I've been a customer of Stelmach Auto Repair for the last 15 years. In that time, Vince and his mechanics (Joe & Joe) have done everything from routine maintenance (oil, brakes, shocks, etc.) to major work including repair a broken engine mount where a number of other engine components were destroyed. He's done an in tank fuel pump, water pump and radiator replacement on one of my trucks and the list goes on. Crank trigger sensors on my Jeep, 02 sensors on all of almost all of my vehicles at prices that were way less than other garages charge. He replaced door handles and door lock actuators for far less than I was quoted down here in Norther Virginia. I got quoted $450 plus tax to replace a starter on my Suburban from the shop down the street in Northern Virginia. Being an old gear head myself, I called the auto parts store and got a brand new starter for $139 and installed it myself in an hour. Saved myself $300.... I watched that same garage charge a lady $45 plus tax to install new wiper blades on her Toyota Corolla in a rain storm. I've moved to Northern Virginia approximately four years ago and cannot find an honest mechanic that charges a reasonable price that is constantly trying to up sell me. What do I do? If it can wait, I bring it to Vince at Stelmach and he takes care of it for me. When you drive 240 miles to get service and repairs on your vehicle, it really says something about the place. It also tells you what you're up against with most of the garages in Northern Virginia, especially in the Vienna/Fairfax area. Although he's quite busy and it's difficult to get in the same day with him, I call about a week in advance and he turns around the vehicle in a day, maybe two at most if a supplier doesn't have the part in stock that day. Why can't they do that here in Northern Virginia? Take it from an gear head who used to build old muscle cars when he was young.... If you want your vehicle fixed right by someone that is honest and priced right, bring it to Stelmach. I wish I could find a mechanic/garage down here like Stelmach Auto Repair. In the mean time, I'll be making that 240 mile trip and schedule my auto service when I come back to visit my family in Northern NJ. read more

Brought my car to stelmach after buying it from a shit place in Paterson. To say the LEAST Vince did an amazing job in a timely manner. He replaced my pressure pump along with my battery and brakes for a very reasonable price. I always was afraid to take my car to mechanics because i thought most were dishonest and tried to squeeze every penny out of a small job, until i found this place. I will defiantly be taking all future cars here and recommending anyone who needs any type of service on their car. Thank you again Vince! read more

Broke down, Had my car towed to this local shop. I was convinced I needed a new engine. After a few minutes of diagnosing the car by the mechanic. I was given a price I couldn't believe. Quick fix! And i'm back on the road within hours!!! Very satisfied customer! read more

Would give a negative score if i could. My sister brought her car here with broken A/C. They diagnosed it said they would need to order parts and see how much etc. They called a couple days later car is ready with a 1,000 dollar bill. No estimate no pre signed paper, nothing. She needed the car so she paid it. I went back to ask about the inflated parts and labor prices and the owner wasn't there. Called a couple of times over a few days he's never in. I guess he doesn't care about his business which is why it's so terrible. Took advantage of someone who didn't know better and won't even answer a phone. No proof of parts or anything purchased. Full blown scam stay away. read more

the worst service ever, my truck was there for 5 weeks! this idiot owner vince told me it would be done in a week, 4 weeks later it was sitting in the same spot in the back of this dump, i called constantly and the response was parts were ordered, everything has been pulled apart etc, when i finally had enough i went there nothing was done, vince was never there, his 1 employee said its always like this and he gets caught in the middle plus he was going to get another job, 2 other customers were there and the same thing they were disgusted and trying to get they're 2 trucks out, i paid for a rental van from enterprise rent a car at $900 dollars a week because of this idiot lying to me, 5 weeks =$4500 in rental fees i paid because he is to dishonest, the 2 other customers did the same thing, 1 guys truck was there for 3 months, this is the 2nd time im posting this, somehow he had the other one removed, i will keep posting it everytime vince tries to remove it, read more
