We were told our dog had a murmur but nothing more. When we ask Justin about it, he played it down by saying that lots of dogs have murmurs. He failed to disclose that the dog came from another rescue agency or that they had a cardiologist evaluate the dog. That doctor recommended medication and surgery. I did not know enough to ask to see the chart myself. We purchased the animal and the next day I read the cardiologist's report. There was no paperwork in the chart to show that Justin had ever given the dog the recommended medication for the month that he had the dog. The dog was also several pounds underweight which was significant for a small dog. Because of these factors, we were unwilling to exchange him for a different dog. We were told repeatedly during the purchase process that returns would not be accepted. Lastly, I reached out to the original rescue agency and found out that they sold the dog to Justin for $50 after vaccinating, chipping, neutering, and paying for an expensive cardiology consultation. Justin sold the dog to us for $350. The first rescue agency felt so bad that they contributed a sizable amount of money towards our dog's surgery. As far as I know, they do not do business with Justin any longer. If I could give a negative star rating, I would. read more

I have been searching for months for a companion for our 12 year old Poodle Mix. While I have yet to find a new family member, I have hope after speaking with Justin. I have had several negative experiences with other rescues and frankly was ready to give up. Justin took the time to talk to me and he treated me with kindness. Update: At the end of October 2018 I drove 5 hours to Auburn Ca and brought home our sweet little girl. She had been rescued by Justin a few days before. Justin took the time to go over everything with me, that she would need to be seen by a vet (this is customary BTW, for breeders and rescues), she would need to be spayed at a time recommended by the vet and he went over worming and proper diet for a puppy. He also gave me a puppy packet, her microchip and additional wormer. I've read a few reviews about people being unhappy that a PUPPY was not altered. Yes, there are some vets out there doing this to young puppies, it is 100% not advisable. You are asking for health issues altering an animal too young. Puppies require the hormones provided for proper growth development. Period. Also, who on earth would want a young puppy put under anesthetic? Someone who obviously doesn't care about that puppy. Second. Justin warns about Giardia, its very common in the areas he is rescuing puppies from. It just is, as well as worms.That's why he specifically tells people to have a fecal test done. These puppies are counting on us as the fosters to do our due diligence for them. Thirdly. We are fosters. It says it right in the paperwork that until we provide proof of spray/neuter that we do not own the animal. This is another way he is trying to protect the dogs. Look at it as a positive and get over the wish to OWN everything. These are living breathing beings that he is entrusting us to care for. Fourth: You may not like the way he runs HIS rescue, if you don't, move on. Your opinion is not necessary nor is it valid if you didnt even adopt from him. If you did and you complained about the above, then nothing will ever appease you and I suggest you get your next puppy from the Walmart parking lot and see how much better you fare. read more

Thinking this might just be something that is being fixed, I sent a message to the rescue inquiring because before I donate hundreds of dollars I want to make sure I can claim on my taxes. No response. This caused me to go further down the rabbit hole. I HAD NO IDEA THE SHADYV THINGS GOING ON! Be cautious! I reached out to family in the Foresthill area (which is not where the business is registered) and some friends that work with rescues and every single one of them told me to steer clear. They ALL know about him. How sad! I'm glad to see dogs going to loving homes, but this is all about the money. Follow the money. Nothing slanderous about that! If you are a 501c3 and your taxes are public record because YOU DON'T PAY TAXES, stop coming for people who are calling you out. Maybe fix your practices, invest more money into the dogs (like getting them the care they need), and only adopt out once you know they aren't sick/unhealthy. So he finally said yes, right at the time these darling little cockapoos came up for adoption; making us the world best parents according to our two kids. 1 Love has the cutest puppies and adult dogs. If it were up to me I would have gotten an adult dog but the kids wanted a puppy and I was thrilled to actually be able to live with my self by getting it from a rescue. We are in love with little Chester. While it may be a tiny bit more expensive than some rescue's, you get what you pay for. These are not mangy mutts. They are well cared for, flea treated, given first shots, neutered, groomed. They always seem to have puppies and often purebred animals. Justin and Tanya were very nice and obviously loved all these animals. The often have to drive hundreds of miles to pick up these dogs which can add to expense. All of this is explained on their web site so I challenge the negative reviewers to provide evidence of their slander. I recently adopted my Little guy Felix from them. He was very well taken care of and he even got groomed before I picked him up. We adopted 2 dogs: a 7-week cock-a-poo that was being re-adopted and a 4-yr-old multi-poo, both rescued from puppy mills. The puppy is super cute and in great shape. The mama 4-yr old is requiring some socializing but sooooo sweet and getting used ( and LOVING IT) being with humans more than dogs. Justin was instrumental in coaching us over the phone regarding his process, being honest about all the temperaments of dogs he had available and narrowed it down to the dog we eventually ended up adopting. Our mama dog was shampooed and trimmed with suggestions on how to further her grooming, care and vet treatments WITH a reimbursement of her being spayed and administered a rabies vaccine.
