On our way home from Pentwater homecoming we wanted to try somewhere new and sit down and enjoy the morning so here's where we decided on. The service was very kind and helpful, the atmosphere was homey, but sadly the food for both em and my wife was just a bit lacking. My wife loves biscuits and gravy but felt like hers were a bit over seasoned and far too much of an orange color and my parfait while delicious had a near inch thick honey well at the bottom which made finishing the insanely sweet dish nearly impossible. Breakfast at 11:30? No problem! Sadly, the baker was off so no pastries for us. Pretty darn busy on Saturday, so our party of six waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Here for Electric Forest and we stopped by for a coffee and something sweet while we waited for our clothes to wash at the laundromat across the plaza. Honestly we didn't expect a lot since it seemed like pretty standard diner food. I can't comment on the actual breakfast food, but the grilled cinnamon roll was INCREDIBLE. Such a simple concept.. take a big ass cinnamon roll, slice it in half, grill it with a ton of butter, and serve it with some strawberries... but damn was it delicious. The cinnamon roll was toasted to perfection with plenty of crunch to balance out the soft chew of the rest of the roll. The strawberries added a wonderful freshness. We ordered extra strawberries to balance out the richness of the roll. The only thing that could have made this better was a side of fresh whipped cream. LOVE THIS PLACE. Our server is always happy with a great sense of humor. Food comes out quickly, in generous portions, hot & delicious. Not only are are the breads & pastries housemade, but their soup was AMAZING and housemade, as well. Beautiful large pieces of chicken in the southwest soup and the chili was great, too. They happily replaced the white bread on the deluxe club with rye and it was fantastic. Nicely decorated and cozy interior. This has become my favorite restaurant in Whitehall! read more

New to the area and this place was seriously infuriating. Sat down no one came to take our order. Finally got coffee and water. Group of 17 come in, they took that order before us. I got the waitresses attention and told her we will just pay for our coffee and go. She asks us to stay and says she will take our order and put it in before theirs and get us more coffee. Didn't come back. No coffee and water is now gone also. We decided to leave and they still made us pay for our coffee. Not saying we shouldn't have but after asking us to stay and still getting crap service the least they could have done was say don't worry about the coffee and have a good day. But instead we were treated with attitude when we left. Also I watched a waitress give the table next to us food that was theirs, when the couple brought it to the waitresses attention she simply picked it up and gave it to someone else. The Homestead is a legit. I went there with a small group and everyone cleaned their plates. I had the corned beef which will be my go-to breakfast from now on. The food and service were great. I did not try any baked goods but will be stopping in soon to enjoy a cinnamon roll and I suspect they will taste as well as they looked. While the service was great, I do love paying on the way out. It's just easier for everyone and avoids the back and forth trip for the servers. The Homestead Restaurant and Bakery has the best breakfast in the area. I'll be returning to try the lunch menu soon. read more

I was really excited when the Homestead was going to open but I do not feel like it is what it could be. The staff seem friendly and the decor is welcoming. The location is convenient being right in Whitehall on the main road. My breakfast was pretty mediocre, I wouldn't say it was anything over the top. I was very disappointed that the shredded hash browns were so, so thin. They tasted like pure grease and you couldn't taste any potato. They were like see through! There is no place to get shredded hash browns in Whitehall so I was really looking forward to it only to be a little disappointed. The waffle was flavorless and overpriced for what it's worth for sure. I feel like the bagel/bread/pastry cases seem like they are self serve the way they are positioned/located. I watched someone come in just for a pastry and they went to grab it themselves only to be told that an employee had to do it. I think there should be better signage to state employees only or something similar to that, or at least have them repositioned etc. Overall it seems like a pretty basic spot. There isn't anything speciality on their menu that is calling me back. read more

I was in Whitehall for a wedding and came here for brunch. It has a cute and homey vibe, and our waitress was great. My boyfriend had the breakfast burrito and I had the everything but the kitchen sink special. That was all of their fixings for the stuffed hash browns, but over biscuits with sausage gravy. This place is great! We've been staying in Whitehall this summer and have been coming here regularly. The staff is super friendly and the prices are reasonable (If you come in early enough you get a discount on everything). The bread is definitely made fresh and is the best part. They don't have a huge amount of options as the menu is *very* small, but it seems like they stick to what they do best. I typically just get traditional breakfast (Eggs / Potato / Toast) but the fancier items look pretty good too. Food comes out quickly, place is super clean. Happened upon this quaint place on our way through town with our 4 grandchildren. Joseph was amazing. We had spills and craziness and he was so accommodating. I adore homemade cinnamon rolls so I had no choice but to try the grilled cinnamon roll. Absolutely the best cinnamon roll I've ever had! Then there was the "stuffed hash browns" Are you kidding me?!?! Seriously so good! The homemade bread was also so good that I had to take a loaf home and of course two more cinnamon rolls!
