Very negligent red flags I figured were only human, however every draft from there on had multiple discrepancies. During my temporary orders hearing, while I had a very strong case against an absent parent- Mary took it upon herself to mis inform the judge and say the respondent lied on federal reports- which I told her was not false information- she completely killed my case and threw all my strengths out the window. Following that, I received no apologies or communication, just requests for more money to move forward. This lawyer doesn't have children and may advocate family law is her strength but it's very apparent that she's only in this field for the $- you'll just be another check for her.

During the Rule 11 discussion, he stated that I could argue the points in question amidst the Temp Orders and/or Mediation proceedings. They represented us for approximately 96 hours and I promptly switched counsel due to the lack of concern for the urgency of our situation. There was an EPO put out on my husband that prevented him from coming to the house and any contact with family. This meant he was going to miss the holidays with family and be absent for our boys' birthdays. More pressingly, I was forced to run a single parent household of 4 kids which put our lives under severe hardship. We needed the EPO lifted ASAP and every passing day my husband was apart from us, I was barely making it through the day. I believe this urgency was conveyed when I came in the office but the firm failed to respond accordingly to the dire situation. Megan said she would call me with an update and I never heard from her. I was told the portal would be updated but there was nothing ever updated on the case portal. They simply emailed my husband with a court date of Jan 9th, which meant my family would've been separated for another month! No call, no explanation, just a passive email. A hearing date one month out was absolutely unacceptable not to mention the mode of communication with lack of concern to our circumstance. I have had my fair share of retained attorneys and scrappy communication especially during these trying times for our family is one that is unacceptable. We switched counsel and got a hearing date within 4 business DAYS! My husband was able to come back home within a week of switching counsel. We are SO glad we did not choose to stick with the Wilder firm. Our family would've still been torn apart today had they had continued representing us. Oh, and worse, they still wanted to keep 25% of the total fee for the fruitless work, despite the bare minimum effort they have put into our case in those first 3 days. I've called their office SO many times and the front desk kept saying the attorneys are busy, that they will call me back, but it's been about 3 weeks and no one has called me back. Go figure. Also be prepared to shell out another grand on top of their fee for all the classes they expect you to take. It seems their strategy is to take all the classes you possibly can, regardless the severity of the offense, rather than taking a strategic approach on a case-by-case basis. Less work for the firm I suppose. I'd like to warn others to stay away from this firm if they expect compassion and want actions with a sense of urgency, because this was not that firm in our experience. "A good attorney knows the law, a great attorney knows the judge", I hope anyone that reads this goes to find a great attorney.

In one email (with the partner handling my case copied), a firm representative compared the disputed legal fees to "buying groceries." To my knowledge, that conduct was neither cautioned nor corrected. I found the message unprofessional, dismissive, and lacking emotional intelligence--especially in an expensive family-law matter, where I was already under significant stress. If you value being treated with respect and being communicated with in a professional manner, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Apparently.. "laws changed" when nothing was done by her before the 6 month period. I will say that I had hired her with about a month to work with (5 months in to my ex moving out). Well.. I had to fire her and hire another attorney maybe a day or two after the 6 month period went by when i finally heard back from her. The only reason i think I heard from her was because of my ex's attorney telling her about texts I was sending my ex about how she can't live as far as she was trying to. Which when i did hear back.. it was about texts I was sending my ex. Not any of the texts my ex had sent me triggering the texts I sent her. Not anything to do with the fact that 6 months went by and she did nothing to drag us to court or mediation prior to the 6 month deadline. No worries right? I now drive from McKinney to Sherman and back on Thursdays.. and back there again on Fridays doing the same thing, if it's not my weekend. If it is my weekend, I drive to Sherman and back at 6 on Sundays. It will only get worse when my daughter starts school. Not to mention, she literally got $5k-$6k for this "work" while questioning me instead of my ex's attorney over how my ex and I were texting each other. So the whole time she could've been collecting things that my ex had been saying to me... she chose to listen to complaints by my ex's attorney about things I was saying to his client instead of going back to them or documenting things to use against my ex. This lady and this firm literally ruined any chance I had at true 50/50 custody. Good thing I found another law firm literally next door to my ex's law firm to get closer to 50/50 or I would be screwed even more for ANOTHER $5K. At the same time, I found out laws did not change from my new attorney and there was nothing I could do other than sue the same attorney who I hired to help me, who screwed me.. for money. Money does not get back what I loss with my child. Those rules of living in the same county still applied and she did nothing before 6 months passed (according to my new attorney). Thanks to this place dropping the ball, my ex can now live within a 100 mile radius of me (rather than the same county we raised our daughter in) which has been extremely expensive. It costs me work hours to make our meeting point. It costs me a lot in gas money and time with my daughter staring who get to stare at me from the back seat as we drive to and from our meeting point with her mom.

We paid $3,300 The Wright Firm to recoup $3,800 due to us from Chesapeake…read more We hired The Wright Firm to help us settle an ongoing dispute regarding mineral rights with Chesapeake Energy. The initial consultation was with Paul Wright November 2015 at which point we paid a $1,500 retainer. After we inquired as to the status of our case, Julian R. Kehler contacted me via e-mail in February 2016 with a list questions to *begin* working on the matter. All of the questions would have been answered had he reviewed the exhaustive packet of documents with research, documentation and chronological correspondence with Chesapeake, so I forwarded the original submission from November. I received a follow-up one month later stating the case was still in process. Three weeks later, a response letter from Chesapeake was forwarded to us. Two weeks later, we got a hopeful message stating the matter would be resolved very soon. Two weeks later, I sent a message to Julian Kehler and CC'd Paul Wright expressing my concern over the initial retainer payment only to have to reach out over two months later after not hearing anything in response. The letter was answered promptly by Paul Wright and we felt comfortable continuing the case. The correspondence came periodically over the next several months with delays of one week to up to a month without hearing anything. We found Mr. Kehler to have lackluster energy and with little interest in follow-up without being prompted. When we hadn't heard anything for over three months, we again reached out to Paul Wright for his assistance. In summary, after being unable to get any traction with the behemoth Chesapeake over a mistake *they* made years prior, we were then unable to get timely responses and any sort of proactivity from the attorney we were paying to help us. The only consistent communication from The Wright Firm was the bills which came like clockwork. Although our initial complaint never changed (full payment from Chesapeake along with attorney fees), Mr. Kehler did not demand the attorney fee reimbursement and would not pursue Chesapeake after their insult-to-injury letter denying reimbursement unless we continued to pay additional fees.
