We had booked a private tour for his birthday to meet the rescue animals who call this beautiful place home. Yasmin met us at the entrance and, after swapping shoes for some solid boots, gave us a very honest, very real, and very important rundown of industrial agriculture. Now, I have to add, neither of us are vegan or even vegetarian, but Yasmin proved to be an actively non judgmental, compassionate host. She walked us through the grounds, addressing each animal by name, and was full of knowledge and insight! After the initial meet and greet, we were off! We hiked across the beautiful grounds and met tons of sheep (Jet loved my partner!) goats, and pigs; all of the animals roam freely, coming and going as they please. It was actually delightful how so many of the animals came up to say hi and hang out out of their own volition! We brought some grapes for the chickens and they LOVED them! But oh my god, the turkeys. Wow, just, two little friendly, fluffy orbs that floated around our party showing off while Yasmin gave us an informed and empathetic story about them. She did that at every habitat; letting us in, introducing us (by name!) to the boldest of the bunch, and explaining how they ended up at Animal Place. It was an entirely wonderful, enlightening experience. Also, fyi, turkeys are so soft. I cannot recommend this organization enough. 10/10, please give Conrad an extra treat for me!

Sally Welch, the owner and kitty-caretaker extraordinaire, was a great help in organizing Billy's adjustment to my home, allowing me to foster him first to make sure he got along well with my spazzy little female, Knuckles. Within a month, they began cuddling, and now they sandwich me at night and roll around like dervishes, play-fighting. Billy is such a butterball of love; I don't know what Knuckles and I would do without him! Sally does this work completely from the heart, and I am very glad to have supported this organization. Seriously consider this source for your new family member! (They have some bunnies, now, too!)

He's also visited the vet clinic I've been taking my fur babies to for several years & has a clean bill of health from them. Pros: - Very responsive to my phone calls. - Friendly! - Puppy was as promised, clean, healthy, & I was provided guidance on his current diet, vaccinations, etc. - 20% off a local pet store in Yuba City which did help me save some money on his 1st set of toys & training treats. Things to Consider: - Unable to visit the shelter itself. Not something that bothered me too much as I assumed their small animal rescue is a private residence & I instantly fell in love with Lincoln. Still something to think about though if you want the chance to play with your potential new pet at the rescue to see if you're a good fit for the pet. - Varying pricing according to how much I paid ($750) vs. what other reviews say. They do seem pricier than most rescues I've experienced overall. - My puppy wasn't fully vaccinated or neutered before adoption. Those are add'l costs you may have to consider if you're interested in a young pet from them, but they did promise a $75 refund if you provide proof of the spay/neuter surgery & request the refund. Would I recommend them? Yes, based on my experience.

Novalee replied to my email promptly and continued to answer all my questions over the next few days. She was extremely patient and friendly throughout the entire process and never made me feel incompetent or inferior because I had never owned a cat or kitten before. I really liked that Blossom did not have me fill out endless paperwork without meeting my potential adoptee and were more focused on ensuring the fit between pet and human was ideal before moving forward. Although they are located in Grass Valley, CA, they regularly bring the animals to Santa Rosa, CA to meet with interested parties. The only reason I did not end up adopting through Blossom is because a local adoption fell through and Blossom encouraged me to check the local adoption first before making the 3 hour drive to Grass Valley. I appreciated that they valued my time. If you want to adopt from a business that cares about BOTH the animals and the potential adopters, then reach out to Blossom.

We had to pull teeth to get any info on it. It was a stray. Got it home and it has so many obvious traumatic issues. The staff must have observed the issues (we did in one day). He was located in the agricultural land with water. I called the sheriff's after hours line and reported the poor dear. After I was finally able to get the lad in my car, I took him to the Yuba County Sheriff's Animal Care Services in Olivehurst. (Gut-wrenching; he is very traumatized and scared.) The dispatcher and officers were very kind, caring, and patient. Many, many thanks to them.

I love supporting this county shelter!…read more I recently adopted three mini piggies from them after I saw their post of 80+ pigs! We have a large farm and had to go rescue at least a few! Stephanie one of the officers was overjoyed that I was there to adopt some of these piggies! She really cared and loved them which warmed my heart! If you see this Stephanie, Eeyore is loving her life! She is the sweetest thing alive! I'll always be back if you have any more farm animals that need a forever farm!
