I would appreciate if this review could find its way to Dr. Michael Krall. Dr. Krall is a very good…read moredoctor who created rapport with both of my children in his previous practice. Since the dissolution of that practice, I have been consistently disappointed with his corporate overseers at UPMC. The last few visits my son and I have waited in the waiting room for a minimum of 20 minutes. This past visit, I was told that he could not be seen because 1. I went into the "sick" entrance instead of the "healthy" entrance, and 2. They have a five minute late policy, and it was 8:06. Dr. Krall, you are a good doctor who inspired trust in my children. You gave them their first inoculations when they were just a few weeks old. And now because of your affiliation with UPMC, you will never see them as patients again. Please break free from UPMC. You are being managed by accountants who expect you to be a means to their production goals instead of an advocate for the children you treat.

If your child has autism, or may have autism, this is the last pediatrician's office you want to…read moresee. Before my son was diagnosed with autism, Dr. Burks kept telling me not to worry about him not speaking or having autism. Another doctor told me that becuase he was a happy baby and wasn't screaming when they touched him, that he definitely didn't have autism. I didn't listen to them and took him to Penn state health and he was diagnosed with autism. If I would have listened to heritage pediatrics, I would have never got him tested. Fast forward a few years, my son had a suspected UTI. I took in a sample of his urine and they lost it. I called several times and I was told they would call me back and they never did. I finally went in, in- person to ask where the sample was and after getting shuffled around from nurse to nurse, the doctor admitted that it was lost. She tried to blame covid even though covid had been "over" for about a year or two at that point. Last, one of the newer doctors at the practice dismissed my concerns about scoliosis in my son. We had X-rays of his abdominals done for constipation issues and in the X-rays you could see a curve of his spine. Dr. Crawl quickly checked him and said he was fine. I took him to Penn State orthopedics last week and they diagnosed him with a 28 degree curve of his spine. They also told me that children with autism have a high chance of having things like scoliosis, something that his pediatricians at Heritage never told me. I am so utterly disgusted with the care or lack there of from Heritage I could just cry. They have let us down over and over again. I have tried to switch but many of the good pediatricians in this area aren't currently accepting new patients. Do not make the same mistake I did and got to Heritage.

This office is full of experience and expertise. I brought my son in this weekend with some belly…read morepain, but not a typical presentation for appendicitis. They fit him in past the scheduled hour for a Saturday visit. He was not that sick - no fever or nausea. I was a bit insistent because this is the second time with middle of night belly pain for him and I just had a feeling about it. I asked straight out that she sort this for us -- obviously tall orders. But Dr. Deb stayed calm with me and put her finger in just the right spot - my son winced - she wrote for a sonogram and then checked that I was going to get it done. Meanwhile, I was on the way to the bigger regional hospital after the local hospital didn't handle scheduling him satisfactorily. And so my son had an emergency appendectomy at the bigger hospital. Dr. Deb called several times to check on him and was kind, supportive, just absolutely wonderful. I'm really grateful to this practice, and especially to this smart, talented pediatrician who is that rare example of someone so good at what she does she can lay hands on a patient briefly and make a tricky diagnosis. Thank you Dr. Deb!

I've seen every doctor within the practice and have never had a bad experience. The doctors are thorough and answer any and all questions I have, the staff members are friendly. Truly couldn't ask for better!

I called to schedule an appointment for my daughter and was told they do not accept self-pay…read morepatients and only see patients with insurance. As someone who chooses to self-pay rather than pay extremely high monthly premiums for a family plan, this was really frustrating. With recent changes, many families no longer qualify for subsidies and are facing very expensive insurance options, so choosing to self-pay is becoming more common. Because of that, it would be really helpful to see more practices offer options for families who are willing and able to pay directly for care. I was also told vaccines are too expensive without insurance, which felt a bit assumptive. Many self-pay families understand the costs and are prepared for them. Sharing this so other parents who are self-pay are aware before reaching out.

I originally really appreciated their forwardness with giving vaccines to children and their…read moregeneral attitude towards sensible public health policies, so I sought them out when we moved here. I have liked several of the providers there. It's hard to say bad things about kids' and babies' doctors. However, their office policies about late times and cancellations are unfair. The office staff who answers phones, particularly in Enola, is often extremely rude and offers ungrounded and unsolicited medical advice. The one receptionist said, "it's just a fever, she'll get over it." This is not something an anxious parent wants to be told. Worst of all was the experience we had with the pediatrician who saw my infant and launched a spontaneous uncredible CYS investigation because he was small for his age. I understand that they have duties as mandated reporters, however, this caused a tremendous amount of anxiety for my family. They recently dismissed us from their practice due to their lateness policy. I would definitely not recommend them and will be seeking out a new practice and hoping for the best.
