The best part was the Welcome To Golden sign and the mountains. Otherwise, Golden is a pass for me. The main strip of the historic downtown has some shops and restaurants. The shops were all very similar and touristy. The selection of restaurants wasn't too exciting either. Parking was challenging in the area. There was some free parking and some paid lots, but all options were full. I stopped by the Visitor's Center as well. Half the lot was reserved so parking here was a challenge also. They could use some *something* to make it more of an experience and a welcome to the town. Everyone was nice, but it felt empty and the amount of fliers for things felt too sell-y. I wanted to enjoy Golden so much, but it really felt like a tourist trap to me. read more

We spent a lovely day exploring Historic Downtown Golden and absolutely loved it--especially my 4-year-old! The river walk is beautiful, peaceful, and easy for little legs to enjoy. There were ducks, bridges, and plenty of spots to stop and take in the views. It felt safe, clean, and very family-friendly. We also had the best time wandering in and out of all the cute little shops. There's such a nice mix--gifts, local art, books, snacks, and more. Everyone we met was welcoming and kind, and there's a real small-town charm here that's hard to beat. Highly recommend for a relaxing stroll, shopping, and just soaking up that mountain town feel. We'll definitely be back--next time with snacks for the ducks! read more

Golden is such a cute city! We only spent a little time here, but the downtown area is definitely bustling and gives the vibes of a preserved wild wild west kind of town where people came from all over to mine for gold! There's this massive Welcome to Golden sign that stretches across the main street of the downtown that is impossible to miss, and every year they have this wonderful festival in the city where golden retrievers from all over come and gather here! With traditions like this, you just know this town is wholesome! read more

No trip to visit our son in Arvada, Colorado is ever complete without a visit to Historic Downtown Golden. This is the quintessential Western town. The visitor's center is a great place to start. Stafffed with very friednly and helful volunteers - it also has great literature on local attractions. My wife loves to visit and browse the shops; there is a nice variety of restaurants catering to all tastes. A great place to spend the afternoon (or the whole day). read more

Sweet. Close enough to the airport for a lengthy layover visit but not too far in the mountains to require a day trip. Of course you have Coor's Brewing. Loads of great restaurants, bars, and shops to see. Plus the rafting! Don't forget numerous sweet hikes paired with a great fire of Denver and the foothills. School of Mines is worth a visit to see the campus and again the gorgeous view of Denver. Certainly a lot to do and see not including the central downtown or old town grid mostly geared towards tourism. Lots of parking but depending on the time of day or year an easy spot is tough. Golden does a great job of making signage clear for those unfamiliar. Best to park off the main drag and have a nice stroll into town. Love to check things out mid week after a hike or early on a Saturday before parking and stores get overly crowded with visitors. Don't forget to see the Colorado Railroad Museum while you're in the area. It's a three minute drive from downtown directly off the highway! read more

Golden is a small town near Denver. It's a former mining/industrial town; it's now something of a tourist destination. The downtown area has many restaurants and shops. The Coors brewery is here. Clear Creek runs through Golden. There are several hiking trails nearby. read more

An awesome little downtown for an afternoon stroll with all the obligatory tourist shops; candy stores, tee-shirt shops, restaurants, bars.... Something for everyone so expect crowded sidewalks and parking lots. make sure you spend a little time either getting into or at least watching other get into the rapids of Clear Creek that runs right through downtown. A very peaceful respite from the commercial areas a block away. read more

Historic Downtown Golden was a real treat to walk through. The main hub is centered around Washington Street. There were plenty of historical looking buildings to take in, small shops to peruse, and plenty of restaurants available. The entrance to downtown is a stone's throw away from the Coors Brewery. On Washington Ave. and 11th St., there was a bridge with an overlook of Clear Creek. You could see kayakers and intertubers cruising down the creek from this vantage point. I thought it was super cool that there was a slide people could use to drop in directly into the creek. Historic Downtown Golden also houses a few museums and its own city brewery. If you're making a trip to the Coors brewery, be sure to check out downtown Golden! RANDOM FACT: Golden has a firm anti-smoking and ant-vaping stance, and there's plenty of signs around town advertising this. This is pretty much a smoke-free environment. Beautiful scenery, the ambiance was perfect with the park. Food was fantastic. Service workers and waiters were friendly.

Nice historical place. If you are in the area stop by. Sad that didn't have alot of time. Really cozy place.

My daughter and I had an extended stay this winter at the park. I can not say enough good things about this park, it's employees, or location. The sites are level and had plenty of room for my 38 ft 5th wheel with slides. The facilities are always clean and kept in good order. The laundry room is fairly priced and open 24 hrs. It's on a very busy local walking/bike path next to Clear Creek were everyone loves to walk their dog. read more

Downtown Golden is a great place to visit, plenty to do and see no matter what time of day or time of the year you come. in the summer they have fun events lined up in the nearby parks and fireworks on the forth of July, Buffalo bill days in the fall and the whole town is festively decorated with plenty of fun Christmas events on the winter. Plenty of bike/walking/hiking trails and other fun things to do. Many shops, restaurants and cultural things to visit like museums and other unique attractions. read more
