo of our pool after every service call, along with detailed notes about what was done and results for each water test. If you own a pool in Carmel, you have options other than Schech's. Based on my experience, I highly recommend you explore those other options.

Kory Pools has a message that says you will get a faster response when you send a text. I sent a text asking about their price to close the pool, when they could do it and what will they do. I sent a second text asking when could they come and close the pool. Kory replied on Tuesday October 6th. I waited all day and Kory Pools never showed up nor they call or text me that they weren't coming to close the pool. This is absolutely the worst pool service I've ever dealt with. Horrible experience over the entire process of…read moreinstalling a new custom vinyl pool with a fiberglass hot tub within the footprint of the pool. We dealt with Shane, who is absolutely useless. Knows nothing about the equipment he sells, could not remember anything we had gone over with him or the actual liner and products we wanted. We were doing stone coping and pavers around the pool. Told us we must use 12" coping. Luckily I waited to order the stone as when they installed the the pool walls and the hot tub (which was delayed by several month because they told us the wrong one was sent to them - an absolute lie as we had to chase them down up to the day before they were supposed to install it until they finally lied to us and tried to talk us into doing a concrete hot tub instead - which by the way they originally said they could not do). When they finally installed the hot tub 4+ months later, 12" coping would not cover the gap between the hot tub and the pool wall because they had measured incorrectly. (needed at least 14" coping). Then the hot tub was leaking from day one. Couldn't get the basics right - if it doesn't hold water, nothing else matters. They sent over someone who didn't know what he was doing and was just smearing caulk all over the one light fixture in the hot tub to try and fix it. After the 4th! visit to find fix the leak, we had to get a sonic leak detection specialist to find and repair the leak. Then one of the relays went out at the Pentair panel. We were now dealing with the owner of the company (Vinnie) due to Shane's complete incompetence (I can not stress enough how clueless he is..). Vinnie tried to claim it happened because the low voltage line was run in the same conduit as the high voltage line (this is not the cause) and it was our electricians fault and needed to go back to them. He didn't realize that HIS electrician had run it.. another idiot trying to offload his mistakes onto us. They sent a nice guy over to fix it and he replaced the relay, but said he couldn't test as he didn't know how, but it should be good as it was a new part - the first one was a new part also, you need to test it. I did it myself. They also ran the lines for surface mounted air control valves (for bubbles in the hot tub) right in the walk path and where you step into the hot tub. I spoke to Shane (Vinnie wasn't available) to tell them they needed to be moved (10 mintue job - pvc flex pipe) and Shane said I don't think you can do that.. The guy who knows nothing about pools, now has an opinion on pool plumbing. I told him it absolutely can be done, and WILL be done, I was asking them to do it as they had put them in the wrong place. He got back to me after talking to his techs and gave me a quote of $150 per hour to move. Thanks for nothing idiot. I did it myself in ten minutes, no issues. Shane also ordered the cover for the pool and hot tub incorrectly. He literally co do nothing right. We spent over 1 and 1/2 years dealing with their incompetence. The actual pool builders they outsourced to (believe they were called King Pools) were good. NEVER EVER think about using them, you will regret it like we did.

Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful. I've always referred to them as "big lots, on steroids." The place is huge! They primarily sell manufacturers extras and overstock, and maybe the previous models of things. But, everything is good. Groceries, snacks, clothes, toys, home, and garden, housewares, kitchenware, tools, carpeting even furniture. If you see what you like, buy a little bit extra, because there's a good chance it won't be there the next time you come in. The stock always rotates. That's what makes it fun. It's like a giant treasure hunt. Also, if you sign up for a free "Ollie's army" membership, they will send you information on discounts that you can get off of their already great prices. I am a fan.
