look no further, this is it for R&B. I took the R&B class here for months and it was pure fire. I would take a two hour drive all the way from Malibu to get here, the only conflict recently is that I now work closing hours . As a dude that is whiter then sour cream and can't dance to anything this helped me become a much better dancer. I wanted to try R&B since I have found it fascinating on social media the attention it gets and it's a great way to impress the ladies without saying a word. It's like a combination of slow hip hop and breakdancing. It feels daunting in the beginning but Rey walks you through all the steps and explains the technique behind each individual complex move. He takes a move that looks impossible to do and he makes it possible to do for an average guy like me. I would without a doubt call Alejandro Rey the Royce Gracie of R&B since he truly has a deep love for the music and you can clearly see that through his teaching. He doesn't only instruct but he travels and performs R&B consistently around the country so there is no better teacher you could ask for since he is always sharpening his skills. Never had a mundane class, each one is unique and you will always learn something new to add onto your dance tool belt. One thing I like about Rey is that he will change a move on the spot to fit the music. You will learn a complex R&B routine and if one detail is off or can be made better Rey will throw in some really cool move so there is no wasted space in the song. Also you will see professional R&B dancers taking the class with you. It's kind of a trip because you will see these guys on tiktok or instagram weeks prior and on a Wednesday night they're right next to you in class learning from the best. R&B also bleeds into other areas of dance and builds confidence within yourself because it's not easy to perform in front of others. When you consistently show up you get consistently better and slowly you consistently becoming more confident with yourself since you are doing stuff you never thought you would be able to do. For me that was the most important aspect since I started talking to people (ladies) that I was too shy to talk to before. Also I know that I can do a dance most guys have a hard time doing but Rey was able to guide me through the weeds of it. Lastly Rey has couple R&B which is the perfect date. Take your lady here and the car ride home will be much different. read more

The owner of this studio only cares about money. She doesn't care about her dancers or the fact they are children. If you want a place where your daughter will thrive and grow as a dancer this is not the place. She belittles the kids and humiliates them in front of the class. Ms Alicia is a great teacher. The kids love her. I would recommend to any parent who want their kids to learn Latin dance.

My mom and I watched their performance last week...the entire school, from young to old, danced. We loved it! I had never seen a dance school performance, and some dancers definitely seemed to dance better than the students they are - at a professional level. I enjoyed the little ones so much! They have 2 year olds dancing, even if the only thing they can do is shake their hands. There was a couple that performed several times, and this is a duo that we thought had some professional background to them! So lovely to watch. It was great that they mixed adult, youth, and kids in order of performance, so they didn't give you all the young ones first or the adults grouped together. My daughter and I joined Paso de Oro five years ago. I can't believe where the time has gone. I have enjoyed it so much. It has been such a phenomenal experience for our entire family. Ms Alicia, Miss Erica, Miss Melissa and Mr. Gabriel welcomed Sage with open arms. My daughter is a beautiful blend of cultures - Guatemalan, Belizean, Mexican and African-American. Oh my gosh I am completely blown away!! Exceeded my expectations!! I book a free class and although the class was for advance dancers :/ as soon as I get to the dance studio I'm greeted by one of the instructors who answer all my questions and informs me the beginners class is held Saturday's at 10:30 monthly fee of $55 and a yearly registration fee of $35 but nevertheless my daughter is invited to warm up with the girls and watch a bit of the routine. She is then introduced to ALL the other dancers who one by one introduce themselves as well as the owner Alicia. Very professional the dance routines are amazing my daughter an I are both extremely excited for her to be apart of steps of gold and look forward to her being able to be good enough to perform. The owner just cares about money and her business. She doesn't seem to care about the people taking the classes. As long as her lease gets paid with the fees, that's all that matters to her. The owner Ms. Alicia had showed no interest of the happiness with her clients. Worse business owner ever met. They do win a lit of awards and trophies. But that's because they have people perform that are ready for the recital. If she feels they aren't ready, even if they have been in the dance classes for six months, she will not have those dancers participate. Waste of money if you're not a good dancer. read more

My family has been with Steps of Gold dance studio for many years. I must say the love and passion that the Director Ms Alicia has for her students and not to mention her culture is impressive. My once very shy daughter has definitely come out of her shell, performing the beautiful dances of Mexico in front of an audience with confidence and pride. The Instructors take pride in what they teach and ALWAYS conduct themselves professionally. The tuition is very reasonable and the costumes are gorgeous! Definitely good dancers and instructors but only for people with lots of money. The Directors are very caring and loving if you have money. Only people with a lot and I do mean A LOT of money can be in this company. The costumes are super expensive, yes they are beautiful but are made cheaper than what they are sold for. All the monies made in Fundraisers go to the directors to pay for their personal expenses. Some of the dancers/instructors (for little kids) show up all hung over. Very unprofessional. I Highly suggest that if you aren't rich or if you have high moral standards you take your business else where. Beautiful costumes definitely hide the ugly side of this company. Are you skinny? Are you tall? Do you have lots of money? If your answers to the questions above are yes then Paso De Oro is the place for you. This studio shows major favoritism towards who looks the best in a costume rather than who has the most talent, believing that an audience is only going for the dancers that are in shape. However, when I see a dance group raw talent is what I look for. The teachers think that the only way to grasp attention is by showing way too much and doing inappropriate dance moves. Elegance is way more attractive. The costumes are very expensive. They even charge extra for costumes that weren't custom made and were just bought at the store. Lastly, good teachers, but lack of professionalism and consideration towards parents and students. read more
