Mind you I don't check yelp for messages....The doctor wrote "Please consider solving this issue outside of Yelp so we have the chance to move forward, and my care for your father is not influenced, nor my referral relationship with Dr. X." Wow. It been over a month since I wrote my review and they have NOT reached out to me by phone, text or email. Perhaps carrier pigeon? I think it is outrageous to charge a fee for a so-called "priority" appointment during business hours! I never complained about paying for my orthotics, my foot comfort is important to me. However after spending all that money, it IS a problem if there is debilitating pain that wasn't solved. I'm writing this because I happen to have a bit of free time this morning, I think it might help any prospective patients know what they might be in for -- and, selfishly, it's my last ditch attempt to get a call back from him if he reads this review and it prompts him to return all the voicemails in his full mailbox. The TL;DR is that I think Dr. Wagstaff knows his stuff -- but working with him is going probably involve hearing him complain about the insurance business, some prickliness if you ask him any questions about his bill, and some challenges getting ahold of him. Please read on for more details. Pros: He seems to have solved my plantar fasciitis problem with some well-designed orthotics that he made the mold/cast for. He also seems very knowledgeable about that particular problem, which should of course be the case since he's a podiatrist. Cons: He does not have the kindest/gentlest "bedside manner", he is quite opinionated, and he is a little prickly -- especially when it comes to billing and insurance matters. It is abundantly clear that he very much despises the whole insurance billing thing, so much so that it seemed like he would use any conversational opportunity to launch into a rant about it while I was at my first visit and beyond. Such ranting also occurred when I had some legitimate questions about his extremely confusing bills -- which (if I recall correctly) he tried to blame both on his billing service provider and the health insurance industry. And he wasn't shy about sort of chastising me for bothering him with billing questions, saying something like "As it says on the bill, and on my website, you need to contact my service provider not me, that's what I pay them for" -- before even giving me a chance to explain that I had indeed followed his directly by talking to the billing service provider first. When I managed to get a word in and tell him that they were not really able to answer my question, he then proceeded to explain how he had structured and itemized the payments for some insurance-related reason, and if I recall correctly used this as an opportunity to continue on with his anti-insurance billing rants. In my view, as far as the service provider, he chose them - not me. So if he has concerns about them, he should either find a new one, or not disparage them because it comes off as very "pass-the-buck-ey". In terms of his dissatisfaction with the health insurance industry, he chose the profession, not me -- and given his youngish age, the health insurance system was like this well before he became a doc -- so I'm not sure why he thinks it makes sense to complain about an aspect of his profession that he should have been well-aware of before he pursued it. Another concern I have is the main thing prompted me to take the time to write this review: unresponsiveness. I left him a voicemail about a week ago with a very straightforward question. Notwithstanding that his website says, "Voice messages returned at end of clinic's or next business day", I have yet to receive a response after several days. When I tried calling again today, his voicemail box is now full and unable to accept new messages. So then I went to his website to find his email address to try to contact him that way, and there was no email address. In addition, I don't believe he has any receptionist or assistant as I have yet to come into contact with one, and the "Staff" link on his page lists only him. I therefore have no way to get in touch with him now, unless he suddenly decides to call me back based on the first message, or if I continue to call him back over the coming days to see if he's cleared out his voicemail. Before writing this review I considered whether I should cut the doc some slack because he does seem to be a one man show, he might have many patients, etc. But what put me over the edge to write this is the fact that dude only has office hours for a total of 24 hours a week, and thus can't be THAT busy. I suspect that he'd say that those 24 hours a week only represent a portion of his working day as he likely needs to manage insurance paperwork and other administrative matters -- but I can't imagine that would take more than 10-20 more hours (max). And as a professional myself who works at least 50 hours a week, I don't have much sympathy for that sort of a work week, especially if his rationale for not responding to me call is that he is "too busy", which is what I suspect it would be. In fact, I would think that as a professional and small business owner his desire to protect his professional reputation and his desire to keep getting good yelp reviews would lead him to actually follow through with his stated commitment to return calls within a business day -- or at least a couple days later. So it looks like I may need to take my wife's advice and take my business to her podiatrist. read more

Dr. Wagstaff really helped me out with a Plantar Fibroma issue in my arch. My condition had gotten so bad that most other doctors would have recommended surgery as the only option. Dr. Wagstaff said he was confident that there was a non-surgical option using regular intense stretching. In about a month of stretching, my feet had recorrected themselves and I was able to be cast for orthotics. My feet feel SO much better now, and without surgery. I've been to numerous podiatrists the past 20 years for orthotics. I would change types of shoes/orthotics every 5-10 years per recommendation but always felt there was something missing. Dr. W explained the problem and super simple solutions/and eventually new orthotics. Other people in my family see him too. He doesn't push excessive appointments or invasive treatments either. I decided to write a review after Dr Wagstaff treated my so badly when I went to him with an injured foot. He was insensitive and kept interrupting me when I explained the pain. He suggested orthotics, but I never went back since he couldn't even be bothered to listen and he was very rough with my foot when he examined me. Dr Wagstaff is a wonderful doctor, I feel so fortunate and grateful to have been able to be his patient and benefit from his knowledge and skill. In the spring of this year (2018) I was having trouble walking as my toes were numb. That was alarming for me as I normally spend most of my day and my life actually on my feet with working, doing things in my yard/garden, hiking and so forth. Becoming sedentary, due to the inability to walk, is not an option for me. Dr Wagstaff examined my feet and determined the cause of the problem. With his expertise he advised me to do some exercises that were not overly demanding. I was able to go home and work toward getting better. Over the following weeks, my feet began to feel better and function better so that I was walking with less numbness, in my next follow up visit, the examination showed improvement in the degrees related to my foot positioning. Over the next couple months I got better and better. I ended up with a couple of options, which Dr Wagstaff explained thoroughly to me. I chose one of the options presented, orthotics. They were not a requirement to continuing to walk but they were one of the ways to secure my future of walking which I felt based on my own judgement to offer the most success long term. I can now say that without surgery, but with mechanical interventions, I am able to walk and do all the things I used to do, I recently went on a several hours hike again. I went to Dr. Wagstaff for a 2nd opinion on surgery to fuse the bones in my feet. He did an evaluation and suggested a non-surgical treatment plan. Three months later I could not be happier. My constant foot pain is gone and I am walking 1 to 2 miles a day. A big change from not wanting to walk to the mail box. The person who referred me to Dr. Wagstaff is a golfer who was not able to walk 9 holes before treatment, and is now comfortable walking the full 18. I highly recommend Dr. Wagstaff. read more

I just want to update this review. As we attempted to resolve our dispute, here's what happened: - I paid my bill in full, $500, outside of insurance. on promise I could pick up my orthotics. - After receiving payment, Wagstaff's office declined to deliver the product. - I challenged the charge with my credit card fraud department. - He argued -- and won -- that his "billing" department was a separate business and never provided me with a product, so my fraud claim was against his "billing contractor" and NOT against his doctor's office. - Since orthotics are a custom product, I presume that out of spite his office threw them away, rather than give them to me. Dr. Wagstaff was great! I saw him with a sore right ankle from a previous talus bone fracture from snowboarding. After a thorough examination it was determined that my left leg is longer than my right leg and this was causing problems with the biomechanics and alignment of my right leg and ankle. My right ankle was significantly over pronating and causing discomfort. The Dr. gave my a list of a few exercises to stretch my muscles for correct range of motion and gave me 2 different sets of orthotics one pair for my lace up shoes and another pair for my "flip-flops" (yup, my flip-flops)! I went to Dr. Wagstaff to order a new pair of orthotics. He took the time to explain the " biomechanics" of my foot, ankle, knee and hip (!), and what needed to be corrected first before investing in new orthotics. He made adjustments to my current orthotics and let some time pass before measuring me for new orthotics. This, as Dr. Wagstaff explained, would allow time for my feet to be in "the ideal position" for walking and pivoting. I went to see Dr. Wagstaff for a second opinion. My primary was suggesting surgery to correct my long raised first metatarsals that have resulted in arthritis, bone spurs, deterioration of cartilage, hallux rigidus and a lot of pain at the mere age of 32. Ordering xrays from my primary was a long and laborious process but I was advised to obtain copies to bring to my appointment - which made perfect sense to me. When I saw Dr. Wagstaff and told him what my primary had diagnosed - he asked who my primary was and it immediately became Dr. Wars. He had gone to school with my primary and it became very apparent that he was considered competition. That was the first sign that he was unprofessional. After hearing my symptoms and diagnosis he went on to educate me about how the foot works. He grabs my foot and bends back my big toe and a shooting pain surges through the foot. I start crying... he keeps talking... He then said that he didn't need to see my xrays, he already knows what they are going to look like and how to diagnose my problem: $200 shoe inserts that he can make at that very moment. I asked him about the bone spurs that make most shoes painful. His answer was "I've seen worse." If he was fully aware of the problem I had with my feet with his xray vision then how did he not know that it would hurt to pull my big toe back? I went on to have the surgery and I couldn't be happier. I truly believe that most feet problems can be addressed with the proper shoes and inserts - I will agree with him on that - but not all of them. My condition is a bone deformity that I was born with - maybe he could have seen that if he looked at the xrays that I brought. Dr. Wagstaff was arrogant and unprofessional. I WOULD NOT recommend his services. *** In response to Dr. Wagstaff: I assure you there is no misinformation presented. It is quite a detailed review for an "imaginary person". Having no record or recollection of my visit only reflects poorly on you. I agree that Dr Wagstaff is very knowledgeable and quite good at some things. However if you have Medicare, expect to be charged for enormous out-of-pocket expenses. With all reviews highly favorable EXCEPT one...enough said! Dr. Wagstaff has always been highly professional and competent with both me and my daughter. Although I originally went to see him for my daughter, he took one look at my feet and basically knew immediately what I had been struggling with as well. Bunion that (I now know) was giving me both back and knee problems. He did not do the hard sell but recommended I try customer orthotics - which have proven to be a godsend. In conjunction with an exercise regimen to strengthen the right muscles to promote the correct positioning of the knee, I can honestly say I am truly pain free! I can do the most strenuous exercise (i.e. tennis) for two hours a day 4 - 5 days a week - an absolute miracle considering I could not even play for more than one hour a week previously without considerable pain. On a side note - I had to change insurance to Kaiser, but Dr. Wagstaff made it VERY reasonable for me to continue to see him to check in on my orthotics to make sure they are still working correctly and to recover them (you have to do this as they do get stinky after a while ha). I have recommended him to several of my friends who are equally as pleased with his results. And I will continue to do so! read more

Wow! I met Dr. Wagstaff after seeing another podiatrist in Marin County for a year! I had a stress fracture in my left foot and had been in the boot for about 6 months and then with the flat shoe for another 6. I was not getting better and still finding it difficult to resume any sports activities after a year. I found him through yelp and boy am i glad that i did. He is so smart and good at what he does. He helped me get back on my feet and fitted me with insoles for all of my shoes. I eventually, on his recommendation, got orthotics for my walking/hiking shoes and also for my dress shoes. I can't say enough good things about him. He got right to the heart of the injury and got me back to walking without pain. I highly recommend him. I feel like if i would have known about him when i first injured my foot that i would have been pain free sooner and on the road to recovery faster. The lesson that i learned is to not be afraid of changing doctors if you feel like you are not making progress. A year is a long time to waste. read more

Dr. Wagstaff successfully treated my left Achilles tendinitis and right Achilles tendinosis after another popular Marin County ortho practice failed. It was frustrating working with insurance, though, because they (United Healthcare) covered all of the other doctors' unsuccessful diagnostics and treatments but refused to cover the cost of Dr. Wagstaff's custom orthotics, which allowed me to avoid surgery! I'm a huge Wagstaff fan! I have visited him many times for various foot ailments. I'm an avid runner and my mileage causes a lot of things to come up that require a doctor's treatment and/or advice. Dr. Wagstaff is very knowledgeable, friendly and a no BS kind of guy. Every treatment or piece of advice he has given me has worked. I have visited other podiatrists in the area and have never been that impressed, but I get excellent results with Dr. Wagstaff. He focuses on preventative care which is much more progressive thinking that many doctors that just give you a quick fix. I also appreciate the fact that he himself has competed in various endurance events and understands the importance of staying healthy to be able to do what you love. Dr. Wagstaff is pretty great. Funny, kind, smart, but most importantly: good at what he does! I've had right ankle issues for 7+ years, and I went to Dr. W. on the recommendation of my general practitioner. I'm really glad I did. I've seen probably 12 different foot/ankle docs in the last 7 years (podiatrists, orthopedic surgeons, PT's, etc.), and Dr. W was the first to sit down with me and explain the mechanics of my foot as well as what type of shoes to buy and why. He then fitted me with an orthotic, which took a few days to get used to but now feels great (I can literally feel my foot collapsing when I don't wear it--yikes). I drive all the way from Walnut Creek to see Dr. Wagstaff. I appreciate that he begins his treatment approach with basic mechanics and non-invasive care, rather than jumping right into drugs and surgery (which is what I got from some other docs who will remain nameless). Plus, Dr. W. is living a healthy and active lifestyle himself, so you don't get the kind of hypocrisy you see with a lot of doctors these days. Highly recommend. read more

I am updating my last review because I have now seen Dr. Wagstaff twice and I get him and where he is coming from. It's clearly frustrating to have people who want instant results but with plantar fascitis (sp?) and plantar fibroma it just doesn't work that way. It takes time and he prescribed a simple and easy 5 minute routine that within two weeks, made a difference. He is my go to foot guy from now on as he is super smart and through and does not suggest surgery. Which I very much appreciate! Dr. Wagstaff is hands-down one of the best doctors I have ever had. I was suffering from post tibial tendon tear and had been booted for months. When I first came to Dr. Wagstaff, I had pretty much lost the ability to walk and was terrified of putting any weight on the booted foot. I have been recommending him to everyone, and I pretty much feel like he saved my life. That my might sound extreme, but I was afraid I had lost most use of my foot, and now I am back to all my normal activities including hiking and roaming about. Dr. Wagstaff is no-nonsense, and could not be a better listener. He also takes the time to explain everything to you in complete detail, unlike many other doctors. He doesn't dumb down information, just gives it to you straight and informatively. Luckily that did not turn out to be the case, I immediately felt good, that if I needed surgery, I would be in the right hands. His in-house custom insoles immediately made a huge difference, and my new orthotics are better fitted then from previous podiatrists. After just about five weeks I am basically, fully recovered. His instructions and advice about stretching and activity couldn't have been more helpful. Another thing I find really impressive, is that he tends to remember both what is going on exactly with your foot condition and also anything you might've told him going about your life. True story. I am prone to plantars warts. Embarrassing. I'm a swimmer so I'm often barefoot in locker rooms/pool decks. I decided 2015 I would tackle one I had for a while, it was quite large and smack on the bottom of my foot on the pad. It was painful, annoying, & gross. I saw my primary for three months of painful freeze treatments that did nothing but cause me to walk with a slight limp. My primary referred me to Dr. Wagstaff and I was afraid he was going to have to cut it out (which I had done previously on one in the exact spot on the opposite foot when I was 16, living in Chicago.) Dr.Wagstaff assured me there would be no cutting or freezing. He applied medicine and the wart was 98% gone after a few weeks! He applied one more treatment of topical medicine and the wart was gone forever! He also recommended new orthotics (my existing ones I used while running were over 15 years old). Since getting new orthotics, I've been more active on my feet (walking/running) and have considerably less knee pain and aches in my arches (I have totally flat feet). I've had foot issues for about 20 years, Dr. Wagstaff is the most helpful person I've seen. Other plastic orthotics turned out to be extremely painful. Cork orthotics worked for a few years, but no longer were giving adequate support. I found Dr. Wagstaff in the yellow pages, took a chance, and am very grateful. He recommended exercises to stretch tendons and muscles, I continue to do these. After 2.5 weeks the orthotics are still comfortable, I'm able to be on my feet with out pain, and I have more choices in foot wear. Dr. Wagstaff succeeds because he understand how the foot and whole skeletal, muscular system work and works WITH them. I have Kaiser, so this wasn't covered for me, but it has been worth every penny! read more

Dr Wagstaff goes above and beyond expectations in delivering expert care - he takes the time to fully understand what is wrong, how it happened, what can be done to fix it, and how to ensure you don't have the same injury again. He also is an advocate for patient care when many doctors are dropping patients because of the complexities of the new insurance structures. Dr Wagstaff spent hours on the phone to convince my insurance company to cover my visits - who would do that? Seriously! That is Dr Wagstaff - he doesn't treat patients like a revenue center, he completely cares and wants nothing more than to provide you the right treatment and to make sure you don't get gauged by profit-minded insurance companies. I came to Dr Wagstaff with foot and ankle injuries sustained from running. He understood my goal was to get back out on the trails as soon as possible and crafted a plan that would safely get me back out there with no additional setbacks. We started with him adjusting my existing insoles to help realign my foot. Eventually, I decided I wanted a custom orthotic (he NEVER tried to sell me on this) and also gave me exercises and instructions for physical therapy at home. After a week or so with the new custom orthotic, Dr. Wagstaff called me to make sure I was doing okay and to generally see if I was feeling better. Again, who does that? I first saw Dr. Wagstaff at least a year ago. I made an appointment because I had a pain in the ball of my foot that felt like I had a small pebble in my shoe. Following his examination, he made temporary orthotics for the shoes I was wearing. As soon as I put the shoes on and started walking around his office, the pain was gone. I have really flat feet that have created major physical problems : twisted ankles and knee pain while walking. I have spent years visiting various doctors and podiatrists in Marin and San Francisco with no real improvements. But Wagstaff is different! After three years of knee pain and difficulty walking and hiking, Dr. Wagstaff fixed my problems over a 6 week period. I take long hikes, 5-6 miles, around Marin's hills with NO knee or foot pain, thanks to Dr. Wagstaff's approach to engineering custom orthotics. The last podiatrist I used in Corte Madera was a slacker: In one session he X-rayed and cast my feet for orthotics and charged me over $800. My feet and knees got more painful and I stopped wearing the orthotics. I became very skeptical of doctors treating me. I got much better results from working out with a personal trainer, a physiotherapist, and my chiropractor. I asked all of my friends for referrals and was also directed to Wagstaff. My wife went to Dr. Wagstaff based on referrals from her friends. She has had excellent results and hectored me into seeing Dr. Wagstaff. I read all the Yelp reviews, especially the negative ones, and with a skeptical eye, made an appointment. Dr. Wagstaff built custom orthotics to stretch my calves and tendons to back to the right position. After several weeks of stretching, he then cast my feet to make the permanent orthotics. My knee problems have gone alway. I went hiking for two weeks in the Austrian Alps this summer, with my new orthotics: no pain whatsoever. Some folks on Yelp have commented that Dr. Wagstaff doesn't have a great interactive style. True, but only ask him technical questions about the mechanics of your feet, and you will see that he is technically very deep, trained as foot surgeon with the insight of a marathon runner. If there is a 'podiatrist nerd', ie expert in his field, Dr. Wagstaff fits the bill. If you have knee and foot problems I highly recommend Dr. Wagstaff ! read more

The billing has been a nightmare. Dr. Wagstaff's office submitted bills for treatment extremely late and in an incomplete way. The insurance predictably did not cover the bills because they were improperly submitted. So get billed for the full amount, due to the incompetence of his billing department. I spoke to my insurance multiple times. They explained that he needed to resubmit the bills and provide an explanation. The insurance also called his office explaining this multiple times. He has refused to provide an explanation and told me that I needed to just pay the bill because the insurance will not. I have spoken to his billing department and to my insurance dozens of times at this point and they're always surprised and confused and have no answers about why I'm being billed. Insurance reasonably says they don't pay bills that are incomplete. And the last time I spoke to his billing service they explained that they will just send this to a collections agency so I better pay it if I wanted to keep it off my credit. And this is beside the point, but the treatment did not work. Awful experience. read more

I called to schedule an appointment. I couldn't hear very well, and I said I'd like to schedule an appointment with the Doctor. To my surprise he says: "I did say dr Wagstaff when I picked up, didn't I?" A bit shocked by his answer, I asked for a specific day of the week. He immediately said: "no, I can do this other day instead." I tried to quickly look into my calendar for the day he suggested, and I heard an "uh!" I honestly was shocked at his impatience and said that I will call later, and he simply said "ok" and hung up!!! Of course I wasn't going to call that number EVER again. I visited Dr. Wagstaff a few months ago and, not only was I on the recieving end of a monologue that he had clearly recited hundreds of times, he completely missed the source of my foot pain ( an obvious diagnosis found soon afterwards by a Kaiser physician). He seemed intent on selling me orthotics which may have been helpful in the short run; but they did not address the problem which, properly assessed, was acute and did not call for the biomechanical adjustments inherent in orthotics. When I called to cancel a follow-up appointment (after I concluded that his manner and diagnosis were unacceptable), I asked his receptioist whether Dr. Wagstaff would be receptive to my inout as to why I was cancelling, she said that he probably wouldn't......Too bad there aren't ZERO stars. read more

It's been a few months now and unfortunately, it's still lingering. I first met Dr. Wagstaff about two to three years ago after asking around for local recommendations (and not receiving any). As such, I resorted to Yelp and as expected, there aren't many medical professionals who have Yelp reviews. At that time, Dr. Wagstaff had less than a handful of review but I figure, well, if someone took the time to review him, he must be good right? After the first visit, I was unimpressed but not turned off. I was interested in getting a pair of orthotics and thought it was odd that a Doctor would tell me to do a few stretches, sell me a pair of same day inserts, and to be on my merry way. Fast forward a few years later, I still wasn't able to find a recommendations for anyone local (though I admit I didn't look hard) and since I still wanted orthotics, I went back to Dr. Wagstaff. I should have realized at that appointment that things were going to go sideways when, he said that his notes had told me to return after my first visit, though I distinctly remember that there was no such comment. However, what's the point of disputing this since it's for misunderstanding to occur. From a service perspective, I don't have any unique or complex situation and Dr. Wagstaff was fine. He is educated, as one would expect a doctor to be, and his bedside manners are neutral. He'll listen, he'll talk and explain it in medical terms. Nothing to write home about but no reason to be turned off. However, someone once advise me that most doctors are fine for normal, less complicated visits but it's when things get difficult, that's when doctor selection becomes important. If I had any unique or serious conditions, I would not consider Dr. Wagstaff. My issue with Dr. Wagstaff stems from billing, which seems to be consistent with some the negative reviews herein. The amount under dispute wasn't high, probably equivalent to a romantic date night at Farm Shop that most patients would probably pay and be done with it. However I chose to discuss this with the office as the communication was not unfront and transparent. Had I know from the beginning what to expect, I would not have been upset. The discussion began with the billing department, which I think is a third party and had a very lay back attitude (meaning, nothing got done). Next was the office reception who was defensive and rude straight off the bat. It was likely the tone of the receptionist that set the stage for the discussions to go downhill as it took several weeks of messages before Dr. Wagstaff was willing to discuss this with me directly (if I recall, it was after I sent a certified mail). I will not go into details and share the exact language/statements that the reception or Dr.Wagstaff which was unprofessional and surprising. In the end, let's just say he wore me out. If I could give negative stars, I would. And I'm not one to go around actively giving negative feedback but in this case, anytime I see a posting on Next Door, or on the local Southern Marin Mothers Club's private forum which has over 1,500 members and averages 160 postings a day, or even in discussions with other parents at my kid's school, I am actively NOT RECOMMENDING Dr. Wagstaff. Not only is Dr. Wagstaff the best podiatrist I have ever met, he's one of the best doctors, period! I wish he could train other doctors. He is excellent at diagnosis, treatment and follow up. He has contacted me several times by email to check on how I am doing. How many doctors do that? I was with another podiatrist who was scheduling me for surgery when I got a referral from my MD (Dr. Dan Dinenberg in SF, also great) to Dr. Wagstaff for a 2nd opinion. Not only did Dr. Wagstaff advise against surgery, he said the surgery I was about to undertake could do permanent damage. We went with other therapies instead and I am making slow but steady progress. Dr. Wagstaff gets runners, because he is a triathlete himself. I live in SF but go to Greenbrae to see Dr. Wagstaff. Finally!! Relief!! I am a runner, tennis player and cyclist. I have been dealing with hip issues and plantar fachitits for 2 yrs +. I finally found Dr. Wagstaff and he explained why my issues are what they are and the approach that needed to be taken to correct them (no other doctor has taken time to explain these things to me). He made me custom orthotics and almost immediately my hip pain was gone as was my PF. I've had other orthotics in the past but they were made from poorly made material and needed constant adjustments, what a pain. Not Dr. Wagstaff's orthos!! His are very durable. I like that He takes insurance and he will always do his best to see his patients the week they call. He is an athlete himself, So he knows what pains people are feeling. He is very knowledgeable and professional. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Wagstaff if you are looking for a podiatrist. read more

I had exhausted all avenues through Kaiser to the point where I had been told I was not a candidate for orthotics and would just have to live with the chronic pain I was suffering as a result of a callous that had developed on the outside edge of my foot. From the moment I met Dr. Wagstaff, I knew I was in good hands. He went into detail on the structure and function of the foot and how my particular anatomy was contributing to my issue. He educated me on the process of how to work toward getting me into an optimal walking position through stretching exercises and custom orthotics. At the end of my first visit, I left with temporary orthotics and the knowledge of how to begin to heal myself at home. I immediately noticed a significant reduction in pain. After two subsequent visits I was fitted with permanent orthotics. Not only has the issue with my foot completely resolved, it is my belief that other related issues have healed or are well on there way to healing as a result of Dr. Wagstaff. I'm headed back to the baseball field after missing an entire season and could not be more excited. This man changed my life. THANK YOU. read more

A thoughtful and knowledgable Doctor ! I went to a hopeless podiatrist in Walnut Creek where I live but on the advice of my daughter in law found Dr. Wagstaff. It was worth the drive to Marin County !! He is a good listener (although I am sure he knew my problem the minute I limped into his office) and while his explanations are a bit technical it is clear that he knows his stuff. You can tell that he THINKS about individual cases and doesn't simply take the one-foot-takes-all approach. Also, his receptionist is extremely affable and didn't go into hysterics when I said I would pay in cash (because my insurance policy has a high deductible). Highly recommended. Don read more

I had a great experience with Doctor Wagstaff. I sprained my ankle (pretty badly) on the job and Dr. Wagstaff got me back on my feet and working a lot sooner than I would have expected. Not only was he flexible to work around my schedule, he listened to what was working (or not working) for me in the recovery process and made the necessary improvements. When one ankle brace was not working for me he listened to what the problem was and set me up with right one. Also, he set me up with a very practical stretching exercise that I'm sure was instrumental in my recovery (in fact, I still do the same stretch daily).
