Every time I have visited the Coquitlam store I leave frustrated and shocked at the low level of customer service this store offers. They completely ignore you and if you ask a question or request a size it feels as if you are imposing on them. Big "sighs". "No we don't have any sizes "( before they even look) "it's out of season for these", are just some of the things I've heard! Sad situation and it's coming from the management as I asked the guy there one day if he was the manager, not surprising it was!

Bare walls and no trendy decor. This ain't Holt Renfrew. The shoe selection isn't the world's largest, but it's somewhat decent. They seem to carry mostly runners, though there's a bit of everything. I found what I was looking for, in the style and colour I wanted, at a good price. Sometimes 2 similar pairs of shoes will have 2 different discount rates. A bit of negotiation helps here. I could never find anything in the men's section for my husband and it took a lot of time to find anything I wanted. The girl at the fitting rooms had a bit of an attitude with everyone. The cashier also didn't seem too happy to be there. While I was waiting in the LONG line to pay, i opened up a powder compact I was planning to buy. At first, I thought it was just missing the powder puff. Then when I opened it up to make sure it hadn't been used, I saw that it was completely empty. I told the cashier I didn't want it, and showed her the problem so it wouldn't be put back on the shelf like that - and she gave me a look like I took the powder puff- to which I burst out laughing ! She wasn't impressed - neither was I ! I'll skip this location - plenty more to choose from!

There was some language barrier as my guests were from India, which I tried to explained to the sales lady as I could tell she was getting impatient with them. As I explained it, she became more upset and said things like "we are in canada, not India", and made us feel like she was doing us a favour by just doing her job. I had to walk away because I was getting upset at the complete lack of civility let alone customer service. I appreciate that we all get impatient or are off some days, but to be snarky with customers isn't right. Fortunately my out of country friends are the easiest and nicest of people, they didn't even notice her behaviour and pleasantly thanked her for her help. Personally I've never seen such poor customer service. Over the years we've sent a lot of business to this store, sending our out of town guests here for sandals but not so sure anymore.

I went through treatment which brought me to February I wore the Birkenstocks sandals for one month out of 2019 I bought the cork renew and used it diligently as I was told I would have a year warranty if I bought the cork renew. I didn't go in water or miss treat the sandals when June opened to sunshine I started wearing the sandals again, Reapplying the cork renew before use. On both sandals they started breaking when I took them back in August I was told I was three weeks past the year warranty date. I explained I had so much on my mind from the cancer as well as the pandemic I was afraid to come into the malls being more susceptible to covid 19. I talked to two employees there that told me the manager would be in the next day and that they couldn't do anything. When I talk to the manager she said Birkenstocks aren't a very good sandal and proceeded to show me a white sandal and was pulling at the seams and look at the yellowing in there and these are going to fall apart. She said that her cork sandals all fell apart like that as well and told me to buy this other brand that is a higher end sandals than Birkenstock. She said she couldn't do anything for me. I wrote to SoftMoc customer service which wrote back asking for information on size and date of purchase they then sent me an email stating that it was up to the store representative meeting the manager of the Guilford mall store to see whether the shoe was defective. Of course she said it wasn't defective and they were not going to stand behind the warranty. The customer service rep said they could not see the sandal so they can't make that decision. I offered to take a picture and send it to them which they intern declined and told me to take the sandal to another store and have them determine whether or not it's a defect. I really doubt another employee from another store will say this is a shoe defect if they don't know the scenario that the shoe was only worn for maybe three months out of the entire year and it was already breaking down. SoftMoc has crappy customer service and poor quality shoes I would not recommend anybody to go there in fact, When looking them up On the better business Bureau site they are not accredited. Five thumbs down to poor customer service and overpriced poorly made shoes

If you're expecting (and missing) their bi-annual family and friends warehouse sale, which was last held at Brentwood Mall with ALL shoes going for $39.99 each, you'll be disappointed since this is definitely more like a Ronsons Rack experience. But nevermind that cos we're just happy they still have a presence ^_^
