As an infant, moving infant, toddler, & 2 year old there had been regular activities & lesson plans covering science, basic math, sensory tables, ABCs, etc. There were quarterly conferences with the parents/guardians. About a year ago, multiple long time teachers left for other jobs & after this, the classrooms became overcrowded, unqualified people were hired, and lesson plans along with conferences ceased to exist. Our son came home multiple times angry, sad, & with bite marks. Despite asking for more information about what we could do to improve his life there or what seemed to be causing his big emotions, nothing changed & we were just told "this is normal behavior". The director promised to look into the lack of lesson plans & all they did was document the morning story time. The rest of the day was unstructured. Our son didn't want to go there anymore despite his friendships with his very good friends because there was no consistency with who was in charge in his room. There were different teachers & aides every day. When we decided to leave, we told him it was because he is a big kid now & big kids go to new schools. However, one of his teachers at Tutor Time told him he was leaving to go to a school "to teach him how to behave" 2 months ago, this location was under a DHS investigation for a restricted disciplinary act against a child. I also witnessed & reported a new teacher screaming at 4 month old infants. Despite this, she was kept there for a few more weeks before she left. Our rate was increased multiple times per year all in the name of being able to hire better people, however, untrained people were consistently hired instead. The bright spots that Tutor Time has going for them are both Miss Brittany's, Miss Laurel, Miss Grace, and Miss Alison. They are wonderful human beings

It was a bit rough in the beginning because he wasn't used to being watched by anyone other than my husband and myself. Fast forward and now we drop him off, his teacher holds her as out and calls "mi amore!" and he runs to her and we are forgotten. I couldn't ask for anything more than his happiness independent of us. They have the largest indoor play area of any daycare in Minnesota. They use cloth diapers, as do we, so that is a huge plus. They feed him organic foods with lots of fruits and vegetables with water, so he is developing healthy eating habits and he no constipation issues (I'm in healthcare, so I know it matters). The desk is very responsive, quickly answering any emailed questions.

Here are the reasons why: 1. 2 out of the 3 teachers only spoke Spanish. The only bilingual teacher did not arrive until 9 am. 2. The layout of the "front desk" is odd. It is not on the level you enter the building, and it is not staffed. If you have a question and cannot speak Spanish, there is no one to ask. 3. The building does not seem secure. There are multiple entry points, and no one is monitoring who is coming and going. 4. Poor communication-they did not return my phone calls regarding medical issues that occurred at the school. 5. Daily reports were not completely filled out, so it was difficult to know what she was eating/not eating. 6. The infants went outside 2x during the 3 months we were enrolled from June-September. 7. The infant & toddler rooms have no natural light. 8. They advertise "wholesome & organic" food, but the majority was processed and high in sugar. 9. My daughter would be starving every time after leaving Tierra. When I inquired if seconds were offered, I was told infants could share their neighboring child's plate if they didn't finish. 10. They dumped unused breast milk without communicating this to parents. 11. The owner refused to inform other parents when there was a communicable disease in the room. (pinkeye) 12. 2 of the 3 teachers in my daughter's room were not warm and friendly. They definitely seemed overwhelmed. 13. The room was not staffed 4:1 in the morning until 9 am. 2 things they did well-the head teacher was fantastic. The artwork we brought home was great.

Before the school year started we were able to meet our daughter's teacher, Sally, with a one-on-one classroom visit and she took special care to both share with us about her experience and what we could expect in the classroom. The staff wanted to know about our daughter ranging from her interests to level of potty training so they could help her appropriately;-) I was relieved that my three year old didn't have to be 100% potty trained before we sent her. They also sent home a picture diagram of the classroom schedule for the day so we could talk it through with our daughter and she had much less anxiety about her first school experience. Throughout the year, the preschool and staff continued to impress me with their awesome hands-on activities, music curriculum (brought in by mcphail music) and opportunities for my daughter to learn social, academic, and motor control skills. The fall parent-teacher conference was focused on how our daughter was adjusting to school and the new structured learning environment. The spring conference was very helpful in learning where our daughter excelled as well as where she could use improvement (especially before starting kindergarten). I thought our teacher, Sally, did a great job of clearly and directly communicating with us. Judson's director, Kelly Hollis, was new in the 2017-2018 school year and she has worked hard to get up to speed with the school's activities and students. It seemed like the year had just started and she knew every student's name and any individual needs (dietary, behavioral, or other). Our daughter had a bee land on her hand in the playground outside of school hours and Kelly happened to be there and very quickly calmed our daughter down (even though she wasn't stung she was scared by the incident). Kelly called and emailed us at home that night just to check on our daughter. You will be hard pressed to find someone that cares about the children more than Kelly. If you are looking for a great preschool community to be a part of- I would wholeheartedly recommend checking Judson out!

Blind focus on numbers and letters and hard academics doesn't actually help children succeed in Kindergarten. It's part of why Minnesota and other states are breaking away from the rigor of No Child Left Behind. Any kid can memorize their numbers and alphabet, or watch PBS kids to learn. We want children to understand the foundations and JOY of learning. In terms of donations, we expected to donate so that tuition could stay low. Donations are typical for private preschools. In the Catholic school my son previously attended, the suggest amount of donation- and parent volunteer times- were given in writing and we had to commit at the beginning of the year! I appreciate that Judson was more flexible and allowed parents to choose the amount of money and time they could donate. As a working mom, I need that. Parents that are not happy have ample opportunity to voice concerns to the management and teachers in Fall and Spring conferences. The school also does a survey at the end of the year. Parents can also serve on the Board. Judson school was a wonderful experience for my children. We've been through a few schools and daycare settings, and it by far exceeded what is available in the market. Even the NAEYC-accredited daycare we tried fell short.

She was not sleeping well, not eating well, was getting sick often and they always seemed to have staffing issues. The toys/baby gear were very outdated and there didn't seem to be a big focus on a scheduled curriculum. It was very evident that the teachers worked REALLY hard but often seemed to be mismanaged and chaotic. My mom gut told me this was not a great for baby so moved to a new center and she is now thriving, learning and so happy to be there. Sorry, but I do not recommend.

Finally I changed daycare and after the second week my daughter was smiling, have many friends and play with them. I see that she loves her group and the teachers and also they love her. Also this daycare is less expensive! I lost my time and my daughter's time at Especially for Children. I don't recommend this daycare for new kids as it could be an awful experience.

Our son has been in a few different daycares across the last few years due to closures and us moving and I can easily say this is our favorite. We've never had a center director that has been as responsive, present, and supportive as Ms. Brittany has been throughout this entire process. The assistant director and the classroom teachers have also been wonderful! They have live-streaming cameras which make checking in very easy but the trust that has been built so quickly has made the cameras just a simple, fun perk now instead of a comfort necessity. The teachers are also great at providing frequent updates on the app. Our son loves going to "school" and literally runs in most days! We are so grateful to the entire team there!

Absolutely no structure and they allow kids who repeatedly hit and harm others to remain at the school. After almost 2 years I had to pull my child as it took more of my energy to monitor everything on the camera rather than to trust the staff. If you want to pay $1,500 for pre-k for your child to be given a tablet or watch movies at lunch, then go to this school. Leadership does not lead and they say they will fix things and don't.

She could not answer any of my questions and simply told me to email them through the website. So I did. My emails were responded to casually, slowly, were not signed so, again, I have no idea who I was corresponding with. Sometimes I would go a week without receiving a response at all, and when I finally did my questions were not even addressed. To me, it showed a lack of organization and care. They were the most proximal and least expensive of the dozen daycare facilities I contacted, which are huge pros, but how can I possibly send my kid to a place that rubbed me wrong every step of the way? UPDATE: Th director of the school emailed me back (nearly 8 months later) apologizing and saying my message "went to the spam folder and got deleted". Since my emails were in direct reply to their own, I don't know how that could have happened except by someone tagging it as spam (perhaps by accident, but either way only reinforces the disorganized impression I have of this place)
