The teachers reinforce important health, safety, and manners related behaviors. When discipline is necessary the teachers use redirection.  The best part is my daughter really loves the school and is very happy there. I would highly recommend Kehillah. Talk to families who have been there more recently. The currently director and assistant director are both fairly new and have done amazing work at the school.

If you have a hyper child who has outbursts of emotions and tests boundaries-- the director of this location will do whatever she can to label your child and call you after any incident to have child picked up for early dismissal. As parents we started believing that our child might have emotional delay and started getting help from the school district to early intervene. If you ask about their methods of dealing with unwanted behavior, you won't be able to talk to the teacher-- because only director can communicate with parents about any classroom issues. There is no consistency or any age appropriate methods to help guide your child. It's really scary that this place has such a "good reputation". Since we enrolled my daughter at another facility-- literally zero behavioral issues or complaints by the teachers or the daycare director, she's learning about her emotions, she's being guided instead of being labeled. She doesn't require additional learning support because her teacher is an educator who teaches her to manage her behavior and emotions. I know this place was not a right fit for my family-- and that's ok. However, a childcare facility SHOULDN'T ever be allowed to operate this way. As a parent, I have major trust issues after my experience with Hockessin KinderCare because I really hoped they had my child's best interest in mind. Instead, they are operating as a business and not an educational institution.

**Beware of Changing Lanes Daycare!! **…read more My experience with this daycare was beyond terrible!!! Especially when it came to how they treated my daughter, who has special needs. From day one, Chantell, the manager, assured me that they would work with my child through her behavioral challenges and support her as we were getting her into early intervention. However, their actions showed the complete opposite. One of the most shocking incidents was when staff threw clothes in my daughter's face and demanded that she dress herself when she was on the potty. They also snatched the tablet out of her hands multiple times when she was using it, treating her harshly instead of offering the support she needed. Two employees even called me to confirm my worst fears... That my daughter was not being treated fairly by the staff. (This was all confirmed through a phone call from previous employees who quit two days before because of how they treated children badly and they were not being treated fairly... They also told me that they were waiting for a reason to kick my daughter out..) When it came to money, they were extremely shady. One morning, they told me my daughter couldn't attend at 7:30am unless I paid the tuition that was due that day. They also claimed I owed extra money from that previous week (which we did not) Also I did not have receipts (Which is my fault) since I mostly paid in cash or Cash App, I should have known from there it was shady and everytime I asked for a receipt they would almost everytime make a excuse that some was not there or able to write me one or they would put it in my daughters bag). After giving them all my money, they miraculously "found" a letter underneath there keyboard with the portion from my daughter's father's tuition and went back through their logs to say I owed even more! After all this chaos, when I met with the director walking out after handing them all my money, she forcefully squeezed my hand during a handshake in a very unprofessional manner. It's clear to me that this daycare does not like working with children who have special needs. They kicked my daughter out as soon as the early intervention specialists started coming in. I've since heard horror stories from other parents about how they treat kids with similar challenges. They don't work with parents as a team to help the children; they just want to get rid of them. They didn't even provide basic care for my daughter. She came home every day in someone else's clothes, even though she rarely has accidents at home. She always had a bookbag full of pee clothes... The final straw was the day they kicked her out. My daughter scratched another child (which we deeply regret), but instead of handling it professionally, they packed up all her things and had them waiting outside. Chantell didn't even have the decency to call or email me. She simply met me at the door at 4:30pm saying, "Oh, by the way, this is you're daughter's last day of school," If you're considering Changing Lanes Daycare, think twice. They will promise you support, but when it comes to following through, they will fail your child in every possible way. They don't care about children with special needs and will go to great lengths to avoid providing the care and compassion they claim to offer.

She supports families with resources, tips to help struggling parents, self-care for the families and staff so we are all successful within our educational and personal goals. Changing Lanes Learning Center provided an enriched learning environment for my three girls (12, 6 and 4 years of age). To know what a quality education setting is and having one available to foster my children growth and educational development has been a blessing. I have recommended this school to many people personally and professionally. I have referred students and families I have serviced in the regular and early intervention circuit. Do not recommend this place for first time daycare kids…read more Neither the teachers nor the director is prepared to handle new kids. Will let the kid cry it out in their chair starting from Day 1. No compassion showed towards kids, nor the ability to teach kids. They can only handle daycare ready kids. So if your kid is new, be prepared to pick them up by 10am, since the crying new kid is disturbing the other children. Also, have backup child care, since the school can remove the child with no notice whatsoever.

A short time after her first birthday I realized my child had developmental regression & sought out help through early intervention services who worked with her in daycare at this facility twice a week. She lacked in communication & also had some sensory issues which early intervention helped TREMENDOUSLY! Up until maybe a few months ago she started having some behavioral issues which her OT & ST were aware of & worked with the school tirelessly to come up with ways to help them HELP HER in the classroom but were blantantly ignored. Instead they chose to record my child which by the way is now only TWO, in instances where she may have been having a meltdown , not able to make her needs known or simply was having sensory issues that others couldn't understand & didn't try to. One of the ladies who works the front desk Christina referred me to another service which is like an IEP who can be present with my child everyday at school to help with her behaviors when her OT & ST aren't there. KEEP IN MIND, these services are not typically offered to 2 yrs old bc they normally work with kids 3 & up. They also would be able to give my child an officially autism diagnosis on eval. Well, yesterday 5/22/25 was my child's ST day & I read every note she writes when her sessions are done from 10am-11am. According to her my child had a great day! Spoke with her teachers about her behaviors throughout the week & was told she has been doing better with keeping her shoes on & instances of "scratching others." However, when I picked her up @ 4:30 I was told by Christina at the front desk that my child had two altercations with another child & "scratched them on the eye lid then scratched them on the side of the eye & in a nut shell tmrw is just going to have to be her last day." No prior meeting with me or even her ST/OT to discuss her behavior to say hey if it continues in a week or so I would need to start looking for other centers to send her to. Nothing in writing for me to sign her dismissal/termination. Just flat out she has to go. I've been getting the feeling they didn't want my child there & instead of doing it PROPERLY they did it EXTREMELY DISTASTEFUL & unprofessional. They also have high turnovers with staff & even have some employees who simply should NOT be working around small children! Ms. Chrissy was my child's main teacher this year & also the only teacher who seemed to understand my child's needs & also listened & learned her better by working with her ST & OT to implement their goals for my child in the classroom. I am also an LPN & work 7a-7p 3 days a week so I have to take my child to daycare by 6:30am those mornings. Usually Ms. Taryn & one other child is there that early but on a few occasions she was not & it was just Jon who is also married to Christina there watching that child. Again, my child can only say a few words & I NEVER felt comfortable leaving a little girl around a grown man unattended! I don't care if it's only for 5-10 mins while Ms. Taryn runs late or whatever the case may be it should NOT be allowed for everyone's safety! Marianne who also works the front desk is very rude & nasty! I hate to say it but it definitely feels as though race plays a big part in this daycare as there aren't many African American kids there. My experience in the beginning was great but over the last year has been terrible. I am a working mother of 2 & now have to seek alternative childcare because they literally just threw my child out with no warning. I am in the process of seeking legal action against them! Parents please don't let the "family owned & operated" slogan fool you. PLEASE be mindful when sending your little ones to these careless, money hungry people !!

The outdoor space is great, and they have art, tumble tots, and music programs weekly, special events for the kids throughout the year (such as animal visits, ballet shows, music performances), in addition to the Montessori program and the after-care options (which features a lot of creative play, cooking, and play spaces that are updated with new themes monthly). I strongly believe that any childcare setting should make you feel happy whenever you walk in- and that is the case for us. I love walking in to Bala House. To be honest, I was actually very worried and unsure about starting my daughter in a Montessori school. I had never had this experience and from the outside the teaching model seemed a little cold and isolating. Also, my daughter has a ton of energy and I was worried she'd be too wild to sit nicely on a little mat "doing her work." And I was worried about the class size- 24 kids seemed like a lot. But, I was surprised to find that despite being on the young end, she sits and focuses on her projects. She seems to enjoy the opportunity to choose activities for herself, and she gets tons of interactions with other kids, in a mixed-age setting (she loves the older kids!) She's made a ton of friends and is learning so much- socially, emotionally, and academically. And- many days she begs me for more time at pick-up, which I take as the most important stamp of approval ;) I also have to note what a great experience this has been for us as parents, to have this community. When we moved here from out of state last summer, not only did my daughter quickly, happily, and easily transition into the summer camp program (a great way to transition in, by the way- although they also have "phasing in" days for new students to help with this process) - but we also had an instant network. It was easy to make friends through the school's many events and parent's association. It is a community I'm enormously grateful for. Finally, I have to give a shout out to Miss Adiya.
