I can't say I've ever seen the show, but if it helped make Robin Williams a household name I'm already a fan. We parked across the street, walked up, grabbed our photos, and they enjoyed recalling their favorite moments from the show. Really you can only take pictures outside of the house, but the Mork and Mindy House is a fun stop for those who have a special place in their heart for the show. "Nanu nanu"

Noticeable differences are the exterior color, additional trim around the porch, the huge trees, and the white fence. There was someone working in the yard when I came to check out the house, so I did my best to not be much of a nuisance. I only took 3 pictures! I was not living in the U.S. when the first 2 seasons aired. I watched the reruns and the new episodes as they came out. I enjoyed this quirky show! This house was built in 1883. For the show, it was both Mindy's apartment (upstairs) and Mr. Franklin Bickley's Apartment (ground floor). Mork moved into the attic. Filming of the interior was shot at the Paramount Studios Lot. The exterior of this house was also used for "Perfect Strangers" & "Family Matters". Facts I found about this property: 7 bedrooms 4 bathrooms 3,818 sq ft of floor space has a basement has a detached garage In 1974, it was sold for $80,000 Zillow estimate today is $3,172,500 This house is "A City of Boulder Landmark" If you liked Mork & Mindy or just seeing a gorgeous house, drop by and take a look! The tour was very interesting and living in Colorado for 20+ years, I've always seen the red building driving by Idaho Springs but never thought they had tours available to check out. We panned for gold at the end and that was very fun to learn how to do that. All in all I'd recommend to support local and Idaho Springs to come check them out. The tour is not handicap friendly so if you have a wheel chair it would not be ideal to walk through the mill. Hard hat is for show with the tunnel visit but it was def a fun experience with photo opportunity.

The…read moreguided tour takes you deep into Colorado's gold mining history and really brings the story of the miners to life. We purchased our tickets on site at the tour location. Tours times fill up quickly and you can also book tours online. You start the tour by watching a video that gives you a history of the tunnel and mill. The Argo Mill and Tunnel became an international center of milling and tunneling innovation and served for many gold mines in Colorado. Construction of the Argo Tunnel began in 1893 and lasted 10 years until it reached Central City 4.2 miles away. The Argo Mill was a state of the art facility providing the latest technological advancements in milling and situated at the mouth of the mighty tunnel. On January 19th, 1943, a catastrophic flood in the tunnel caused the Argo Mill and Tunnel to cease operations. Then we loaded on a shuttle and took a short ride to the mouth of the Argo Tunnel. We start by picking up safety equipment including a helmet. Walking through the tunnel itself is like going back in time, it's cool, damp, and feels like stepping into another era. Then we moved to the Mill itself that had many original equipment items still on site. Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and shared so many interesting details about how the mine operated, the hardships miners faced, and how important the Argo was to Colorado's development. The guide explained each piece of machinery and the purpose along with an explanation for any missing equipment. You can tell he is passionate about preserving the history. The museum area is well done and adds great context after the tour. After the tour, perused the gift shop and got some great souvineers for 50% off! Highly recommend for families, visitors, or anyone looking to learn something new while exploring the mountains. It's a perfect stop if you're passing through Idaho Springs, especially if you enjoy history, geology, or unique local experiences.

Who do we thank for these tunnels that aren't just life-saving, but are also fuel-saving,…read moretime-saving, and sanity-saving? They are most commonly called the Eisenhower Tunnels (after U.S. president Dwight D. Eisenhower who was influential in the expansion of the Interstate Highway System), but more credit should go to Colorado politician Edwin C. Johnson and the thousands that labored in the 1970s to bore, pave, and light the pair of tunnels. When the tunnels opened for I-70 traffic in 1973 (Westbound) and 1979 (Eastbound), they were the highest elevation vehicular tunnels in the world maxing out at 11,548 feet above sea level. Traffic can back up terribly on the highway when there's an accident or a vehicle too tall approaches the tunnels, but we had no problems when we drove through heading westward from Denver towards Breckinridge. People that hate these tunnels need some perspective on how impossible and challenging travel was across the Continental Divide in winter months before their existence. Nowadays, we simply drive under the Continental Divide with two well-lit lanes of traffic going west in one tunnel and east in the other. Kudos to those that envisioned, championed, built, retro-fitted, and maintain the tunnels to help save our fuel, time, and sanity.

This is a nice little stop located within the shops of Idaho Springs main street. The Underhill…read moreMuseum chronicles the history of Idaho Springs as a mining town, with relevant exhibits. There is nothing terribly exciting and it will keep you occupied maybe 15-30 minutes (it is a very small place), but there are a few items worth looking at. Two things really stuck out at me. They have a few vaults/safes including one that you can walk in, along with a series of rocks and minerals that you could show to your children. They also sell historical photos of Idaho Springs and a few other similar pictures. The prices were not terribly expensive from what I recall -- although, there were a few pricier options. Some people may wonder why I gave this place such a good rating. That is because its free. They ask for a $2 donation, and I can respect this miniature museum for what it is. If you're strolling through, its worth a few minutes of your time.

Recently visited Loveland Pass on our way back from Breckenridge. We drove to the top instead of…read morehiking. On the way up, we saw some light snow flurries, and by the time we reached the top, it was actively snowing. The scenery is absolutely stunning definitely a must-see if you're in the area. Just a heads-up: it can get icy and slippery, so be careful while walking around. Overall, it's a beautiful spot and perfect for enjoying the snowy mountain views! Plus it's free!

The shops were all very similar and touristy. The selection of restaurants wasn't too exciting either. Parking was challenging in the area. There was some free parking and some paid lots, but all options were full. I stopped by the Visitor's Center as well. Half the lot was reserved so parking here was a challenge also. They could use some *something* to make it more of an experience and a welcome to the town. Everyone was nice, but it felt empty and the amount of fliers for things felt too sell-y. I wanted to enjoy Golden so much, but it really felt like a tourist trap to me.

We went for a fall…read morefest and there were fun family oriented activities including vendors, food trucks, wagon rides, the Cheyenne mobile zoo, marshmallow roasting and even a mini pumpkin patch. I was glad we brought our wagon to haul the pumpkins home (and our daughter around). Parking for the event is a little bit of a trek but they offered rides to those in need via golf cart. Considering this event is free, put on by the city of Lone Tree, I was super impressed! It wasn't too busy/crowded and food and pumpkin prices were reasonable while all else was free! I highly recommend Schweiger Ranch for an event and/or a visit outside of an event.

Went for their Austrian Christmas event. Parking is at the light rail station across the street and…read morethey have golf carts to ferry you across the road if you want to ride. I chose to because it's fun and the path down to the ranch is muddy. He walked. I headed to the line for horse carriage rides. They had two carriages and took 10 people each time. So fun! I love horse carriages. The horses are gorgeous. It was so fun. Then we walked around the vendors. And ended up at the handmade bratwurst sandwich stand. I don't eat a lot of meat but the elk brats were delicious. So lean and tasty. And they had well done ones in addition to the regular ones. Some sauerkraut, spicy mustard and ketchup. It was cold but we sat at an outdoor table and ate our lunch. Visited the reindeer pen. Adorable. They have children's crafts and you can visit the historical buildings and see the goats. An enclosed tent where performers are and also Santa ! It's not a large event but made me happy to finally have a carriage ride for the holidays. I tipped the carriage rides company - they take cash or Venmo. And the vendors take cash or Venmo as well.
