Well that step became necessary but Mr. Sherman reneged on handling the next step late on a Thursday afternoon, just days before the filing deadline, the following Monda!! Mr. Sherman's suggestion, engage another attorney. Sure, with two business days to find one, engage him/her, get the background info to the person, and pay for the person going through the material, which we already had paid Sherman to go through. Then he kept the entire retainer, which it probably worked out that he made $1000 per hour and on Monday my wife and I lost our home of 20 years.

Making a large real estate purchase can be scary. You need an advocate who's both knowledgeable and patient. Stu was all of these things and more. You can rely on him for every aspect of your closing. I also thought that his fee was beyond reasonable (hopefully he doesn't read this because I need him for something else). He put me at ease, reassured me, did everything the right way, and there were no problems. He knows his stuff. We only met three times. When the time came to formally conclude the filing, he knew the trustee and clearly was respected by him. My feeling is, the trustee trusted him (no pun intended) and therefore was confident that my filing was truthful (which, or course, it was). It could not have been easier. When I started my business I used credit. It was a mistake but I could handle it up until the time I got sick. Then the medical bills started coming in and it was too much. I had tried working with a company which renegotiated my debts but, in the end, it was a mistake. As soon as I filed for bankruptcy all of the financial stress went away. My credit even improved and literally on the day Mr. Minion and I left the trustee, I filed for, and received, a new credit card. Bankruptcy did not hurt my credit score, it repaired it.

They might be good at what they do. Might. But I kind of doubt it. If they can't handle a simple administrative task like removing me from their mailing list, I certainly wouldn't trust them to handle anything important for me.
