Andrew's Camp is absolutely fantastic! My daughter had such an amazing time here. She came home every day excited to show me what she made and these weren't your typical coloring or watercolor projects. They did real, supply-intensive arts and crafts that were so creative and fun. The staff clearly put a lot of thought and effort into planning activities that keep kids engaged, happy, and proud of what they create. It's rare to find a camp that offers this level of hands-on, imaginative experience. read more

My 5 year old daughter did a half day camp at the Andrew's Camps facilities in Corte Madera with her preschool friends and it was such a wonderful experience. The counselors were engaging, attentive, and energetic - they made the whole day really fun and special for the kids. The morning was filled with bounce house inflatables, organized games, a zip line, rock climbing, and more. My daughter asked to "stay longer" and go back again the next day. Every kid is different. Some really benefit and thrive in an environment that is quiet and structured, while others do great in chaos-where they can burn off their energy and let go; especially if they have been stuck in a quiet, structured environment at school all day. While this after school camp is chaotic and loud and messy, it allows kids to let go and be themselves. And if they need a quiet space to do homework, it is provided in the "homework room" Another huge plus is that Andrews camps has thought of everything as far as making it easy, convenient and affordable for working parents, which is a rare find in Marin (what's up with some camps only offering 9am-3pm hours with no extended care? Not really a solution for working parents!) They offer shuttles that will pick up your kid from school, great hours that work for pretty much any family (7:00pm latest pick up time) and will even escort your kid to gymnastics class next door at The Cave if they are enrolled. They have something for every kid, computer learning games, legos, arts and crafts, trampoline, slide, dance parties and karaoke. The staff are very nice and helpful. Their pricing is SUPER reasonable and flexible (you can sign up for unlimited or pay hourly, whichever makes the most sense for your schedule) I am very happy that we found Andrews Camps, my daughter loves it and it has relieved a ton of stress for our working parent household. read more

We recently hosted our daughter's 10th birthday party at Andrews camp and had the best experience! The two counselors were so enthusiastic and wonderful with the children. I was having fun and giggling just watching them. Most importantly, all of the kids had such a great time and it was really easy for me a as a parent as all I had to do was order the pizza and cake and they took care of everything else. It also felt super Covid safe as kids wore their masks the whole time, ate outside and one whole side of the building was open during the activities. Have known Andrew for many years since his early days hosting kids birthday parties in San Rafael and Marin. I met him more than 10 years ago when he did my kid Charlie's 5th birthday party. We have recently had the chance to visit his beautiful property up at Clark Creek in Lassen Co near Burney Falls. He always creates the most positive and fun interactive camps, activities and scheduled events, while promoting the chance to have adventures, get involved and participate with friends. Everything from water fall hikes to fishing, boating, swimming, tubing, archery and more. All of his activities and camps are simply a great time out in the great outdoors. My daughter went to camp during the Pandemic, and I am so impressed at how the staff handled everything! They were great, they were safe, and really as safe as one can be under the circumstances, but my daughter explained how things were structured, and I felt super confident in the facility and staff. On top of all that, they still maintained a fun environment for the kids, and my daughter came home happy and tired every day...as she should! I love this camp for my kids. My kids look forward to being out of school to go to Andrews Camps. They have great hours for busy parents and are so flexible and accommodating. My daughter has been at Andrews Camp for the last 7+ weeks during this weird time in all of our lives. She's had so much fun with the variety of activities they offer. The counselors are great and Olivia runs drop off and pick up like a well oiled machine. We've been thrilled for our daughter to have this experience. I was so horrified at what I witnessed when I picked my children up from a day camp experience at "Andrews Camps" that I went back to his website to carefully review his qualifications. Unfortunately, having been a professional baseball player adds up to nil, and believing that children should have "freedom to explore" is a philosophy which can be very open-ended indeed. Sure, the kids love running hog-wild and the adults present kindly enough when signing kids in and out, but to be perfectly honest, the place was a complete mad-house. Giving kids free reign and jacking them up with over-stimulation and not enough supervision is evidence of a lack of any understanding of child development and "age-appropriate" activities (which the website claims to offer). This raises the question: at which age is it appropriate for children to be spending their day playing shooting games with rifle-type guns which actually discharge some kind of "bullet/material" requiring the children to wear goggles so that they do not receive injury to the eyes? Answer: This is NEVER appropriate. There are so many simple, fundamental things our children need to be learning about human interactions and treating each other kindly that pointing, shooting, and "killing" simply don't convey. And for this to not only be condoned, but encouraged is disgraceful. I arrived upon a scene where mobs of children were manically running around in a darkened room; the ambience was "black-lighting" with flashing colored lights and loud music, much like a disco tech, and it was in here where kids were playing their "shooting" games. Needless to say, the children I witnessed emerging from this room were in an altered, disconnected state. Reportedly, the adult supervision consisted of the adult telling them when it was time to "change sides" (i.e." which side of the room to shoot from.) Another favored game impressionable youngsters have the freedom to violently experience at this camp involves guns that shoot lasers with the object being to shoot target lights on the "other" team's (enemie's) guns. Running in the dark, screaming, shooting toy guns that discharge objects along with gun sounds, trying to "kill" other children...... good wholesome play to entertain the kids for a day, eh? Is this reprehensible "recreation" continuing because parents are ok with it? Or is it because it's mostly unaware nannies picking the children up at the end of the day? Additionally, the website claims to have "closely-monitored use" of video games which simply is not the case. An entire room is allocated for the video games, and another room just for computers; even the art room has a tv on in it. My boys reported that "teachers" did not come "up there" very much. As Andrew promises, the children are free...... to zone out. Finally, as mentioned in other reviews, there is the issue of live animals (bunnies, mice, and at least one turtle) which are "up for grabs" and the treatment of which is also largely unsupervised. It was a mistake that I allowed this experience to happen once, permitting my kids to attend with their friends on a day off from school. I will never put them in the care of this inappropriate environment again and advise all conscientious parents to heed caution. read more

Another parent and I recently held a party for my son theirs and it was so great that when I left I looked at the other mom and said I am going to go home and write a review on yelp! You call them and tell them what theme party your child is interested in and they customize the games towards that theme. Their employee Jonathan who ran our party was fabulous with the kids. He kept them thoroughly entertained and even had the slightly wild ones under control. When the kids needed to stop for water breaks or cake, they were anxious to get back downstairs to the games and fun! Our son is just between preschool and kinder. We tried a few camps this summer to get him comfortable with new settings and a diverse age band of kids. These were really hard growth experiences for my little guy. Andrews Camp was the breakthrough camp for us. They were so kind - so patient - and pulled him into their community with such love. He was on tears on Monday and by Friday he was all smiles and asked when he could go back. It was an amazing transformation. I can't recommend this camp enough. I am so grateful for all their effort. I have 3 boys there and they LOVE it. The counselors are fun and interactive, the facilities are clean with lots of activities for the kids, and Andrew is seemingly loved by all of the kids. This is an amazing place to have a Birthday Party! We had the best experience. The stuff was super helpful, they greeted us as soon as we parked, helped to get the party stuff from the car and have it all set up. They kept kids busy and happy for hours with fun exercises, games and dancing. There was no rush at all, they have plenty of time for every party. We had done many events before but this is the best experience. Everyone had a great time and some of the guests said they will use this place as well. Thank you so much!!!! read more

Well I guess there are people that will find a reason to be pissed and give a one star to this amazing camp. Both my kids have grown up going to this camp and they both have played with the rabbits. (No rabbits were hurt in the writing of this review.) Also, both of my kids love the turtles and after 10 years, no salmonella. It's not a regimented, structured camp, but that kind of camp would not work for my kids. My son has ADHD and can't sit still to save his life. This place has been a god send for him, allowing him the freedom to be himself. Also, my daughter who does not have ADHD and who would do well in a structured, highly supervised camp, loves it as well. 5 stars all the way!! read more

Our daughter absolutely LOVES Andrews Camp! There are a lot of options for our daughter to do, depending on her mood. Most days she has a lot of energy to burn off, so she darts from one fun activity to the other, and other days if she's feeling mellow she'll take it easy and chill in a quiet room and read a book, make crafts, or plays with turtles! While my son had a good time at a birthday party he attended today, I was very unhappy to see live animals being used as part of the entertainment with improper supervision. There was a woman who seemed to be a parent sitting in the middle of a pen containing rabbits while children were running around chasing them and picking them up without supporting their hind ends (this can cause rabbits to break their own backs by kicking). They were also attempting to put them in a tree. I tried to explain this to the parent but she looked annoyed. I realize that not all parents care about animals or teaching empathy, but there were no staff in sight to protect the rabbits. There were also turtles and a tortoise on site. I saw children reaching in the turtle tank and touching them without washing their hands afterward. This is problematic because reptiles carry salmonella. I will be discussing what I observed with the humane society tomorrow. read more

I just picked up 2 girls from the Middle school retreat away camp at Lake Sonoma...they were in tears...they were SO sad they had to come home!!! The stories are hilarious and they can't stop talking about it. I felt very comfortable sending them on Monday after meeting Andrew and staff - I wish they'd do an adult camp, they are so fun!!! The girls said they have more memories from this one week than from their entire 12 years. Great fun and great new friends :). I have a son (on the spectrum) there and he LOVES it too. The staff is amazing - I could list them all, Andrew, Chris, Jonathan, Olivia, Christian... Ouch if I am missing anyone!!!! My biggest issue is getting him to leave without fussing - and the staff helps him with that transition too! They are kind, caring, and do allow the kids, "freedom to explore". After school, my son is not put into an extended school day. He gets to run, and play, and use his imagination. I agree with Jonathan P. Those reviews do not make sense to me. If you are there for even a little bit - you will realize that the staff know every child's name.... shoes, jacket, etc ... they came with...Amazing! I had my son's birthday party there ***Christian*** aka Panda, and crew were INCREDIBLE! The kids had such a great time! The adults did too and were commenting on the fact that Christian knew every child's names in a matter of moments. Everyone said it was the best kids party they had ever been to - and it was SOO easy on us! As a former educator - - My son has just learned so much about being a part of a healthy active kind and caring community - My pediatrician commented this week on the significant positive change in his reception to people around him...I am just sorry it took me so long to find this for him!!!! read more

I am shocked to see people bad mouthing Andrews Camp. My son has been an attendee at Andrews for over 5 years. They have been so great with him. He attended the Summer Day Camps, the Adventure Camps, Birthday Parties and the Overnight Camps for many years. He was well supervised, learned respect and manners and most of all, had fun. Both Andrew and Jonathan (Cheesecake) have been great mentors for my son. He is currently a CIT and always wants to make sure you child has same great experience he had as an attendee. Please don't let a couple of mean spirited reviews dissuade you from a great camp experience for your child. read more
