Had 3 weeks scheduled for an electrical Issue. Found a ride, took work off n drive 48 minutes to drop it off and the owner looked at it and said I'm not touching it and left me with no advice.he gave excuses like it's something he doesn't want to get into and he was the recommended shop for the job! An absolute waste of time, total unprofessionalism and they can't handle the schedule n work load the set for themselves. Absolutely go somewhere else n save yourself a month of waiting. read more

I recently had repair work done on my car. I live in Chicago and took a chance with a new shop. I recommend Stevenson's and not because the sales tax is low. It a a top notch shop. Professional service. Honest and thorough answers with skilled technicians. Mr. Stevenson thanked me personally, when I asked if I needed to wear a mask while in the shop. I will keep returning for all of my needs when I'm in town. The receptionist Dana is warm and friendly. I had a fantastic experience with these friendly, competent, professional people. On my way from Chicago to St Louis to visit family to Thanksgiving, my car broke down a couple of miles from here. After researching a couple of repair places and calling a tow truck, I chose Stevenson and their solid reviews as my destination. They did not disappoint. We arrived at just before noon (when their technicians take an hour lunch break). The woman at the desk was friendly, sympathetic, and informative. Bill, the owner, took the car in immediately and quickly came out to show me a picture of exactly what the problem was, and how easy (and affordably) it could be solved. He said he should have me on the road by 2pm, so I headed out to get some lunch and wait. I got a call from the shop at 1pm saying that the technician had decided to work through lunch, and I was all set to go. I wasn't even late to my dinner that night. :) I have nothing but compliments for Stevenson Auto Repair and the way they conduct their business. I was traveling from Chicago back to my hometown in Arkansas. My car broke down right off interstate in Kankakee illinois. I was able to make it to Stevenson auto repair. It was late afternoon and they checked my car and had to order parts. Found me a hotel and then had someone take me to hotel. Ordered part and had my car running early next morning. I was able to get back on road. They were such helpful ladies, I was so impressed. Mechanics were great and explained what had to be fixed and explained what had happened. I feel like they all helped me get back on the road fast. I couldn't have asked for a better auto repair shop. It is hard being a woman and trying to find a good place. Neighborhood repair shop is honest but very expensive. They do good work, but like all "pushy" shops they "find" other things wrong and push you to have the work done there, scaring you with what could go wrong if you don;t have it fixed. Responsible or just pushy sales tactics? read more

They wanted around $220 to install a $30 transmission mount that takes all of 5 minutes to install!!! So yea.

We were moving our daughter, when her VW broke down on the expressway. We had a hard time finding any auto repair place near us that would even work on a VW. Luckily we found Stevenson Auto Repair! Was recommended here by a local body shop to get a motor for my moms window. Goodyear was supposed to order it months ago and have it in "a few days". Nope. So I take it there and not only do they go get the part, they take care of it all in the same day and even have their shuttle service pick her up. I took my old beat up 97 odyssey van there for what I thought was going to be a new battery and a wiper fluid motor and an oil top off since mine leaks so much there would be nothing to change. They had every opportunity to charge charge charge me. They call and don't need a new battery, it was just a cable. Don't need a motor for the wiper fluid, I've just been driving around for two years with a disconnected hose. Don't even need an oil change. Level was fine and everything looked good. Charged me $40. That's a level of honesty and integrity I didn't expect. I've now moved my company car there for it's scheduled maintenance and will take all my vehicles there from now on. read more

From out of town and looking for an honest place to do a used car pre-purchase inspection. I can't vouch for actual auto REPAIR, but this place was great for what I needed. The front desk was very kind and helpful. Mr. Stevenson seemed very knowledge-able and seemed to want to help me understand the car I was about to purchase. Ok so there is a long story to how I got here, but basically I will never go to another auto shop in Kankakee or the surrounding areas again! This was the most delightful car repair experience I have ever had and I have been dealing with car repair shops for almost twenty years now. Dana was super knowledgeable and helpful! Goodyear was totally going to rip me off and not even completely fix the problems. Stevenson's not only did a better job of diagnosing the problem that I knew I was having but then also heard an extra noise that helped them do some preventive care to save me future money. Even though they found something extra to do, it was still HALF the price Goodyear quoted. They were also at least twenty five percent cheaper than anyone else in town. Of course cost isn't the only thing but it is the concept that they weren't just trying to rip me off and take me for a fool. I also appreciated that they had people working there who obviously KNOW and LOVE cars...I will only be going there for all of my auto needs including routine oil changes! My brakes are so great now and I feel safe driving my car after picking it up from the shop...Additionally, they were awesome and came and picked me up so that I could get my car back sooner! read more
