The class that evening was described as basics and learning choreography. That sounded great to me...a little choreography with what I learned would be phenomenal for a first class. I asked again if I'd be OK as a complete beginner. Yes yes I was assured. When I arrived there was a teacher at the front of the class and no one else inthe room but me. I was ignored. A few minutes later a second teacher arrived and stood talking to the first for over 5 minutes still completely ignoring me standing there. Eventually she turned her attention to me and lo and behold she was to be my teacher AND knew to expect me....yet she had still let me stand there awkwardly before finally saying hello. The greeting was lukewarm but okay. So then class started and all was well for about 10 minutes. We went thru a warm up then she taught me two moves the first slowly and well , the second rather quickly. The second "move" was showing the students how to exit the stage after their recital. Then she started the dance. And it went all the way thru, start to finish, with directional changes and moves I didn't know. She said we're gonna keep repeating this....wow sounds fun. If i knew what i was doing. I literally stood there unable to follow and she went thru the dance twice before addressing my awkwardness... "poor cherie you really got thrown into a full dance" she laughed. I said " yes, and I specifically asked on the phone if I'd be OK starting this class" her response was to half laugh and start the dance with the class allover again. I stood there again unable to dance then finally left. I was so upset and demoralized. I had literally driven an entire hour to take this class and paid $30 to stand there while they practiced for a recital. If she had paid any attention to details she would have seen by my movement that I obviously have dance experience and was wearing good Bloch dancing shoes. I would have been a dedicated long term enthusiastic student and they would have likely made $1000's off me. I'm going through a divorce and this class was my way of getting out of my pain and trying to immerse myself into something positive for me..only to get treated that way. I waited an entire day and a half after the class before writing this review fulling expecting the owner to reach out and apologize or try to make it right. But no one did....either Rhonda the teacher hid her poor classroom management skills and didn't tell the owner or she didn't care. I had also stopped at the front desk upset and explained my experience and how far I'd driven to them as well.. I'd have been perfectly happy being put in a corner of the room and practice a few moves with her checking on me between their dance practice but no options were given to me except to literally stand there lost.

The staff is excellent, she never had a teacher who didn't connect with her on a personal level and she always received top-notch personal attention. Her development both interpersonally with her classmates ("friends" in the parlance of Goddard) and her readiness for kindergarten was amazing. She was so well prepared that during her placement test for the public school kindergarten she currently attends the teacher giving the test came back after a few minutes and said: "Well that was the quickest test ever. Your daughter already knows everything she needs for Kindergarten." And it is not just the staff. Goddard attracts great kids and does a great job of teaching them. Every day when I dropped off and picked up my daughters I was surrounded by "friends" who would be just as excited to see me as they were my little one. It really is a great community of learners who are nurtured to do their best. I would completely recommend it as the finest daycare (honestly it is more a school than a daycare) in Rock Hill that I have run across and anyone who wants their child to have a successful start in life should seriously consider sending their child there.

That said, this review is not directed at them--it's directed at the organization, leadership, and ownership behind Oakcrest. We've had two children enrolled here since 2022 and have paid over $83,000 in tuition--never missing a single payment. We've supported the school, told other families about it, and truly tried to be good members of the community. Recently, our youngest was accepted into a new program, and we gave 35 days' notice that he wouldn't be returning. Unfortunately, I missed the "re-enrollment deadline" by 12 days and was hit with a $200 re-enrollment fee. I take full responsibility for missing the cutoff. But what shocked me was the complete lack of empathy or understanding from leadership. No flexibility. No conversation. Just a cold response quoting a handbook. I wasn't asking for special treatment--I was asking for basic human decency after years of loyalty. To make it worse, the communication around this policy was minimal. We received only one reminder in March--no follow-ups, no texts, no push notifications through the app. And yet, they'll call or message multiple times if your child has a mild illness. So it's not a tech limitation--it's a priority issue. Oakcrest brands itself as a "preparatory academy," but at the end of the day--it's a corporate daycare with a polished image. They're quick to run book drives and food drives (which families support), but when it comes to truly valuing long-term families--they've made it clear where their priorities lie. If you're a family comparing child care options, I'd encourage you to look deeper than the branding. Our experience has been a harsh reminder that no matter how much time, money, or trust you invest--you're still just a number on a spreadsheet to them. Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it.

It was a no brained then to transition our two boys to the Tega Cay location. We were disappointed from day one. The infant room was good for the most part, attentive with food, breast milk, and diaper changes. Once in the Toddler A classroom they taught good nap habits and for the most part were great with my youngest. There were several teacher changes so after a while we received no updates from them, and saw our son no longer progressing with his speech. For our oldest, we told them he was just turning 4, but they put him in a room with 2-3 year olds. There was an immediate teacher change and the kids stopped doing any workbooks or had any control in the room. I complained and then suddenly he was moved to a room with kids advancing to Kindergarten for the following year. This was night and day and he flourished. Unfortunately the head teacher retired and they merged two classrooms into one. Almost 30 4-5 year olds with only two teachers. Again we saw these teachers overwhelmed and our oldest seemed to no longer be progressing. It boils down to poor administration. These was very poor communication from the Director who took a long time to respond to parent inquiries or emails. Teachers often complained to us about lack of support from the Director, hence the turn over. We ultimately moved our boys in less than a year to another local school and are very happy there.

The video is rotating between rooms and it barely stays in your child's room for a few seconds. We pulled out our kid very fast after seeing how terribly this place was run.

Example, telling me the hours and standards of care are going to get better and 1 hour later sending a notice to parents that school was canceled until further notice due to staffing shortages. The low customer service level aside, my 2 biggest issues were 1) learning that their staff is allowed to smoke during working hours as long as they're 25ft from the building. I learned of this policy after the director walked past me at 7:30am smelling like an ashtray. 2) my son has a medical condition that requires immediate adult intervention (no formal medical training is required for this intervention). After communicating this issue multiple times to various staff members and filling out a formal medical form to put in his file, we were informed by a KinderCare corporate employee that there was no one on the property that would be able to properly care for my son if he had an episode at that time. Childcare should be a reliable and safe places for our children. Unfortunately, falling short of those basic standards doesn't even begin to describe the standard of care you will receive from this facility.
