MHK has multi-age group from 2.5-5, which helped him learn from big kids and patience with younger kids. He also learned to better articulate his feelings/needs, how to be kind and respect of others, and made friendship with the other children in a meaningful way. We saw them having real conversations with each other, sharing thoughts and feelings not just playing. MHK also sparked new interests in our child. There's no shortage of conversation at the dinner table about space, weather/seasons, dinosaurs, colors, and everything he's learned at school that day. Our son was so excited to go to school every.single.day!We also felt really safe at MHK, knowing that he's being treated with love and he's learning so much. Now that he's in TK, the homework that is assigned at school are similar to the academic curriculum at MHK. We've been completing these with ease and our TK teacher has been praising him in his academic abilities. Mindful Heart Kids is a rare and wonderful preschool that thoughtfully include play, mindfulness, art, movement and academic curriculum built into our child's day. There's no where else, or at least on the west side, that has this small ratio and dedicated attention built into their preschool. We are so grateful for this school for creating such a wonderful and safe environment for our child. We will definitely come back for our second child!

This preschool has been an absolute GEM in the heart of West L.A. it's a magical feel as the outside is so clean well manicured and perfect for kids to thrive. The setting is absolutely stunning with gorgeous trees picnic tables and a playground area. I loved how most of the time the kids are outdoors learning amongst the elements. Secondly, Miss Casey and Miss Giselle are two of the most amazing teachers I've ever met. (And I used to be a preschool teacher ). They are so genuine , kind, nurturing , and most of all warm and loving. My son is obsessed with them both!!!!. They really understand this age group so well. My son never wants to leave and is always excited to go. I love how the group is smaller than most other schools so he can get much more individualized attention. Lastly , they are so respectful and flexible to everyone's needs especially in this COVID environment. They've done such a fantastic job keeping everyone safe and healthy. I'd highly recommend Mindful Heart Kids! My son has THRIVED ..And so have we!!!!

Wonderful center for OT and Speech services!! We started here back in March 2021 with my daughter…read morefor feeding/OT services. We were so grateful to be able to get into a center based program (telehealth just wasn't an option for our little one) with very little wait time. It of course took her a few sessions to warm up to her therapist but once she did it was amazing to see the growth and changes she made. She went from severe difficulty with chewing foods and drinking from cups, to meeting all of her goals within 6 months. Amanda ( her OT) is so great and patient with her. We have expanded each week on what types of foods my daughter eats and have learned so many ways to keep her progress going at home too. We are so grateful for all of the help from Amanda. We also received speech services the past few months here. Melissa is our speech teacher and she is AMAZING too. So sweet and fun to work with, especially for our little one. We are moving services soon (just due to commute) and will really miss seeing her each week! Parking is tricky so arrive a bit early before your session. I highly recommend therapy place for kids for any families who need that extra help and support. The team is great and services are top notch!

My child attended DIG from age 2 years 10 months to 3 years 11 months and we were both completely…read morehappy with this decision. She had never been in the care of anyone besides her parents or two grandmothers until DIG. I was so worried about how my child would be treated somewhere, and this was the place I trusted to drop my child off for the first time. The teachers treat the children with respect and give them freedom while keeping them safe. The (real dirt) yard is one of the best. It is indoor/outdoor free-flowing, and surprise surprise, my child chose to spend most of her day outside. She loved being barefoot all day - shoes are optional. It feels tranquil and is fully shaded, I never put sunscreen on her. There is a pet bunny rabbit and a raised garden bed, slide, outdoor "kitchen," tricycles, trucks, dinosaurs, a water table, and DIG even spent a full week or two replacing the yard ground completely after the Palisades fires, which I deeply appreciated. There is also a tinkering room, pillow room, and light room. This is play-based and not an academic program, which is exactly what a 2 or 3 year old needs. My child did not attend for 4+ years old so I can't speak to that. After her time at DIG, my child went straight into TK at SMMUSD and is doing great there too. Take a tour - the day I took a tour I felt good and that tells you everything. ~ Edited to add: How could I not have mentioned the parent support group offered for free with a certified social worker who is aligned in philosophy! This a wonderful benefit! And, your child can play on the yard while you attend! DIG might not be ideal for you if your child still naps. It is possible to do, but there will probably be only 1 or 2 children who do (there is a room with bed where they can do that) but there is not a "class nap" culture. My child had already dropped her nap when we started, so I was specifically looking for a school who wouldn't try to force her to nap or force her to stay quiet and still while others napped, and so DIG was perfect for us in this regard.

My child is a creative, confident, social, adaptable, and empathetic 5-year-old, and I owe it all to this school, the teachers, and the curriculum. Blue Oak has a way of nurturing each individual kid, encouraging creative expression, and developing social relationships all with strong boundaries. As parents, we followed their lead and trusted the process. They gave us feedback all along the way on the areas of growth for our kid, and we followed their direction as much as possible. If there were situations at home that we didn't know how to handle, the staff was always open to offering guidance. Sometimes just reassuring us that our son's behavior is developmentally normal. They know what they are doing. When joining Blue Oak, other parents voiced concerns to me that in the TK program, the kids are not learning enough academically. I can confirm my son knows the same amount of math and phonics as children from other schools. Along with that, my son knows how to create sculptures from clay, stitch with thread, and create pictures with needle felting. He also excels in social settings and problem-solving compared to kids from other schools. Overall, I can't say enough good things about our 3-year experience here. I'm grateful I had the foresight to choose Blue Oak for our 2-year-old. Watching him flourish here has been the best.
