However, by October the epoxi coat started to peel off (they did a bad job griding off the preexisting material). Michael the owner was here in November and promised to fix it as soon as possible. Since nothing happened and they did not even email me, I posted a bad review here on Feb 2026. He called the next day asking me to please take it down and promised, again, to fix the problem. After an exchange of emails, he finally set the job for last Wednesday (April 29). They did not show up and never contacted me. The coating continues peeling off and, at this point, I am very skeptical they will ever come back to correct their failures.

The cabinets cannot be cleaned as the paint will rub off if you attempt to clean them. It's very disappointing. There are no sealer clear coat layers of polyurethane over the paint so it is not protected for kitchen application. These cabinets will ultimately need to be stripped and refinished.

We discussed the project and he came up with a reasonable price and got to work. They did a bit of everything, carpentry, tile, electrical, drywall, etc. Jose is also refreshingly collaborative. They did a great job and Jose stands behind their work. If I find anything that isn't quite right or got missed, he said he'll come take care of it (100% confidence in this). When my next round of improvements start, Jose will be the first contractor I reach out to. Highly recommended.

Stephen James Painting is without question the best painting company I have worked with in my 35 years of owning several homes needing paint work inside and out. Stephen is prompt to respond to inquiries, sets a bid-meeting that he keeps and attends timely, provides an estimate immediately after that initial meeting, and sets and keeps a schedule to do the work. The work is thorough and professionally done. His team knows what they are doing and they take pride in their work. On one job, the product used on a metal barn roof was probably defective as within the first year there was some peeling and cracking evident. Stephen was quick to respond to my concerns, and without any hesitation or question came out to assess the issue, took full responsibility for the problem, and prepared and re-painted the roof. Has now looked good for the last few years. On another job, the color used turned out to be not exactly what I was looking for and Stephen immediately offered several different shades and repainted the area without any questions or complaints. First class operation and you will be happy with their work. Highly recommend. read more

You and your team are truly talented. Stephen Bishop has such a great eye for color. Working with him to create a luxurious color palette is just what this house needed. The color change now highlights once overlooked architectural details like our fireplace. Our kitchen cabinets now have a European flair, we just love. The final touch was the red front door which is so welcoming. Living at home while Charles and the crew repainted the house was a great experience. The crew was always so customer focused.
