I can't begin to express what a great experience it was working with Steve, Recreation Supervisor and the staff on site the day of the celebration. The sound system worked perfectly for the video I put together with music. I was nervous but the young man working there as facility attendant helped me set it up. He was so helpful and sweet. He could only handle 3 hours of preschool, but after 7 hours of camp doodles, he doesn't want to come home! Every week is another theme, and every day is a mix of structured play and free choice time. Because they take over the entire Strawberry Point School, they have room to stretch out and have quiet play, art, nature hikes, relay races, hoola hoops (I picked one up and was super excited that I could still do it), and pretty much anything your camper can imagine. By the end of the first week, my son was a master at camp songs and leading the counselors in a round of "Boom Chicka Boom" (he's only 5). What do I think is the best part of Camp Doodles? The staff is nearly 50/50 men and women. Campers benefit from having super cool, big hearted older boys around, as well as the usual lovable girls. I have found the other campers to be a wonderful mix of ethnicities, economic backgrounds, and energy levels yet, they all gel perfectly and create a camp where every kid is a star!
