The Bout Time holds up to 6, but we were comfortable with 5 guys who travelled to Brookings from Southern Calif to northern Oregon. This time, Steve took the Lighthouse Trip $255 - an all day excursion to the light house, 12 miles off shore near Crescent City, CA. It was a beautiful sunny day with almost no wind out in the ocean. I dropped Steve off at the harbor at 6:15am, expecting to have the ENTIRE day to myself until, at 12:20pm, Steve texted me and said to get ready to come pick him up because everyone hit their limit and they were already heading back! I had just started a reply to ask if he got the "elusive" halibut (just joking), and before I could hit send, he texted me to let me know - YES - he caught a halibut! It weighed 35lbs and Steve said he arms were so tired from landing it, that he could barely hold it up for the picks (I will try to attach to this review later)! I joined them at the boat once it docked and with Matt's assistance, we watched Captain Rich expertly clean and filet all of the fish for us (one guy caught a 5' Wolf Eel, which he shared portions of with the rest of the crew. We haven't tried eating this yet, but are looking forward to it). Turns out that halibut has 4 filets, not just the normal 2, so we gave Captain Rich and Matt of of them to take home. We dropped the rest of the fish (over 21 pounds of Halibut, Ling Cod and Rockfish) at the local fish store in the harbor and they quickly vacuum sealed it for us for the trip home. While waiting for the fish, I noticed that the current retail price of halibut was $32.95 per pound, so I think we got our money's worth on this trip!!! We're here for 2 weeks so Steve has already booked a second reservation with Rich for another fishing trip before we leave. You won't be disappointed going fishing with Captain Rich and Matt - they know so much about all of the fish in the area (really interesting info) and you can just tell, every time they start to talk about the boat and this harbor, they LOVE to fish!!!!

We did expect to do some deep sea fishing however we had to stay close to shore due to weather however we were grateful to go out as this was the third booking that we made with this company. The first two trips were canceled due to weather.

My husband and I wanted to take our two boys (ages 3 and 4) kayaking on the Chetco this past weekend. It's early May and kayaking season for him doesn't really start until end of May. However, he made an acceptation and helped us out renting kayaks, gear and providing the shuttle service. Josh was warm, funny and extremely helpful. Because we have small guys we had to drive our car with the car seats to the drop off spot and he drove our car back to our campsite (Loeb park) while his wife took the shuttle car back. Josh even threw in some awesome squirt gun toys for our boys! It was so nice and turned out to be a highlight of the trip for our kids. Kept them well entertained.

Very fast, cabin to get out of the wind and plenty of deck space. Captain: Captain Clarence, really personable, helpful, great attitude, and knowledgeable. We had 3 first timers, two of them were 11 year old boys. The boys had a great time and looking forward to going again. The all around experience: We were the first boat out there. We were fishing within 15 minutes from leaving the dock. We limited on fish pretty quick with some real quality fish. He bled out every fish so when it was time to get the filets the fish was so clean. And to top it off he had plenty of shaved ice to keep the fish as fresh as possible. When I come back to Brookings I definitely will go back on this boat. Thank you captain Clarence we had a great time. Thinking about going on a tuna run with this boat.

Sandra and Clay, Californians who have settled on the gorgeous Oregon coast, run a superb country B&B on the banks of the Chetco River, down a bumpy, forested road just outside of Brookings. My husband and I found it this beautiful advertisement online for this company. We had made…read morereservations a few months prior for our wedding,however we live in another state so we hadn't had a chance to see the venue other than the pictures on the website. We arrived at the venue the day before the wedding. We also had arrangements for two nights in the honeymoon suite. When we showed up, we were shown the main house that we were going to get married in. It apparently is being lived in by Patrick and his wife. Not a professional setting. But the view out back was amazing. Patrick then showed us to our " honeymoon suite". Except for it's classified more as a junior suite. No tv , room too small, and mystery door in the room as well, not to be used. That was creepy, Also in the bedroom, the queen size bed took up the whole room. There was only a little pathway to get to the bathroom, and to get to the other side of the bed. When we left that day, we decided that we had to cancel their so-called honeymoon suite because it was just too small for us. when I let Patrick know that evening that we wouldn't be staying the two nights because the suite was too small. He stated that he might have shown me the wrong room. And by that time my husband and I had already made reservations for a true honeymoon suite. The day finally arrives, we get to the venue three hours early we start to get ready. Everything seems to be OK. Now, at this point, I realize I haven't mentioned that our wedding is just my husband and myself and my maid of honor. So we did get a great price for all that. We really looked forward to having a intimate peaceful wedding. While I was getting ready with my maid of honor people that weren't invited to our wedding were coming up and talking to my fiancé at the time and he's nervous and he doesn't want to talk but these people are friends of Patrick's. It made my husband very uncomfortable. In the meantime, our photographer shows up and things seem to be smoothing out. My photographer was wonderful and we really enjoyed her. However, as I walked down the stairs to walk through the house and out, Patrick stops my photographer and tells her that she must move her vehicle. This was highly unprofessional, and did not need to be dealt with at that moment. Literally minutes before I was to walk down the aisle. So the car gets moved the photographer gets in position. I make my way past the kitchen and out the door. But as I'm walking, something doesn't look right to me, it was the position of Patrick and my fiancé. Patrick was standing in the wrong place. He stood to Todd's left. You can see when you look at the pictures what I'm talking about. Then we get to the part where Patrick officiates this wedding. I thought this was something he had done before. It clearly was not. he did not read from the book. He did not have it memorized. He had everything out of order. He had asked if anyone had any reason why we should not get married halfway into the ceremony. I had to tell him twice that we hadn't exchanged the rings. I wish I could share the video, but that's a little more personal that I'd like to do at this point. I think I can get my point across with my words in my pictures. They also said they would provide a cake which I found out two days prior because I asked, that, they decided they weren't going to do a cake for us. Thank heavens for Fred Meyers! They saved the day. Patrick also had another couple in the duplex " honeymoon suite" behind the main house. They seem to be more of a priority to Patrick than we were.
