I saw Dr. Weinstein for the first time after seeing two other allergists and two pulmonologists and I'm so happy I did! He was friendly, kind and extremely knowledgeable! He thinks I am taking too much medication. He is running some tests to make sure that I can reduce my medication before changing it right away and also to see what is causing my symptoms. UPDATE April 2020: I had bloodwork (9 vials of blood to be exact) done MONTHS ago after my appointment I reviewed, and all they keep sending me is the copay bill for the worthless office visit. They would never give me my results, so I figured why would I pay them for doing nothing? Last time I checked, you pay for services rendered and mine weren't rendered. How hard is it to mail lab results? I still don't have a clue what my allergies are. I love Hoag, but their "specialists" have been crap. I almost didn't go to my appointment after reading the bad reviews. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by everyone I encountered. No complaints at all about my visit. Unfortunately, I was told that when I was to return to do my allergy prick test, to bring in all the things I think I'm allergic to. Like huh? I gotta go shopping, decide what I think I'm allergic to, and bring it in to be tested with it? I'm supposed to just be the uneducated patient, and now I the allergist. My sister was prick tested with her allergy doctor, and found she was allergic to formaldehyde. She sure as hell didn't bring in her own jug of formaldehyde lol I'm assuming my next testing visit will be a $25 copay and then the follow up will be a $25 copay. I'll be $75 deep in copays and a possibly have allergy items totaling $50+... and then if it turns out I'm right, I did all the work?! Oh yeah, and what if I'm wrong, then I'll never know what I'm truly allergic to. I decided to cancel the appointment and do an extensive allergy test I found on Groupon for $40. I don't really understand what happened here, but I'll just cure myself like I always do. Doctors are good for prescriptions and that's about it. read more

I recently went to Dr. Weinstein as I was told by a tella-health nurse I might have hay fever. I was able to get an appointment within just two days on very short notice. The staff was very professional and friendly while booking my appointment. During my visit, Dr. Weinstein was easy to talk to. He also spent time to explain what was going on with me and what his plan for treatment was. I went back a week later for a skin test and follow up appointment. Once again, Dr.Weinstein took the time to answer all my questions and ensure I left with a good treatment plan. I appreciate that my appointments never felt rushed. I had four appointments and testing at Dr. Weinstein's office in Huntington Beach during probably the worst time to have appointments: COVID-19 time. His office deserves five stars, hands down. The office: Clean and organized. Keeping things to a minimal on counters. Keeping distance in the waiting room. Checking your temperature as you enter. You have to have a mask and they have a sink near the front desk where you to wash your hands per their request (way better than hand sanitizer, but they have hand sanitizer available too). This is the office I've felt safer and I've had quite a few appointments this past months. The staff and patient care management: Every single staff member that I interacted with was very polite and efficient, in person and on the phone. Authorizations, appointments, reminder calls, all was done timely and trying to fit my schedule. They seemed happy too. That is great to see in a time of struggle. Dr. Weiner: Thorough, knowledgeable, and kind. He listens, he looks for answers, he provides excellent feedback and advice, and he does it with a warm demeanor. When was the last time you felt your doctor cared personally for your wellbeing? Dr. Weinstein makes you feel like that, without wasting your time either. I am grateful for the care I received. I am happy to know I'm well and won't need further testing, but I will miss this kind of excellent people and service everywhere else. My daughter and I had the most unpleasant experience trying to schedule appointment and during the appointment. We were referred by my daughters pediatrician. It took 1.5 months to get ahold of them. I left numerous messages and no call back. I finally called one day and Andrea answered. She sounded rude and was interrupting when I tried to ask or say anything. I decided to give her benefit of a doubt (we all have bad days time to time) because later she did try to accommodate change in schedule. She confirmed our insurance and referral over the phone. However, when we came for our confirmed appointment yesterday, Andrea charged us for visit, made us fill out stuck of paperwork, had nurse to take my daughters' vital only to come in and inform us (while we were waiting for dr to come in in the room) that she now believes we are not eligible and out of network. She told me description of group does not match on the card. She did not call insurance to clarify. She said it was our fault because it's old referral ( she never called us or answered messages for 1.5 months) I have tried to clarify by asking questions and she kept interrupting me and would not let me put a word in. I told her we don't really want to be there and asked to refund us the visit copay. The doctors office itself was cluttered with old papers and furniture (there was no space to move) and a thick layer of dust. Even if you don't have allergy, you are guaranteed to sneeze in it. Terrible experience. Actually the worst one I have ever had with doctors' office in US. No comment about doctor himself since we did not get a chance to interact with him. read more

Dr. Weinstein is great. He's knowledgeable and best of all, he has common sense. His staff is great for the most part. The nurses are awesome and they make sure you get in and out quickly if you come in for injections. The front desk person may seem a little "blunt" which some may think is rude. She's actually just trying to get her job done and she's make sure that patients are taken care of as soon as possible. She's not rude, she is efficient and focused. It's a very busy office and there is newer staff that has to be trained. They are great considering all the new patients they probably have due to the increase in allergies in the area. read more

I've been going to Dr W. for years. He is thorough, patient, and kind. My daughters are currently patients of his. He has been so gentle with them and indulges me with the many questions I present with regards to their allergies. On the other hand his office staff is exasperating. Most often they don't answer the phone and if you leave a message good luck with getting a call back. Even in the office one gal has been rude and dismissive. It's unfortunate that they are the first line of communication. I feel that Dr. W. deserves 5 stars and his staff gets 1 star. But their attitude and unprofessionalism will not keep me or my daughter's from continuing to see Dr W. and seek out his advise and treatment plan. read more

I had been battling with post-nasal drips for a year which resulted to chronic coughing which resulted to no sleep or at most 3-hr sleep everyday which resulted to calling off work so often. I was referred to Dr. Weinstein for my unresolved issues. I finally found a doctor who took time to listen to my history and complaints to be able to draw the correct diagnosis. My symptoms are well managed now and I ditched my tedious routine of using 3 nasal sprays, Zyrtec, promethazine, countless cough drops and tussins, and not to mention my advair. Thanks to Dr. Weinstein I can work as a dentist without scaring my patients with my chronic cough. I know I still have a long way to go and he told me to be patient but he will get me there. I can see the change and finally I found a doctor. A doctor who listens to the patient first. A doctor who treats a person not the symptoms attached to a human. read more

Having been to his Newport Beach office, that is a replica of the dead peoples waiting room in the movie Beetlejuice, more than 7-8 times with my son for treatment - I finally just walked out. Dr. Weinstein has the worst bedside manner, but we suffered through it out of desperation for a recommended, close allergist. We had to wait over 50 minute today and he still hadn't come in... That was getting typical and it's ridiculous. When we left the nurse asked if we had to pay our co-pay?! We never saw the dr? Except when we left and he was just chatting to a nurse down the hall. And usually his visits add up to over $600 a visit for 15 mins of him condescending us without providing any real diagnosis. Our time and money are valuable too doc. Horrible service. After waiting one hour after the appointment time, we had to wait another 45 minutes in the room. The worst part was that Dr. Weinstein was standing right outside, sipping his coffee talking about how he wanted the decor changed in the office. He must have been speaking to some sort of vendor for that purpose. We tried to get his attention, but he ignored us and kept talking to his vendor. Very rude and inconsiderate. His diagnosis was rudimentary and we feel our PCP is far more knowledgeable than he is about allergies. My teenage daughter was seeing him for a while and she asked him a question regarding a rash she had, and he told her to "google it", she was astounded then he proceed to demand she google it and read to him what the problem was. I couldn't even get past the girls on the phone. I gave her the address, insurance info, birthdate, all that she asked. I let her know that my daughter was there years ago for allergy shots. I let her know that a recent simple blood test showed my son had a likely dust allergy, that I was giving him daughter's allergy meds to combat stuffiness, that son was referred to Dr Weinstein by our pediatrician. I asked how long I needed to take son off the meds before the allergy testing. She said oh no, you need to have a consult first to see what testing is needed. I ask if they can give the same testing they gave daughter? Oh no, he must have a consult first. So I can't just bring him in for allergy testing? No. She transferred me to someone else, I asked that person if there was a doctor son could see that would do testing, she said no and hung up. WOW. read more

I was referred to Dr. Weinstein by my primary care physician after suffering months of very traumatic allergic reaction asthma type attacks and also on another occasion for hives / rash. I was a bit hesitant after reading all the reviews, however the location was convenient and I needed to pinpoint the issue quick. I usually don't leave reviews but felt the need to, in hopes that others are not deterred from this office like I almost was. First, the staff was tremendously welcoming, kind, friendly and accommodating. I even mistakenly cancelled an appointment due to my miscommunication and they were still great enough to find a way to make it work and squeeze me back into the schedule, despite already filling in my cancelled appointment spot. Second, Dr. Weinstein is not only extremely caring and kind, but he knows his stuff! I saw him for 2 separate issues and both times he was able to easily pinpoint my issues and get me on the path to treatment / recovering. He always communicates his thought process with you and makes sure you fully understand the diagnosis, treatment, preventative measures, and what to do next if the issues return. Heaven forbid I suffer from any new or puzzling reactions, Dr. Weinstein will be the first doctor I visit. read more

Dr Weinstein is such a nice man. I've accompanied my husband and daughter there. He was able to diagnose my husband with a very rare immunologic disease after seeing a million others (pulmonology, infectious disease, ENT, hospitalizations, etc.) He really takes his time and doesn't rush the visit. If you leave a message for their billing good luck getting a call back. They are quick to take your money but when it comes to service it is not there. I took my daughter in to see Dr. Weinstein for the first time last week for mystery issues with her asthma and allergies. We waited less than 5 minutes for the appointment. His office staff was friendly and accommodating. The office was clean and organized. Dr. Weinstein was patient, kind, communicated well, and put my totally freaked out 4 year old at ease. He listened to my long list of concerns regarding my daughter and did a thorough exam. I am so glad I found this office. My only regret is not finding Dr. Weinstein sooner. After reading through the one star reviews... I have to disagree. I did not experience any of these things. 1. Everyone knows you have to establish a relationship with a Doctor prior to actual treatment - it's called a consultation appointment. 2. Dr. Weinstein did not prescribe my daughter anything - no drug pushing at all. 3. As patients, we are responsible for checking benefits and knowing our own policies. Doctor's offices may do this for us as a courtesy, but it is not their responsibility. 4. The Ladies at the front desk were great. Office staff are literally the gate keepers to the medical practice, and handle all sorts of challenging situations. Be nice, and they will be nice. Hope this helps. read more

Their billing practices really are a disadvantage to the pt. They will nickle and dime the insurance company for everything including needles and syringes which by the way are not nomally covered under medical. Other offices I called don't do that. I am stuck with having to pay for the needles and syringes which should've been billed altogether as "allergy testing". The person doing the billing isn't quite helpful.Didn't even return my call. I went to him b/c of a referral and b/c I wasn't supposed to pay anything under my plan for allergy testing. They won't even correct their billing so you as a patient will get stuck with a bill. Dr. Weinstein is the best!!!! I have been totally suffering, not knowing what was wrong for the past 7 months. I was told I had acute sinusitis and rhinitis. I went to an allergist and had all kinds of testing done. I was really sick. I was referred to an ENT where I underwent cat scans, prednisone, 8 weeks antibiotics etc. Nothing worked. This amazing doctor fixed the problem in one visit. I am so grateful. To have gone for 7 months in the dark and to finally find out what it is - is amazing. Dr. Weinstein spent so much time with us and was so thorough with his assessment of my 13 year old. He uses the "Aron method" in treating itchy eczema. It's been two days and my son has already stopped scratching! And we tried everything before this. I found the doctor to be engaging, smart and totally reasonable. Staff was great too. Terrible doctor. I kept telling him I wasn't allergic to food and all he did was test me for foods. He ran a few blood tests but he never called me back (2 phone messages left) with the results. I took my daughter to see this doctor for her eczema. This is the 2nd time we've seen him and both times he was very friendly and took the time to listen to all of my concerns/questions. He answered my questions and didn't dodge them like some doctors do. I agree with his approach to treatment and we are having success. I highly recommend this doctor. read more

I was referred to Dr. W for a 2nd opinion. At my first appointment, I only waited about 10 minutes for him I was impressed. He listened, asked questions and gave me a DX and discussed a treatment. He was to call my PCP and get things moving. A month later he had not called my PCP or done anything to move forward with treatment. I called his office, they totally forgot about me and said I needed some labs but I was their top priority. Two weeks after the lab work was back and I had a copy, they still had not called me. The treatment plan was not discussed, only that he wanted me to have some irrelevant testing prior to treatment and if I didn't have it done he wouldn't treat me. And the final straw. I suggested spirometry testing. Only his was broken (how can an asthma specialist not have a working spirometer?) so they wanted me, a disabled senior who walks with a cane, to hike across the parking lot to the hospital and maybe see if I could get a walk in appointment. I'm being denied treatment for a serious illness because he has no clue? Check please And the staff was supposed to mail me labs. I never got them because they had the wrong address and when they were faxed they were written wrong. Audra or something like that recently called me and was totally rude. Cut me off several times and got testy when I asked her to repeat something. read more

I agree with other review that his front desk office staffs were incredibly rude and condescending. Be aware, and keep track to all of your co-pays payments. In 2017, they messed up and didn't record my payment. Jessica, the one who works as their billing department told me that it was my job to keep all receipts, and credit card statements, and date and time I have paid the copays, so she could correct the amount on their end. I was referred to Dr. Weinstein by my doctor to test for allergies. During appointment Dr. Weinstein did not test me for any allergies rather told me he didn't think I had allergies and referred me to a dermatologist. So I went to dermatologist (who originally thought by looking at my skins reaction it was an allergic reaction to something) but just to make sure did a biopsy where test came back as hives from an allergic reaction so she referred me back to an allergist. My mistake I decided to go back to Dr. Weinstein since I had already seen him and they wanted to schedule another "consultation" and still would not test for allergies...so after paying hundreds of dollars for doctor, allergist, and dermatologists appointments and a biopsy done he still didn't feel it was necessary to test for allergies. read more
