He has heart failure, has been intubated before, and arrived with a severe case of pneumonia. He was shaking, gasping for air, and clearly very sick. His insurance usually doesn't approve extended stays at this hospital, but the doctor specifically requested that he remain because it was too dangerous to transfer him. So help me understand this... If he was too unstable to be transferred, why wasn't a room secured for him? Twelve hours later, he was still on a gurney in the ER. No pillow. Freezing cold. No food had even been ordered for him. He's a high-risk patient, yet he was left exposed in a crowded emergency department where he's at even greater risk of picking up another infection. Twenty-eight hours later, he finally got food... but he was still on that same ER gurney. This doesn't feel like patient-centered care. It feels like a business. If you acknowledge that someone is too sick to move, they deserve more than being left in an emergency room hallway for over a day. No family should have to watch their loved one go through this. If you have a choice, think twice before bringing someone you love here. This has been, without question, the worst hospital experience our family has ever had.

I've only been seeing Dr. Coyne as my primary care provider for about 4-5 months, and I can already…read moresay he's changed my life. For over 20 years, I suffered from painful, embarrassing bumps, redness, and pus on my scalp. It was irritating, sometimes even unbearable. My old doctor and even a dermatologist tried different antibiotics and creams -- nothing worked. Eventually, I just gave up and learned to live with it. On top of that, I had a rash for 3-4 months that my old doctor brushed off as "normal." That's when I decided to switch to Dr. Coyne -- and I'm so glad I did. During my very first visit, Dr. Coyne took a close look and told me I had a non-sexual yeast infection on my skin. He gave me a cream -- and boom -- it cleared up. I was amazed. That gave me the confidence to ask about my scalp again, even though I had lost hope. Dr. Coyne didn't dismiss it. He took just 30 seconds to examine me and said, "This looks like folliculitis." He explained it clearly, gave me a treatment plan, and said, "Let's try this cream -- if it doesn't work in a month, we'll do something else." To my shock -- it cleared up in FOUR DAYS. I kept waiting for it to come back... but it's been over a month, and my scalp is finally clear for the first time in 20 years. Dr. Coyne is compassionate, sharp, and genuinely cares about his patients. If you're struggling with skin issues, scalp problems, or anything that other doctors have dismissed -- go see Dr. Coyne. He's not just another doctor -- he's the kind that actually listens and knows what he's doing. I'm incredibly thankful I found him. Just wished I found him sooner.

To be fair, this may be because I am comparing it to a very high bar. My mom's last 2 PCP offices were so warm and eager to get to work out any wrinkles over the years. It felt like they saw my mom as part of a family. This felt more gatekeeperish, which is, of course, part of the job. I Was considering an office that was more connected to gerontology before my mom was assigned to this practice. It this point in her life, I want her remaining years to have sunny vibes for future health visits. Sometimes that family feel in the front office is just as important as outstanding physician care down the hall.

I just got back from this office and I'm so upset I have to write this review now to express my…read moredisappointment to the indifference of the receptionist. I had pain and swelling inside my mouth, it was at the borderline of the gum and inside cheek, It did not look to me it was an abscess but more on the cheek as the swelling was visible on the outside as if I had mumps but that could not be as I was fully vaccinated. Dr Schachter was not available so I saw his associate who told me I had an abscess, I still did not think so but accepted the Augmentin 875 mg twice a day. I took it for 7 days it helped a little bit but did not stop hurting so I went to the urgent care and the DO told me also it was an abscess. After a week it came back w a vengeance, I could not sleep, I went in today to ask for the antibiotic to be renewed as I could not get an appointment w an ENT larynx Md till 5-27 by that time I might get into a sepsis, infection inside the mouth is not a small matter. Here is my background: After my brother graduated from U of Paris medical school he gave me all his books n I read them all. I'm not a doctor but had 7 years of courses also required to become a doctor, anatomy, physiology, phamacology, Pharmacognosy, public health you name it plus I still spend hours each day watching medical, health videos and read mayo clinic articles. I literally cured my husband illness. For years he had so much pain, he thought he was going to die, he saw about 5 doctors, surgeons some wanted to do back surgeries, I BLOCKED IT the last thing you want to do is back surgery, one day I read about sciatica, the sciatic nerve can easily get bent crushed and cause symptoms similar to what he had, I studied his case, what he did all day and FIGURED OUT 100% CORRECTLY he drove 2 hrs in traffic to LA, 4 hours a day sitting on his huge wallet bulging out of his right side jeans pocket. I told him to remove his wallet, in 3 days the pain was gone!! YEP I CURED HIM, for 8 years all 5 doctors could not figure out and almost put my husband life in danger recommending back surgery. The wallet pressed hard on the sciatica nerve causing inflammation and pain. Remove the wallet VOILA, PROBLEM SOLVED. Last night during my insomniac episode, It flashed in my head since it was not mumps, not abscess, gotta be the salivary glands, I got up at4 and read for 3 hrs all articles from mayo clinic, Cleveland clinic, etc.. looked at all the pictures of the salivary glands, it is indeed the salivary glands all dried out from blockage by either calcium deposits or extreme dryness of mouth side effects from the statins then bacterias proliferate. That's my humble opinion, do not take it as advice on anything, check w your doctor. The receptionist or whichever title she has at the desk, refused to understand my situation that this infection is not a joke, it's in the blood stream and can cause sepsis and death for nothing. I told her it won't take more than 5 to10 minutes, no blood test needed, no Xray, I already had my problem figured out, prove me wrong, please grant me that favor anybody to renew my Rx I was already on, I did not ask for the moon, she said to come back tomorrow but I'm in Hoag hospital for my husband radiation and chemo till about 3pm. There must be some leeway for cases like mine, she showed no compassion. Dr Schacter is my hero, 6 stars for him, 2 stars refer to the office help, indifference to patients suffering.
