I was very impressed and it was what I remembered last time when I visited here. The upstairs had cardio machines which was nice with TVs to see the morning news. The lower floor had weight lifting machines but I didn't get a chance to use them. There is a lot of space and rooms for yoga workout on both the 1st and 2nd floor. Plus, there is a smoothie bar across from the front lobby. Overall, I thought it was nice that the hotel provided this as a perk even though it already had a fitness center in their hotel.

Just make sure and bring clean shoes if you come in during staffed hours. This gym is well equipped and spacious. To my delight they had all the Nautilus machines needed for a normal workout including some equipment (such as a back extension and a pec deck) that some other locations do not have. The gym is very clean. The bathrooms were tidy - not overly posh - but certainly immaculate. It's obvious that the staff takes pride in maintaining this location. The only thing I thought was a little odd was the sign that greeted me coming in the door. In very large, almost menacing letters, the dry erase board insisted that members change into gym shoes from street shoes. I live in a Chevy van and there's just no extra room for a shoe tree. It's either the battered sneakers or a pair of muddy fishing boots. :) All joking aside, if Ottumwa was my home city, I'd happily join here. This gym scores a solid four-point-five or so... I can't give it five stars but four certainly seems to not be doing it justice, either. It's truly a great asset to Ottumwa and I am glad to have visited here... definitely one of the best in Iowa!

This is one of the top tier, finest Anytime Fitness locations you will find in Iowa. I've been to many while traveling around and camping. After working out last night (following a steakhouse trip to Montour) and liking this gym so much I ended up camping nearby just to be able to exercise again in the morning. This location rocks! They have a complete setup with Life Fitness cable equipment and Hammer Strength free weights. There are no "missing pieces". You can get a FULL cable workout and there are some redundant machines (IE. various lat pulldown exercises, multiple rowing options, etc.) To my surprise and delight, they also have a back extension machine - something my van camper's kinked up back muscles appreciate! The gym itself is extremely clean and the bathrooms are spotless. I love the extra touch - a dispenser in the shower for soap, shampoo, and conditioner. It demonstrates the commitment to the customers' comfort. If I lived in this area, joining would be an easy decision. This is a much bigger gym carefully and neatly fit into a compact space. What a cool find.
