I see they somehow deleted my review from a few years ago…read more DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS "SCHOOL". The "teachers", incompetent. The facilities, piss poor. The principal, a money hungry, lying, conniving woman! The only reason my child went here is because someone convinced my son's mother that this awful establishment was a decent place for children to learn. Upon my first time dropping my son off, I got the impression it was everything but that. From their humble beginnings in an office park building they've managed to transfer to a new location with stolen funds all while falsely claiming to be a center of excellence. If they're so excellent, explain to me why one of their very own teachers couldn't discern between a noun and a verb. Explain why that same teacher didn't have an education license to save the school money. Also explain why that teacher was formerly a correction officer no more than 6 months prior with no prior education background. These are the individuals the principal are hiring to teach your kids. The principal herself is a joke. She's too scared to even have a face to face conversation about how terrible her staff is and threatened to call the cops on me for wanting to have a private face to face convo with her and one of her staff. Trust me, you'd be better off saving your money because you won't get the value for what you've spent when you could have sent your child to Georgia State for a year instead for what it cost to go to Philmore. You'll regret it and wish you'd taken heed. I beg of you, don't do it to yourself or to your child. I promised this woman I'd ruin her business and I will not stop until she's out of business! The post below is so she doesn't come on here lying as if she's never dealt with me before.

She's constantly having her staff wait for their paychecks, because the only thing she prioritizes is her wardrobe and personal expenses. This experience was so disappointing. Our children are now excelling at other schools and their grades aren't being manipulated to create a false sense of excellence. If the school is so excellent why aren't her school-age children attending?

I can't say enough great things about the experience my son had at A Unique Learning Academy. He began at age three and continued through first grade. The foundation he received has prepared him well! The administrative staff (Mr. & Mrs. Hunt) have been nothing short of amazing! They ensure that the children are loved, respected, fed well and provided the best opportunities to succeed. The teachers are also amazing and provide the structure, rigor and reinforcement critical to student success. A Unique Learning Academy has provided a foundation for my son that will last a lifetime! The owners Mr. and Mrs. Hunt love what they do. Mr. Hunt is the cook ( good hot meals at breakfast and lunch with extra incentives for academic excellence.) Mrs. Hunt is the Director, business driven, a teacher, mother and a friend. The school only goes to 1st grade and when your child graduates they are very well prepared for 2nd grade. My son is in the 99th percentile 3rd grade 6 month level in Reading, Language Arts and Math according to the ITBS test results, My daughter was 3rd/4th grade when she graduated from AULA as well. This truly is an unique place, phonics, counting, reading comprehension, computer, karate, weekly spelling test ( not the baby words either). Learning begins at 1 years old. The children enunciate their words and are challenged to be critical thinkers. The teachers care, know the children and parents by name, The rates are reasonable in relation to the results you will see in your babies. I definitely recommend this school to all parents with babies, toddlers and young ones. This is the right path to achieve the strong foundation for your children.

My daughter went to The Academy of Scholars and our experience wasn't the best. She started school…read moreabout six weeks late (which was required by the school since she was a new student to the area. I also wasn't told this until a couple of weeks before school started which was unacceptable), which I knew would be a challenge, but I expected more support from the school to help her get on track. Instead, there wasn't much communication or a real plan to catch her up. Her grades started slipping, especially in math, which has always been her strongest subject. I kept waiting for the school to step in with extra help or at least keep me in the loop, but that didn't really happen. It felt like they just let her struggle instead of working with us to make sure she succeeded. I was asked to email my concerns to the head of school in Jan of 2025. I am still waiting for a response and it's now a new school year. You have to let them know by February if your child will be coming back in the new school year if not you will be stuck in your contract and required to pay regardless of enrollment status. In waiting for a response, I went ahead and submitted a request to pull my child from enrollment for the next year. I assume that lead to their lack of support and interest in my child's education. I wanted this to be a good fit, but the lack of support and communication from the staff made it really frustrating. Families need a school that actually partners with them, and unfortunately that wasn't our experience here.

As with any school, some of their teachers are absolutely awesome, others are absolutely horrible due to their unprofessional communication with students and parents. These teachers would vindictively lie on the students and parents to cover up their own actions while the Director would just say "I support my teachers." Unfortunately, this support would be at the expense of the learning and mental health of the students. My children were cursed at, implied that they were dumb though straight A students; put in an academic group all by themselves with the teacher saying they were the lowest in the class, which was strange since the previous year they were above grade level. They both were also ostracized in the class and made to sit by themselves. When the sixth-grade teacher wanted to set an example for the class, she engaged in secret machinations with the Director, where she would falsely accuse a student to get them sent home, just to instill fear in the class with the Director's full support and knowledge of the scheme! She would also instigate conflicts with various students and then lie on them. She overtly lied in saying my child lunged at her, but then when pushed for clarity and asked to see the tapes from the cameras, she retracted her statement and said she didn't feel threatened. This was a straight up Emmett Till move from a black teacher at that! Note the Director does not have any real power as he answers to the owners. His only concern is his own job security. He seems nice, attentive with great eye contact and concern, but has absolutely no intention of doing anything. The Asst Director really controls the school and absolutely is misogynist, sexist and ostracizes parents he does not like from the school. The education is no better than what you can get from a decent public school as they use the same curriculum (Pearsons/Savvas) and do not do anything differently. You are only paying for a school with less negative student behaviors (the poor behaviors come from the administration). My children's previous private school did a way much better job of teaching successfully with proven academic results in practice, not just test scores. It wasn't just a few kids who were advanced, almost all the kids were one to two grades ahead due to the teaching methods. AOS advertise that the kids are reading in Pre-K, but that is because they came there reading. This is NOT a Christian School as advertised. The administration does not practice biblical principles and certainly do not exhibit Christian behavior. The bible class does not teach much and the teacher is more concerned with personal acknowledgement and adoration than exhibiting Christian values. Once teacher appreciation week comes around, you will see a lot of fake teachers smiling at you hoping to get a gift, especially the phony bible studies teacher. The kids learn nothing in Spanish class. Two years of the class, my children still were not taught the Spanish alphabet nor how to count in Spanish. Additionally, you can tell it is a toxic environment to work at. They have horrible reviews on Glassdoor and Indeed. Staff do not want to admit to understandable mistakes due to retribution and it is very cliquish authoritarian environment. Though some consider it affordable, it is not worth the expense. In comparison to other more expensive private schools you get what you pay for. In comparison to some decent public schools, it is not worth the expense. Find some other place to send your child. There are good schools out there in your community, you just have to do the work to find them. This is NOT it!
