I was so impressed with our guides, Nick and Alex, and their local knowledge of seabirds, marine mammals, and intertidal species. Whales are cool, but there are also a lot of other really cool animals & birds in Trinidad Bay. And these guides know just where to take you. They were not afraid to take us into a little rougher waters, when we asked them to, likely because they are so skilled and experienced. I also really appreciated all of the paddling guidance they provided making sure I was using my core/legs more than my arms. I was with a very large group and the guides handled everything with such class and professionalism. It is a step above any outfitter I've ever paddled with. We are really lucky to have them in Trinidad to help us access some of the most fantastic coastline along the California coast. They also do a great job interpreting the California Coastal National Monument! All of those rocks and islands are part of a statewide national monument that runs from the Oregon border south to Mexico! Wow! What a treasure. After talking with about a half dozen charters, we settled on Brad with Crescent City Fishing Charters. We liked how friendly and informative he was, so pleasant over the phone. He proved to be just as pleasant in person the morning of our trip. Brad went over some safety things for us and the kiddos, and got right to making sure we were comfortable. Throughout our trip, Captain Brad helped us get to where we needed to be to have the most fun and catch the most fish. He helped us with our poles, fixing our lines, and helping when needed to get our fish in. He didn't even get upset when we lost lines. :-) The boat was super nice, comfortable, and we could all be either inside or outside depending on preference. We had all the help we needed throughout the whole trip, down to cleaning and packaging our fish when we were done. We all caught our limits on everything by the way. (He had a little help with all his fancy equipment.) Captain Brad made our trip one of the most memorable ever, and we can't wait to go back out with him.

My husband and I went deep sea fishing on the Tally Ho II Today. I was told we would be fishing for…read moreup to 6 hours or when we catch our limit. We were to leave to fish at 6:30am. Everyone was on the boat, and waiting for Captain Craig until 7:00 when he finally arrived. All 6 fisherman paid $120.00 for the trip. We went out fishing until 10:00 and the Captain said reel-in and we headed back to the dock. Not one person got their limit. I got 4 blacks my husband got two blacks 2 canaries and 2 blue's another man got 2 cod 2blacks and 1 blue. The limit is 10 person. When we got back to the dock the captain kept 8 blacks for himself. We were charged for a full day and only fished for 2 hours and travel time was 30 minutes each way. I feel totally ripped off. Don't go with Tally Ho II. He screwed all of us over. SUCH A RIPOFF!!!

My husband went fishing yesterday on the "'Bout Time" with Captain Rich Signorello and his awesome…read moredeckhand (and son), Matt (first trip was in 2021). The Bout Time holds up to 6, but we were comfortable with 5 guys who travelled to Brookings from Southern Calif to northern Oregon. This time, Steve took the Lighthouse Trip $255 - an all day excursion to the light house, 12 miles off shore near Crescent City, CA. It was a beautiful sunny day with almost no wind out in the ocean. I dropped Steve off at the harbor at 6:15am, expecting to have the ENTIRE day to myself until, at 12:20pm, Steve texted me and said to get ready to come pick him up because everyone hit their limit and they were already heading back! I had just started a reply to ask if he got the "elusive" halibut (just joking), and before I could hit send, he texted me to let me know - YES - he caught a halibut! It weighed 35lbs and Steve said he arms were so tired from landing it, that he could barely hold it up for the picks (I will try to attach to this review later)! I joined them at the boat once it docked and with Matt's assistance, we watched Captain Rich expertly clean and filet all of the fish for us (one guy caught a 5' Wolf Eel, which he shared portions of with the rest of the crew. We haven't tried eating this yet, but are looking forward to it). Turns out that halibut has 4 filets, not just the normal 2, so we gave Captain Rich and Matt of of them to take home. We dropped the rest of the fish (over 21 pounds of Halibut, Ling Cod and Rockfish) at the local fish store in the harbor and they quickly vacuum sealed it for us for the trip home. While waiting for the fish, I noticed that the current retail price of halibut was $32.95 per pound, so I think we got our money's worth on this trip!!! We're here for 2 weeks so Steve has already booked a second reservation with Rich for another fishing trip before we leave. You won't be disappointed going fishing with Captain Rich and Matt - they know so much about all of the fish in the area (really interesting info) and you can just tell, every time they start to talk about the boat and this harbor, they LOVE to fish!!!!

Very fast, cabin to get out of the wind and plenty of deck space. Captain: Captain Clarence, really personable, helpful, great attitude, and knowledgeable. We had 3 first timers, two of them were 11 year old boys. The boys had a great time and looking forward to going again. The all around experience: We were the first boat out there. We were fishing within 15 minutes from leaving the dock. We limited on fish pretty quick with some real quality fish. He bled out every fish so when it was time to get the filets the fish was so clean. And to top it off he had plenty of shaved ice to keep the fish as fresh as possible.
