Since I'm not too good with arranging flowers in a vase, I either buy too few and have to go back to buy more and then they're gone, or, I buy too many and waste money. I brought my vase from home because I saw these big beautiful velvet poinsettia flowers trimmed in white. I showed the vase to the young lady in the store . She took the flowers which were in the window display in a Christmas tree, paired them with faux lamb's ear, tried other greenery, but the lamb's ears were perfect, cut them the right size and arranged them in the vase for me. She had other customers, was very pleasant, she helped them while I walked around and then completed my arrangement. The store has a great vibe and with service like that, this will be the first store I will visit for these types of things.

Tess, if that indeed was Tess, (I did not inquire), spent time showing me some of the chalk painting techniques that she uses. Offered advice freely and in a very friendly manner. Even was wanting to hire Charlie, the owner, to help decorate it. Within two trips there, I had spent over $2,000 and was eager and ready to spend a lot more. After the 2nd trip in, I noticed one of the pillows I bought, a tassel tore off it. I never used it and the tags were still attached. I did also want to purchase a couple bathroom items but noticed they were each missing a pad on the bottom. So when I went in 5 days later to get a store credit or even exchange (bc they have a crappy return policy and only offer this!) I was told by the sales person she would have to discuss this with her manager bc she wasn't allowed to take back damaged items. I reiterated to her that I never even used it and the tags were still on it. After her (back room) phone call, she says her manager told her "we can't take it back." I informed her they literally have damaged items on their shelves and so, if a customer were to purchase them and realize it once they got home, they then wouldn't take them back? What a shame that over a dumb $200 pillow and the thousands I had spent in there (and more where that came from), they decided to bite their nose's off to spite their face. Back to online shopping with much lower prices, much better customer service and great return policies for me. Very sad.

(This is, after all, the Jersey shore!) I saw shiny aluminum dishes (or maybe they were ashtrays) shaped like life-sized flip-flop sandals, and carved wooden "bathing beauties" painted with vintage bathing suits. There were cast iron hooks shaped like lighthouses and shells. There was a lot of "faux food"--I guess you're supposed to put a fake cake or pie on your un-used dining room table, though I'd always rather consider a REAL cake or pie. There was quite a range of fabric samples to be chosen for upholstery on the furniture offerings. If you're staying and walking across for the beach/boards, you're paying $10. My gripe with this place is that ever since I can remember, the woman at the register hasn't been very friendly at all. No hello when I say hello to her. My 4-year old needed the restroom, and she said she had no restroom (c'mon, really? This shop is in a large house..of course they have a restroom). Hubby had to take my son across the street to Subway to use their bathroom while I shopped (and purchased something!). Also, the Yelp check-in deal said (1) free seashell. After showing it to her, she said she didn't have any shells. Mind you, there are 99 cent seashells ALL OVER this place! And it was for my little boy, not me!!! Someone asked her a genuine question this Saturday as to why the shop closes at 4pm. Her response was they would not make any more money. The customer then asked "even in the tourist season?" And the woman behind the counter said "yes honey!, even in the tourist season". The customer being offended by her tone said "well I guess you know better than me" and this woman's second rude response was "I sure do". This was just one event. There have been others that I've seen but I don't remember the details. So although I would highly recommend shopping here for the selection of items, I would though try not to interact with this woman much unless you absolutely have to. I have learned that she is not the owner and hope the owner reads this and will watch her more closely as she needs better people skills.

Have purchased some great items for my shore home but had to post about a clock I saw at the store last year during the holidays. Snapped a pic and then, in August, went back in to see if they still had it. It was not in the store but they found the exact clock and ordered it. Couldn't get it to work when we put it up in our kitchen and the sales associates went out of their way to try different batteries, finally replacing my clock happily with a new one. Not only is this clock perfect for my new kitchen, I was so happy to receive such great customer service from this lovely local merchant. Thank you, Garret!!!
