They were friendly and the cinnamon buns are delicious. Small quaint shop. Went 2 days in a row when visiting town.

This Bakery!!! Why don't I have a bakery like this closer…read moreto my hometown!?! Waaaaaaahhhhh!!! It's nothing from the outside. It's rundown. One tiny chalkboard sign in the window with the hours. You'd miss it if you weren't looking for it. But- LOOK FOR IT!! You will not be disappointed!! Paul the owner is the sole baker. His sister Barbara lovingly packages what you chose from the display case and cashes you out. They summer here at Silver Lake during the summers- all the way from Massachusetts! And they are just simply the best people ever! Oh the baked goods! Dill and cheddar scones 10 stars! So much dill, perfectly soft on the inside and yet a perfect brown crust. The raspberry and rosemary scones are equally as amazing, with real fresh raspberry jam in 4 little pools on top. We had nearly all the cookies in the cookie jars with the sugar cookie and confetti being our favorite. The cardamom radiating bun is unique and dense, the raisins are soaked in a orange liqueur and the top gently dusted is powdered sugar. Then there's the raspberry bar!! I only got 1 on my last day here, as we were headed home, and I'm living with regret still. Get like 6 of the raspberry bars! Don't be like me. In fact get like 6 of everything when you're here. You'd be a fool to buy any less. The prices are worth every penny, but you don't have to dish out a lot of them. Cookie will run you $1.25 for the giant ones and the massive scones that you can make a meal out of are only $1.75, my 1 raspberry bar (stupid me!) was only $2 and I swear is weighted 6oz! The face size cinnamon roll is only $2. Come here! Say Hi to Paul and Barbara, get 3 bags of goodies, a loaf of bread du jour, and a hot cup of coffee. Enjoy your items at this quaint little bakery, lots is seating, or take your items in the road. Oh- I almost forgot- THE CINNAMON ROLLS! Go look at my pictures!

It is hard to find baked goods this good in West Michigan! The two I tried were amazing, affordable…read moretoo!

The food and service were great. I did not try any baked goods but will be stopping in soon to enjoy a cinnamon roll and I suspect they will taste as well as they looked. While the service was great, I do love paying on the way out. It's just easier for everyone and avoids the back and forth trip for the servers. The Homestead Restaurant and Bakery has the best breakfast in the area. I'll be returning to try the lunch menu soon.

New to the area and this place was seriously infuriating. Sat down no one came to take our order…read more Finally got coffee and water. Group of 17 come in, they took that order before us. I got the waitresses attention and told her we will just pay for our coffee and go. She asks us to stay and says she will take our order and put it in before theirs and get us more coffee. Didn't come back. No coffee and water is now gone also. We decided to leave and they still made us pay for our coffee. Not saying we shouldn't have but after asking us to stay and still getting crap service the least they could have done was say don't worry about the coffee and have a good day. But instead we were treated with attitude when we left. Also I watched a waitress give the table next to us food that was theirs, when the couple brought it to the waitresses attention she simply picked it up and gave it to someone else. Literally watched the guy touch the food. Won't come back.
