The "powder room" is spacious, well-stocked (like anything you could need was there!), and could be used by folks of all genders. I think it's supposed to be for women, but it doesn't have any gendered signage. There's a "gentlemen" bathroom around the corner though. The venue is gorgeous and cozy. There are so many spaces to it! You could definitely have a flow that works for whatever you're looking to do. The columns in the ballroom are a little off-putting, though, in that it can be hard for guests to see the dance floor and kind of puts you in your place as far as your relation to the couple. This was a winter wedding, but we were surprised that the wedding could have been anywhere in terms of awareness that we were on a lake. I would have thought some more lighting or an outdoor area (though I did see from pictures on here that there is a fire pit in area?). Staff were attentive, but definitely a little pushy at the end. I work catering and you don't pick up chairs or clear linens until everyone has (or most people have) left, but they were already starting to break down at 9:30 on the dot and it made us a little uncomfortable as we were trying to finish up conversations. Plenty of parking and it sounded like the bride and groom suites were well-appointed. At only 25 minutes from downtown Albany, your guests have plenty of options for where to stay!

It's…read morefun to stop in at times to browse their exhibits which includes a faculty student gallery, the Wallace and Foyer galleries, as well as a main gallery. The best part is they are free and open to the public. They offer a range of classes for different age groups such as creative writing, performing arts, culinary arts, digital arts, studio art, crafts, dance, and more. I found out that the last Friday of every month being Troy Night Out, makes a great night out exploring arts and culture. The exhibits are open during the day and seem to draw me in after brunch in Troy. I find them pretty unique and definitely one of a kind. I'm hoping to take some classes in the near future such as sculpting with clay or a few of the culinary classes. Overall a simple and neat arts center with plenty of activities for art and culture seekers.

It was a great time with good music and drinks. The entire class was about 2-2.5 hours depending on how long you took to add some finishing details and everything was provided from paint, canvas, cups, paintbrushes. You're allowed to bring any sort of drinks and snacks which was a lot of fun. They rotate which paintings they do and post it on the website as well and it's fun to just come and pint even if you're not going to follow the template! My guess is the fact that they staff the facility with mostly untrained senior citizen volunteers who like it toasty. The same volunteers have significant difficulty guiding people to their seats because they seem to be unfamiliar with rows and seat numbers. I don't know how many times some elderly usher stood in front of me, shining their flashlight in my face, confused about where people were supposed to sit. Oh well... Still an unbelievably beautiful place to see (and hear!) a show. Truly, not a bad seat in the house.

5 Star Venue 5 Star Service…read more-2 Stars for Lack of Comfort This was our first visit to the Music Hall. I was having difficulty buying seats online for our event so I ended up calling the ticket office. Whoever helped me was great. She was patient and helpful. Explaining that this was our first visit there, I wanted to ensure we had the best possible seats to enjoy the show as well as have a great overall experience. Based on our conversation I chose lower balcony, front row seats. I recall the agent asking if we had any issues with stairs which was good as there are quite a few stairs to get to the balcony. While we found the view to be great, the seats are horrible. They are extremely skinny and uncomfortable. I saw on the floor that they even use bistro chairs at the ends of some aisles. From the looks of things, the only comfortable seats would be the boxes along the walls as they looked to have chairs that you could move. The front-row balcony is not well suited for anyone over 6' tall as there is not enough leg room to sit with your legs in front of you. By the time the concert ended, my legs were cramping, my butt was sore, and my lower back in knots from trying to sit a bit sideways. Anyone who is slightly overweight will find the seating most uncomfortable. Aside from that, the theater is quite beautiful and the acoustics seemed to work well for our event. The staff is friendly and helpful. Exiting the theater went smoothly and quickly. We will definitely return but will try for box seats to see if they are more comfortable.

I was on the way home and I like to take roads I have not been on…read morebefore. while passing this flower/gift shop on the outskirts of any town I knew of a week before Valentine's Day I saw a number of car which peaked my interest. To impress me, a florist shop needs to exhibit creativity and display unique flowers & plants. All of which, Chatham Flowers going for them. we discussed what I was looking for, the price point, if a vase was to be included or not, and they went to work creating a beautiful bouquet with exactly the flowers I was hoping would be in the arrangement. The final arrangement was stunning, packed for travel and for presentation. I could not be happier with the final product. I did also buy a small bird to be nestled in the arrangement as well as a stunning heart for our fireplace mantle at home. In short, great find, talented people, unique inventory, customer focused, and a pleasure to do business with.

Mansion where Alexander Hamilton Married Elizabeth Schuyler [Albany NY]…read more The Schuyler Mansion was less than a mile away from the USS Slater so if you can do both tours it's very much worth it to visit these two historic sites. Admission fee for the Schuyler Mansion is only $5. After we paid for the fees in the Visitors Center we caught up with the group that had just begun its tour. The mansion was the home of General Philip Schuyler, in command of the Northern Department Army during the American Revolution. It was explained to us that during the Revolutionary War his home was used for military meetings, political meetings (he was also a U.S. Senator), elegant parties, and family life. General Schuyler's property extended to a huge chunk of land in Albany but is now only reduced to just the brick mansion that is now a museum. Philip and Catherine Schuyler raised their family (eight children) in this house including hosting the wedding of their daughter Elizabeth to Alexander Hamilton in 1780. We viewed the Yellow Parlor Room, Library, Best Parlor Room, and the Dining Room. Our tour guide was very informative. Most of the tour was held on the first floor, where the family held public and private gatherings. Interesting tour too if you're a fan of the musical, Hamilton. They are only open Fri-Sun each week. We were lucky to visit the mansion during its open season and on the day of the week that we were in Albany. The Schuyler House has just opened for 2023 last month on Fri, May 26th and will be operating through Sun, Oct 15, 2023. Review #3015
