We have an amazing puppy from Sterling Labs. Fantastic breeder! Communication, assistance and expertise truly excellent. Would recommend to my friends and family.

It's a big deal dog ownership, a commitment for serveral years. We just picked up our English Labrador (from Finn and Ava litter Dec20). He is a beautiful dog with a block head and has a wonderful temperament. He took to his crate the first night and picks up on potty training so quickly. Mary Anne is wonderful and very professional, providing you with pictures weekly after 6 weeks. Ron is great too, giving you detailed instructions at hand off on vaccination requirements and feeding/care. The hand-off process and quality dog you will be getting is well worth the price. Thank you for our new family member! We are in love with him!

We purchased a Red Fox Labrador in July 2016, and we couldn't be happier! Our Rylee is the sweetest dog we could have asked for. She has the greatest disposition, and such a wonderful personality. She loves to go on hikes, to the beach and absolutely loves meeting new people and other dogs. She was a breeze to potty train and was the smartest one in her puppy classes. Her parents are Talley and Boots. -Tricia & Chris

Well it's been a year now since we've picked up Odin and we couldn't be happier. He's our little baby. I still remember the day we got him, we drove in to pick him up and they couldn't have been nicer people. They explained everything about him to us. He was up to date on his shots. How big he would grow. So happy we decided to get him. We would do it all over again if we could.

For several months were trying to adopt a labrador from the shelters. We had a hard time finding the right dog for us and the application process for adoption was cumbersome. Labs are hard to find and when we tried to adopt, the shelters were a bit discriminatory and selective. For those reasons, we got our cute lab Charlie from Sterling Labrador. Mary Anne and her family own this beautiful farm in Yuba City, CA. Upon arrival, she introduced us to her family and her amazing property. We sat down and had few conversations about puppy care. We weren't planning on getting a puppy that day but when we knew how professional and caring Mary Anne and her family about their labradors, we decided to take Charlie home. We were totally not prepared but he sat in the car for 2.5 hours very quietly and patiently, no pee or poo accidents. He came from a good place. I would recommend this place. Mary Anne and her husband were very knowledgeable about their labradors. Now Charlie is doing well, he's still a puppy. But he is in a good home, with good vet, and he goes to puppy daycare when we are working. He is almost potty train and it only took a week. He has a great temperament and very playful. Thank you Mary Anne and your family to making Charlie part of our lives. We appreciate all the advice you gave to us. Ryan and Rob.

I discovered Sterling Labradors using PuppyFind.com and purchased a yellow labrador puppy from them last month. I was disappointed to find nobody had reviewed them before on Yelp, as it is a bit scary spending $1400 on a puppy when you are basing your purchase solely on testimonials on the breeder's website, but we took a leap of faith and moved forward... What an amazing puppy! Great temperament, GORGEOUS and wants to please us! Can't ask for a better puppy and our vet checkup was great! The Sterling property looked great. They are located in a rural area outside of Yuba City. They had you step in a shallow pan of bleach water immediately after parking in order to avoid parvo virus transfer (this was a huge +++ for me, as I had a puppy die of parvovirus when I was a kid). They took their time to explain everything to me as it had been 13 years since I had owned a puppy. They microchipped him prior to me arriving and had me register his chip before I left, and provided a blanket that they had rubbed on his littermates (for the scent) in order to help aid his inevitable separation anxiety in the coming days. I was a bit disappointed with the customer service, so I deduct one star. With our previous breeder (13 years ago) she would send me weekly pictures and/or videos of our puppy leading up to him being 8 weeks old, so I figured this was standard practice. Unfortunately, Mary Anne didn't always have time to send me pictures. (To her credit, it was the end of the school year and they have school-aged children, so I get it... but when you're spending this much money and you're as excited as my kids were, it bummed us out.) I was also a bit frustrated that the puppy packet of information only included information and pedigree for the father. They said that they were waiting for the pedigree certificate from AKC on the mother and would forward it upon receipt. I emailed twice in the last month politely asking for it since the mother is not featured on their website, and she avoided the question, instead addressing the registration of my puppy with AKC. Don't get me wrong - the mother is registered and we successfully registered my puppy as purebred, but when I asked the second time for the mother's pedigree cert, she said I should request it from American Kennel Club. Um, NO, I am your client and YOU, the BREEDER, will send me the pedigree. I finally sent a frustrated email to them yesterday and received an email back with an attachment with the requested info within a few hours, but the email did not include any text (no "sorry for the delay" or "here you go!") It was just an attachment. Honestly, that frustrated me further, but whatever. We have our precious baby and we have info on both parents now! (And, shame on me for not insisting on the mother's info prior to purchase.) Other than that, we are incredibly happy with our baby and will recommend Sterling Labradors to our friends!

Given the reviews about deposits and refunds, I should share our recent experience…read more Our experience reflects the changes in policies and procedures regarding deposits and refunds. I contacted April in February 2020 because we are looking for a male mini petite Goldendoodle. Early on, she mentioned that deposits are non-refundable but transferrable to another litter as long as I would need. When the litter did not survive, April, immediately contacted us and returned our deposits very QUICKLY. I did not have to wait for her or bother her several times. I decided to let her keep my deposit for the next litter. She even offered a discount because of what happened. The wait was so worth it. We got a cute and adorable mini petite Goldendoodle! We were also the first pick, which was very detrimental to me. April offers the most reasonable pricing for a mini petite Goldendoodle. So many breeders charge more than $2000 for a mixed-breed puppy. We got ours for less than $2000, and he should mature 15lbs to 20lbs! Parents are also health tested. Her prices between solid colored doodles and parti/abstract doodles are the same - showing April does not breed for color and coat type. Responsible breeders will breed because of the parents' personality and temperament. Puppy selection can happen from 6 weeks old to pick up day. We selected our doodle during the pickup day, saving us a trip. Many breeders will let families choose base on pictures, and families will only judge a puppy by his/her coat color and coat type rather than selecting a puppy for his/her personality and temperament. Many dogs end up in the shelter because their character does not fit the family's lifestyle. Speaking of animal shelters, included in the puppy contract, in case a family cannot take care of the dog anymore, she'll take them back and help with rehoming. April was responsive to all my questions and gave me pictures regularly. Whenever I ask for videos, she sent me videos. I was looking for a calm and submissive puppy to pair with our laidback and submissive older doodle. April was very helpful in describing the puppies' personality. She knew which one was outgoing and which one is calm. I originally wanted a dark red doodle but judging by April's feedback, the red doodle, will not be a perfect fit for us. We selected a handsome, teddy bear looking mini Goldendoodle. He has an angelic face, blockhead, and a shiny curly coat. He is smart, calm, submissive but will readily play with our 55 lbs Goldendoodle. He is not scared of loud noises and slowly becoming outgoing and independent. He's also been sleeping through the night at eight weeks old! We love our little man so much. I am happy with how things turned out. Our older doodle loves him so much they have been playing along non-stop. They share the same play style! My husband is delighted because we are all happy. Thank you, April, for our handsome little guy.

I asked for a refund and she said no, it can transfer to another dog. However, the dog would be bigger. Plus it's not the dog we wanted. She had the dog listed on another website for $2500. When I confronted her she said that the extra $500 was for breeding rights. So even the $2000 price advertised is not that! She has been unfair, dishonest, and now won't give our family a refund. Her Facebook page has more reviews like this. I should have listened to the bad reviews!

Our first pup came home with us about three years ago--a male, purebred Shih Tzu with the best demeanor you could ask for. He's been a fantastic family dog and has brought us so much joy. This past November, right around Christmas, we welcomed our second puppy--a Havashu female--and she is beyond adorable. She has beautiful markings, an amazing temperament, and fits perfectly into our family. The two dogs get along wonderfully, which speaks volumes about the care and socialization they receive early on. Daryl and Gwen truly go above and beyond to make sure every person is happy with their puppy and that each pup is loved and cared for like a family member. When I arrived to pick her up, I was absolutely shocked to find that she had been completely shaved. This is not only negligent but demonstrates a serious lack of understanding of proper grooming for this breed. Shaving a Sheltie is harmful and can cause permanent coat damage, skin irritation, and increased risk of sunburn and heat stress. My dog is a beautiful, lively Sable Sheltie, and now she looks and feels nothing like herself. I am extremely upset and disappointed with the service I received. For reference, it is never appropriate to shave a Shetland Sheepdog. Their double coat serves to regulate temperature, protect from sun and moisture, and insulate against both heat and cold. Shaving removes this essential protection and can cause irreversible harm. I provided explicit instructions for a trim and brush-out only, so I am at a loss as to how this happened. I will be posting a detailed review with before and after photos. I have had her at this groomer before and it was done properly. I don't know if I can trust to bring her back again. If I could give negative stars I would.
