I carried the rug in and had to wait awhile to be acknowledged so that wasn't a good start. The store looked to be a beautiful showroom with tons of beautiful rugs on display. A guy finally came over and offered to measure the rug for me. While he was doing that the manager approached so I explained that I needed the rug cleaned, but wanted an estimate because if the cost of cleaning was more than the value of the rug, I wouldn't have it cleaned. He totaled the cost according to the measurements and quoted me a number. I responded that I would just wait since the rug was less expensive than the cost to clean it. He then turned away from me, said, "Roll it up for her" to the worker and walked away. I yelled a thank you at him even though he was so rude. I think now even if I need a rug cleaned in the future, I will go somewhere else.

I had asked them for 12 sheets of luan and they needed to be in good shape because I was using them on an exposed ceiling. The manager came over and I told him I needed them undamaged and he look at me with a very disrespectful stare and said that I was funny.... He was very ignorant and wasn't happy the staff were helping me. I checked over the luan that they pulled for me and a few were damaged and I didn't want to waste time having them put them back and get other ones so I told him I didn't want them and he can put them back. I just went to Home Depot and got the same thing in pristine condition for $0.50 more per sheet. They are overpriced there and management is horrible so goto another location or the Loading Dock in Baltimore. I buy stuff there and management is helpful and not ignorant.... He should be fired and never work in customer service or management of any type.... I hope he reads this. I am sure all of the staff know who I am talking about and they share my comment. The owner comes off as rather sleazy referring to his operation as the "shit show" and boasts about how he's going to give you a "shit show price". I gave this gentleman my business and now have deep regret as I've learned I could have got more from other providers had I taken the time to get further pricing. If you have metals you want to sell please do the homework and get several quotes. I would not recommend The American Bullion Center.

This place was an amazing find that we were lucky enough to stumble into on an afternoon in Fells…read morePoint. It's a little bit off the main drag, on the much quieter Aliceanna Street. From the window, the shop looked like it had an eclectic mix of great stuff -- we were not disappointed. When we first walked in I spotted a set of porcelain figures, all hand painted 1950s Japanese, marked...six bucks. My partner nabbed a full set of original Italian 1960s espresso cups/saucers -- ten bucks. Probably the very best find was a 1940s desk lamp with its original shade, marked twenty but sold to us (no negotiation necessary) for ten. The buying did not stop there. We were immediately enchanted by the shop's owner and curator, Vicky, who is an absolutely delightful lady and seems to know everyone who comes through the door. She is mistress to at least three very friendly cats who weave their way across the shelves, miraculously not breaking anything! Zach, an orange tabby, will suddenly appear wherever you are, and the stately grey LuLu minds the door. Vicky is an instructor at the Potters Guild of Baltimore, and her shop also features great pieces by local potters and MICA faculty, all (again) at incredibly reasonable prices. The back of the shop has examples of Vicky's own work, which is pretty amazing. Saratoga Trunk is just open on weekends, noon-6pm. Definitely the highlight of our day.
