They work for 1 hour and then take a 2 hour break. Very loud and obnoxious crew. When you can see and hear them hanging out more than the power tools or hammer and nails, that's a huge issue.They aren't cleaning up or picking up daily nails and debris everywhere. They even hang out for a hour after work goofing off. They really just don't seem to realize they are here to do a roof and more like they are here to hang out . Nobody seems to be managing anything. It's a free for all. Blocking driveways all day. Dumping gravel into neighbors walkways. Sitting on neighbors porches being extremely loud and obnoxious. You can have fun at work. But there is a level of consideration and professionalism you must carry. Not these guys! read more

We had a roof leak under our solar panels that the solar company was unable to locate. I contacted Sterling Roofing, and they were incredibly accommodating--fitting the repair into their busy schedule as well as coordinating with the solar company to have the panels removed. They quickly found the source of the leak and completed the repairs in just one day. The crew was professional, pleasant to work with, and meticulous with cleanup. The finished product looks great. While advised not to tear off my perfectly sound roof before an atmospheric river was set to drop 7 inches of rain in 2021. They assured us they knew how to protect our home. THEY DIDN'T ! They finished the roof but non of the details and walked away without a word about the damage caused by the rain coming into our home Months later we were sent a bill and also blocked from their email. We asked for their insurance info which they refused to give us. 2 years later they file a lawsuit against us and claim there was minimal damage. Many inspections, estimates, contractors and lawyer fees later $43,000 worth of damage and their insurance company wants to make a deal. Buyer Beware!!!! Jeremy from Sterling Roofing did the roof report for a property we purchased. We hired him to do the work. After 4 months and multiple attempts by us (he never initiated contact) to get onto his schedule, we hired someone else. Here is the timeline from when we signed the contract, taken directly from e-mails and text between us, there is no disputing the facts and timeline - Sept 6 - signed the contract, sent the $650 deposit, did not get any contact for 1 month; Oct 2 - asked Jeremy to get on his schedule, his response was "sometime in November"; Oct 30 - asked again to get on his schedule, his response was "next week or the following week"; Nov 18/19 - texted and emailed again for scheduling, Jeremy's response was "next week, if not then the week after". After 4 months we gave up on Sterling Roofing. Despite having a signed contract and deposit, Jeremey never initiated contact, never scheduled the work, we were always the ones who had to chase him down, multiple times, with no success. Jan 12 - hired another roofing company, requested a refund from Jeremy, his response "Unfortunately, you didn't follow up with us before trying to hire someone else ...the deposit is non-refundable ..." Really??? We were supposed to ask a 5th time to get onto the schedule, after 4 months of no contact and no results? Great business model, take the deposit, never do the work, never contact the client, never attempt to schedule it, then claim deposit is non-refundable!!! read more

Jeremy was a great communicator and provided us with a prompt and reasonable bid for our roof repair. We wanted to go with his company, but the job was for my elderly mother's house and she wanted to go with a roofer contact she got through a friend. Nice fellow. Came out to house quickly & provided bid promptly. Question the cost. Almost $10,000 over other bids received from both Sonoma & Santa Rosa roofers. He offered to cut by a few thousand. He may well do quality work. One roofing supply company I called sang his praises. But when the bid was so far above everyone else's, I had to go elsewhere. Jeremy was unprofessional and showed up at my home an hour before the appointment and without permission jumped on my roof to tell me when I called him that my roof was fine. Jeremy and his crew were super professional on our home project, which was a large steep A-Frame roof with new insulation and shingles, and several flat roofs. The work was very solid and on time, taking care of small extra projects that cropped up, and also addressed an unrelated chimney repair months later. This was not my first roof replacement. I had two others done on two other homes by other roofing companies. I used to do roofing work, and still keep up with the latest products and practices. This was the first time I can say I did not have any complaints at all about the job that was done. Sterling Roofing's work is up to the highest standards and competitively priced. We bought a 1960's vintage home in Sonoma in 2003 that had a gravel roof in need of replacement. Without going into details, the roofer we hired was a disaster. When he was done we had no less than 8 leaks in the new asphalt shingle roof which is sloped at 2/12, the minimum required by code for shingles. The "roofer" turned out to be unlicensed and had given us a license number owned by someone else so it was our bad for not checking more carefully. We hired another reputable roofer to fix the leaks and he did a good job for the most part but he was hard to get a hold of and there was one leak by a skylight that he could not seem to get resolved. After several attempts with him, we discovered Sterling Roofing and gave them a try. They are fantastic! The owner Jeremy is great to deal with. He returns our calls as soon as he can and he did his best to get his crew to attack our relatively small problem by fitting it in to his larger work schedule. Top kudos to his main man Dennis who really knows his stuff and who looks for ways to limit costs instead of simply recommending sweeping repairs that might not be necessary. I can't praise this company enough based on our experience. For the first time in 12 years our roof is completely leak-free as proven by the recent heavy rains. We are very grateful to Jeremy, Dennis, and their team. My only regret is that we didn't find Sterling sooner. read more

I bought a house last year and the inspection report said I needed broken roof tiles replaced and various other items including dry rot. Jeremy spent a lot of time finding tiles to match, and his crew, headed by Anthony, was very professional. Jeremy said that the dry rot was not a problem and would go no further since I'd had the roof fixed, although he could have charged me for it and I wouldn't have known the difference. Anthony made sure all downspouts worked and painted the pipes (vents?) on the roof to match. I know nothing about roofs and would not have thought to ask for that. They did a great job cleaning up, and the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend this company. read more

They just installed a new roof for my home in Glen Ellen and I was impressed by the professionalism, courtesy and quality of the work (and I pay attention to the details). Each day the crew arrived on time, worked quickly and took care to avoid damage to plants, deck etc. The job site was left clean at the end of each day and the new roof looks great. They also repaired some water damaged wood caused by the design of the old roof and put in place measures to prevent future damage.
