Overall, my experience with Fix N Fuel has been positive. The team has been professional & knowledgeable about issues. My most recent interaction made me a little uncomfortable. For years, my family and I have been harassed by strange women and men in Essex County, NJ. My conclusion: People think I am anti-Italian, which is ridiculous. My parents were/are Italian-American. My mother was lovely and a wonderful parent. Her family was like a Big Hug. Because of sick/crazed women (and men), I have been bullied and harassed with intent for years. I have been called names; women have cited my body to me in a perjorative tone. I have had to file police reports about these strange/sick women harassing me. I have gone to restaurants and other establishment where strangers have gone out of their way to talk about their Italian heritage and/or relatives near me. Great! I love Italian food and Italian culture! Please don't feel compelled to mention Italian food/culture around me to offend me. I love it all. This is what happened as I waited for my husband to pick me up after I dropped off my car. An employee also spelled my name wrong and said something to the effect of, "Of course, that makes sense." And after he got my car model wrong (a co-worker corrected him with the right car model I brought in to get serviced.) It saddens me that I felt so uncomfortable. The team seems knowledgeable and experienced. My husband has volunteered to take my car to Fix N Fuel after my most recent experience with folks. read more

My check engine light was on, my friend recommended fix and fuel. They quickly diagnosed the problem which was something quite minor, and didn't charge me. I was pleasantly surprised by their integrity, thoroughness, and professionalism. I have recommended Fix N Fuel to several friends and they were all very happy with the mechanics. I almost want to keep this review under my hat so they won't be too busy to service my car the next time I need them. But I'm going to pay it forward since I found them based on a YELP review. Initially when I called I had to leave a message because no one picked up the phone. I'm going to attribute that to them probably being on their lunch break. But after they returned my call I had no doubt I had found a keeper! I had arranged with Dennis to drop off my car in the morning and they would call me after they checked it out. First of all, they said I needed a new exhaust, new front tires and new front brakes and calipers. They said whoever had done my exhaust last (Agolia & Sons, BP) had performed a patch up job! For the nearly same price Agolia charged me for a "new exhaust", I got 2 front tires, new brakes and a new exhaust! Before I went to Fix N Fuel, I was thinking of buying a new car because I didn't feel safe in it. But now I feel I have my "baby" back. She may be over 300k miles, but she's running like a dream! The guys at Fix N Fuel were honest, reliable and for the quality of their work, charge very reasonable prices. I can't speak for anything major in terms of repairs, but these guys accommodated me without an appointment. I had a nail stuck in my tire and was getting the low pressure light. I noticed the problem on a Sunday when nobody was open so I planned on calling these guys first thing Monday morning since they're right down the street. I called at 7:30 even though their listed hours didn't have them opening until 8. The guy who answered 30 minutes before opening told me to swing by just after 8, which I did. They put my car in right away. Figuring they would take their time getting to the actual fix, I asked the same guy I spoke to on the phone to call me when it was ready and he told me not to bother leaving because the tech only needed a few minutes. Fifteen minutes later, I was out the door on my way to work. Prompt. Professional. Courteous. The tech even offered to let me keep the rusty nail as a souvenir. No thanks. The only rusty nail I'm interested in is the one with scotch and Drambuie. read more

Yesterday my hyundai wouldn't start, had it towed in and they replaced the starter for me SUPER fast and half of what the dealer would have charged. The dealer didn't have an opening until next week so I looked on AAA website and found this place. The shop may not look modern however the service I received was fantastic and professional. Nick and his team are THE BEST! I developed a hole somewhere in my exhaust system yesterday and my regular mechanic was unable to fix until Tuesday when I have to be on the road for a long, long trip. My regular guy suggested Fix N fuel and even texted Nick to give him a heads up. I showed up this morning and Nick immediately took me into a free bay and his guy quickly found the problem: a bad cat converter by the engine. He also found a leaking steering pump return hose and a bad left front axle. They gave me a ride home and all the work (including two new axles), was done and road tested by 2:00! Fantastic! I broke down with a transmission hose leak 255 miles from home on the parkway, they were able to get me back on the road within 2 hours of receiving my car. After getting ripped of by the dealer for everything on mu truck i am so glad i found this place, the work is top notch, honest if you dont need it he wont do it, example i found it by mistake stopped in for air in my bike tire and asked if they did oil changes, so made a apointment and wala in 15 min i was done $35 compared to the dealer $70 to start, since then he did a tune up for me more than half the price, and timming belt also half of what the dealer charges i would highly recomend them ask for Nick hes the guy who i speak to all the time read more

These guys do one hell of a job. Came here initially with a blown transmission, and they were able to find a used one, rebuilt the thing, and install it within only a couple of days. It only gets better...It came with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty! I've had alot of aftermarket parts installed on my car, so it's bound to have moreover ssues than your average vehicle. I needed to come back in to check on some things and they got me in next morning, no problem. Nick put in my trans, and it helped to know he could put everything in layman's terms when it was needed. They lady at the front desk was also very helpful and communicative on several occasions when trying to figure out issues or schedule an appointment. read more

Never used this place until AAA asked if I wanted to use one of their certified places. These guys were great through the entire process of having to be towed through the repair work.The starter went on our old Ford Ranger that my carpenter son uses. These guys quickly diagnosed and repaired the truck the very next morning. They we upfront about the cost and were comparatively reasonable with the diagnostic and labor charges. I bring my cars here regularly when I have trouble. Everything from a broken latch, power doors, blown bulbs, to a full transmission rebuild; they do it. The owner and manager are great! Friendly and professional. They always try to fit you in and help if you have a problem. They also do other major repairs besides transmissions. The owner has a really competent group of mechanics working for him, each with their own specialty. Prices are always fair, they never try to gouge you. While away at college My daughter hit a curb and blew out two tires. AAA brought the car to fixnfuel. They did decent work except for our most recent and final experience with them. We explicitly asked them repeatedly to do only the minimum repairs because our car is old. When we picked up the car, they charged us $600 for a repair we didn't want. When we complained, rather than apologizing and giving us a reduced fee because it was their fault, they instead undid the repairs and made the car even worse. We will never go back again. read more
