So I saw a commercial over the Christmas season for greenmount jewelry that advertised them as having a jeweler on site and I took a tri-color chain to have cut into two separate bracelets for my granddaughter's they charged me $ 150.00 for the service when I picked it up and got home it was not made from the chain I bought in but some other cheap chain. The staff is very friendly and put a new battery in for me free of charge, and they also did a stellar job replacing the stones in my grandmother's ring (at a very reasonable price!). One had gone missing years ago and I just never got around to having it fixed. They also polished the very well-worn center stone and it could not look any better! As far as pawn shops go, this is the least depressing one I've been to yet! Watch battery replacements were 10 bucks each - cheap! Also, they were done in ~5 minutes. Of course in that time, I heard two separate tales of woe from customers asking for extensions on their hock, or a little more time. What blew me away was how considerate the sales associates were. I go to Greenmount Loan and Jewelry for watch battery replacements, new watch bands and to browse their latest used DVDs ($4 each I think). It is super cheap for minor watch fixes and the staff are extremely nice. (Does anyone still wear a watch these days?) The other day I went in because the glass of my watch popped off (yes, the watch is a little cheap), but they glued it on very carefully and without charge. The guy just said, "Go Ravens!" ;) Also, they get have video cameras, point and shoot cameras, amps and guitars. Of course, they have Rolexes, diamond rings, and TVs as well. If you are looking for quality jewelry repair, unfortunately this is not the best place to go. A gold chain necklace was taken to be repaired and essentially the work looks like it was soldered together. Poor quality and this leads me to believe the expertise on repairing is very low. I don't recommend for jevewrly repair. Very nice people but the work produced was very poor. read more

Greenmount Loan and Jewelry is truly one of Baltimore's best kept secrets, I'd like to share a small story about myself and the guys at Greenmount. About a year ago I went through an ugly divorce, I was ready to move on with my life. First things first I had to sell my old jewelry my ex had givin me, I had no idea where to go, I tryed Jared, Smyth, Kays, and diamond exchange. Most of those places the people where no so friendly and treated me like I was not an important customer, with the exception of Smyth the service was great the offer on my jewelry however was like all of the before mentioned places, less then stellar. I was feeling frustrated and like I was being ripped off, then I saw greenmount loans commercial, nice car, fancy jet and a funny talking guy talking about pawn shops. Eureka! A pawn shop! So my journey started over, I went to ten different pawn shops before greenmount to just judge what their offer would be. From the moment I walk in I knew I was in the right place, it was clean, bright, busy, all of the employees were friendly, funny and seemed very genuine. The gentleman, Zach helped me, explained the cost of gold and diamonds and broke down how my ex and I over paid for the jewelry that I bought from a big box store, then offered me more then the previous 15 places I went. I sold it to them and before I left I looked around at their jewelry. The selection was huge and I compared prices from some of the previous stores and they are the real deal. Fast forward a year, I am in a better place personally and it was time to buy new jewelry =). As stubborn as I am I couldn't just go back, I wanted to go price what I wanted so I went back to all of the stores that were friendly to me from before. And again, my last stop was the best stop. I walk in last week, the same thing, busy, clean, and the same friendly staff. This shop is taking advantage of people beyond reason even for a pawn shop. These jokers offered half what a reputable shop offered the same day. I could not be more happy with my experience!! The employees were extremely professional yet also friendly. I took my watch in for a battery change and was immediately greeted with a warm welcome from the employees. Luckily they were able to change my battery on the spot and even offered me and my boyfriend bottles of water while we waited. When the man changing my batter gave my watch back he was kind of nervous because it had a large scratch on the face to which I replied that I brought it in with the scratch already there.
